The main level includes an open kitchen and living area, one bedroom and one full bathroom. The kitchen is fully stocked with dinnerware, cookware, bakeware, microwave, toaster, Keurig coffeemaker, electric can opener, tea kettle, usb charger port, and more. The living room is furnished with a sofa, loveseat and recliner, wireless internet, and smart TV. The bedroom is furnished with a queen bed and smart TV.
The finished basement level includes a casual living room style area furnished with queen size sleeper sofa and smart TV, and a section with a set of twin beds, laundry room, and full bathroom.
Sitting in rockers on the front porch of the cabin looking over hayfields and a beautiful open view of the Blue Ridge will be a favorite of any visitor. You can stretch your legs by strolling across a hayfield to access Lake Arrowhead, or pull up a chair and enjoy the outdoor fire pit or charcoal park grill.
It is fascinating to observe the wildlife that enter the adjoining fields to feed, or the eagles, hawks, waterfowl and other birds that fly over the property. It is pleasurable to hang out on either of the porches and listen to the morning or night sounds of the country, to watch the beautiful sunrises and sunsets unobscurred by smog or pollution.
During the day, take a drive across the Shenandoah National Park Skyline Drive, rent a kayak or canoe and float the Shenandoah River, visit the Luray Caverns, and more. (The lane to the cabin has a low water creek crossing.)

Wow! What an amazing property and cabin. The owner was communicative and her attention to detail made our stay perfect. The cabin was pristine and completely stocked with EVERYTHING and every kitchen item/tool you could possibly need. The wi-fi was lightening fast and the A/C was ice cold. This weekend was perfect and exactly what we needed to reset and recharge. The grounds are peaceful and there’s so much land and peace. We will return again for sure!

Fantastic location and hospitality

My family and I just returned from a perfect stay at Cabin Fever. My kids loved watching the wildlife outside the front door and daily fishing at the lake. With close proximity to Shenandoah for hiking and driving Skyline Drive (plus the views from the cabin) you really can’t beat this location. Missie and her family were super hospitable as well. We can’t wait to visit again!

Cabin get-away

Cozy cabin for a couple or small family. Located between the town of Luray and the Caverns on one side and the Shenandoah National Park on the other, it is reasonably close to all. It is far enough out of town that you have unimpeded views all around of the mountains. A short walk across a small field takes you to Lake Arrowhead recreational area. Be prepared for a long-ish gravel drive.

Cabin fever

Great private cabin that is exactly as described. Owner is friendly and attentive. It was only my husband and myself but this would be a perfect place to bring the kids/grandkids and they could enjoy the whole downstairs to themselves, not to mention that there’s plenty of outdoor space to play and explore. Would definitely recommend this rental for any couple or family to enjoy!

Beautiful Cabin Near Shenandoah National Park

Do not hesitate to book Cabin Fever. This gorgeous property has everything you need to relax and unwind. Not only is it super close to Shenandoah National Park it is only a 1/3 mile pretty walk to Lake Arrowhead, a gorgeous man made lake and park. We saw and heard white tail deer—including two bucks bugling in the distance and enjoyed sitting on the front porch relaxing as the stars came out. The property owner Melissa was friendly and very responsive. Enjoy!

Nice getaway

Our family enjoyed our long weekend getaway to the Luray area. This cabin is lovely- well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, perfect location for exploring Skyline Drive. The quiet mornings and peaceful evenings were exactly what we wanted to bookend days hiking with our little kids. The firepit was awesome for s'more making one evening. Do note that there are multiple empty buildings in close proximity to the cabin that do not appear in the pictures. My 8 yr old was a bit spooked by the "haunted house" next door. Thankfully that was just a momentary blip and no uninvited guests made an appearance. Also, the driveway back to the property is a bit rough and we were glad to have our SUV, as our car sits pretty low. The cabin is quite new, very clean, and we enjoyed our quick stay.

A Perfect Stay at Cabin Fever

This Cabin is so beautifully built and the property is absolutely stunning. The view from inside or outside the cabin is gorgeous and amazing! The location is extremely convenient whether you want to go to Skyline Drive or Old Rag Mountain, and right across the property, is the beautiful Lake Arrowhead. All of the facilities (kitchen, bathroom, TV, beds) are VERY clean, in excellent condition, if you need WiFi it is reliable and very quick. Kitchen has more than what you would need and even K-cups for coffee! The front porch on the upper level is AMAZING for stargazing at night and there is a grill / fire pit outside as well. The interior is very spacious and perfect for relaxing in and outside you can see the amazing sceneries. MIssie is such a wonderful host and we can't thank her enough. Her hospitality and kindness made this vacation an amazing one, so relaxing and nice to just "get away" for a little while. We'll be back when possible. Highly recommend it!

Perfect spot for exploring Shenandoah

We booked this cabin because of its location, which was indeed so convenient for getting to Shenandoah every day, but the cabin itself was even nicer and more fun than we expected! Missie has thought of basically everything, and when we mentioned we were bringing our 6 month old, we also found a pack and play and baby gate in the home waiting for us. She is incredibly thoughtful and a quick communicator. Cabin had fast Wi-Fi; good water pressure in the shower; firm, comfortable bed; cooking pans and essentials like salt, pepper and olive oil in the cupboards; large, clean washer and dryer; and was overall so clean. We loved being away from the town — the farm atmosphere was so relaxing and beautiful with fields and cows surrounding the cabin. There are a few old empty buildings near the cabin and a neighbor’s house across the field. The driveway is long, curvy, and narrow with uneven gravel so I would recommend arriving the first time during the daylight if possible. That being said, the cabin location was especially wonderful at night — we saw so many stars and even the Milky Way one night. We will 100% stay here the next time we’re in the area!

Great stay, second time better than our first

We enjoyed the stay. The place is beautiful and the views are gorgeous. It's peaceful there. The heat/AC units have been recently updated so the noise and inconsistent temps from previous years are gone and the temperature and noise were both a huge improvement. This was our second stay in the past few years at this place and we loved it.

A serene and peaceful getaway

We had an incredible stay at this charming cabin! From the moment we arrived we were struck by the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, which truly made this a serene and peaceful getaway. The cabin was clean, well-equipped and incredibly comfortable, providing all the amenities we needed for a relaxing stay. We enjoyed the rocking chairs on the porch after a long day of hiking. It was so peaceful to sit back and unwind and watch the deer and wild turkeys that wandered by. The location was also perfect for exploring Shenandoah NP. Fall colors were stunning this year. We would love to come back! Highly recommended for anyone looking to recharge in a beautiful setting.

Good stay

We had a good stay at the Cabin Fever. It's a great location close to the town of Luray and the park. The place would be comfortable for 4 guests with a cozy setting and enough entertainment for all. Please note that there is no paper towels or bath toiletries. Also, if you plan to cook during your stay, tap water is not clear in appearance so carry purified water. Otherwise, it was relaxing to spend time surrounded by mountains and rainy clouds.

About the host

Hosted by MELISSA SEAL

Host profile image
My name is Missie, oldest and only daughter of Charlie Seal, owner of Cabin Fever. Dad has given me the privilege of managing his short term rentals. I have always desired to be a part of something involving hospitality, and here I am, acting as host to one of my favorite places, Cabin Fever, which is situated on dad's farm, which is his homeplace. I grew up visiting the farm until my junior year of high school, at which time my dad took over the farm for my granddad. I love the farm and the life that it has provided for my husband, me and our children and grandchildren. There is nothing better than breathing fresh air, digging in the dirt in preparation of the garden planting and then seeing and tasting the fruit of your labor, smelling farm smells, hearing roosters crow & hens cluck, watching the honeybees work to provide "liquid gold", seeing the kids free to run and play carefree getting hot, sweaty and dirty as kids should, and there is so much more!. All these things have provided countless memories through my childhood and adulthood, and it makes me happy to know that we can share a bit of our life with others by allowing guests to stay at Cabin Fever.

Why they chose this property

As you pull into the somewhat obscure lane that leads through a patch of woods, you will find yourself wondering where this lane might lead? Just after you cross a mountain stream by way of a small concrete bridge the property opens up to the cabin ahead, Nature on all sides. (There is one quiet residence tucked in the corner of the hayfield.) There is farm life that goes on around the property which include cattle roaming the neighboring pasture, and hayfields that draw various forms of wildlife. There's probability that you will experience beautiful white-tail deer meandering through the field eating clover, or turkeys strutting in the hayfields in the distance. Occasionally, you will see bald eagles flying overhead. There is the beautiful view of the Skyline Drive ahead as you sit in the rockers on the front porch during the day, or experience the gorgeous night sky filled with stars as you enjoy a campfire in the fire pit.

What makes this property unique

Cabin Fever is situated in a somewhat secluded setting. The cabin faces the Skyline Drive, specifically the Stonyman overlook and outcropping. There is one neighbor visible from the cabin, but good neighbors! The cabin sits at the foot of the Town of Luray's Lake Arrowhead. The lake water is not visible from the cabin, however, a short walk will allow you one of the most beautiful sites imagined. There are walking trails, picnic areas, playground, beach, bathrooms, fishing, etc. at the lake. The cabin is not far from grocery stores, restaurants and other activities. A day trip to DC and all that is available in the city is a fun day trip knowing that you can return to a quiet retreat. Also, the south fork of the Shenandoah River runs through our county, and spending the day floating the river with your own gear or using an outfitter to equip and guide a float allows many a fun memory (but don't forget your sunscreen). To sum up what makes Cabin Fever unique is our location, cleanliness, and the beauty that surrounds it.
