This is the first rental where the kitchen knives were actually sharp enough to slice a tomato! The host was pleasantly responsive. We found everything we could want in the house. It was a most delightful place to stay.
We travel to this area of Oregon each year for a fun family getaway, typically to ski and play in the snow. This was our first time staying at this property and I have to say, this has been our favorite one so far. The location could not be better, two blocks from our favorite Mexican restaurant and right down the street from several stores, parks and entertainment. We are two separate families with small kids to teenagers. We had plenty of room and all the amenities we needed. The house is comfortable and clean and the fenced back yard was perfect for keeping an eye on the kids while they made snowmen and had snowball fights. So basically it was paradise. The hosts were also great and exceptional communicators. 5-star from this family.
This house was fabulous, very clean, in a quiet neighborhood. The hosts were great to communicate with.
The ability to walk downtown to shop and eat were fantastic! Everyone was super kind in town. Definitely would stay at this home again.
The 4 college girl friends reunion
The house worked perfectly for is as we were visiting friends. The location is walking distance to restaurants, shopping and the park. We went wine, vodka and beer tasting all within a few blocks.
The house a great feel to it. The owners kept the feeling of history but it is uncluttered, clean and thoughtfully decorated.
I would definitely recommend this rental.
We came for a long weekend to ski at Anthony Lakes. The house is in a great location. Easy walking distance to downtown for shopping and restaurants. We had too much fun. We will be back for sure. Thank you so much, and thanks for the wine and gift card. Such a nice arrival gift 😊
We came for basketball tournament. Communication was fantastic from the hosts. They allowed us to serve team meals at the house. Because of the open floor plan, it didn't feel crowded. Whenever messaged the hosts they responded promptly. Next time we ar in Baker we will definitely book again.
We had a great time in Baker staying at this rental. Location was great. Bedrooms are spacious and the common areas are cozy for family time. Would definitely stay here again!
Renovated historic home within walking distance to historic downtown. We didn’t really have to take our car anywhere! Loved the quiet neighborhood with countless trees to shade your stroll into town. House doesn’t have central a/c but portable units both upstairs and on the main floor. We were still welcomed to a cooled house after a hot day. Beds were comfortable, and we had everything we needed. VBRO didn’t sent over the door access code, but we were able to get it with a quick text to the owner. Friendly and accommodating. Really enjoyed our stay!
This is a great place to rent in Baker City. The location is close to Downtown with everything you need in walking distance, and in a quiet neighborhood. The rental is very nice with many amenities. It was very comfortable, and we hope to stay here again.
We loved our stay in this beautifully restored home. Next time we will take advantage of all the amenities! It is one of the few rentals in Baker City which has a garage which my husband appreciated immensely. So easy to unload a truck full of items for our vacation. We met the lovely neighbors and had a fabulous time!
This house is walking distance to downtown but in a quiet neighborhood. The beds were very comfortable. Also, we had some special requests, and the owner was very quick to accommodate.
Stayed in this old house for a week. It is currently being upgraded but is comfy and clean. Great central location near baker city historical district for access to city services. For our family, it was a perfect homebase for daily excursions into nearby remote mountains. Hosts were great and responsive.
We have stayed at many rental properties, but this was the first one we rented ourselves. The process was easy and communication with the host was great. We really liked the location because it was within walking distance of downtown and a good brewery(Barley Browns). The house was very clean and beds were comfortable. The check in and checkout process was very easy. We would definitely stay here again.

About the host
Hosted by Joelle Crowther
My name is Jeff, and along with my cousin, Joelle, we operate this unique 1930's home that was owned by our great-grandparents. We are both entrepreneurs, and enjoy thinking about the next idea. We both grew up on our family's dairy farm, which is operated as a beef ranch and farming operation, and lived on by both of our parents. Joelle and her partner Evan, live in Baker, close to the property, and Jeff lives in the Willamette Valley with his partner, Darren.
Why they chose this property
We have bought back our great-grandfather's home in downtown Baker City to restore the charm. We have fond memories in this home, and wanted to create a space for other families and visiting friends to enjoy while in town. The "rocking n" was the cattle brand that our great grandfather used on his small Hereford herd.
What makes this property unique
We wanted to create a welcoming space in Baker. We are intentionally inclusive and welcome anyone and everyone to the beautiful Baker Valley.
