The Mermaid Cottage

This was our first time using VRBO and it was a wonderful experience! The Mermaid Cottage is such a gem and in a great location to town/beach, will definitely be coming back! We had such a great time :)

Great place

We enjoyed this lovely home close to downtown and Lake Superior. You can hear the waves! Host was great with communication. Very clean, very comfortable. We’ll definitely return!

Grand Marais Getaway

The property was very charming (and quiet!), perfect for our group of 4 friends. It’s located close to many amazing natural attractions and beautiful beaches. The bikes and kayaks on site gave us plenty to do. We hope to visit again!

The Hill Sisters

My sister and I truly enjoyed our stay in Grand Marais for the UP 200 dog sled race. We have been attending the race for years but this year was the absolute best at the Mermaid House. Great sister memories were made. Lots of snow, perfect UP winter!

Great Location

This is the 3rd time my sister and I have stayed at Vacation Paradise. We come to Grand Marais annually to hunt for rocks. We love that the house is within walking distance to all the restaurants in town. Vacation Paradise is so comfortable and decorated nicely with a beach theme.

Nice place to stay

This was a nice house to stay at. Very close to the beach, which is what we were there for. We did not use them, but they had kayaks and bikes available. The yard was a decent size and good for the kids to play in.

Great location in paradise

We have visited a lot of areas no place is like this town! The mermaid house is in a great location we where able to walk to just about anywhere. We got to enjoy a couple campfires and had lots of wonderful famiy time. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

We loved this house for our recent stay! The house was immaculately clean, had lots of fun amenities, and everything you could need. We loved the board games for a rainy Fourth of July day, and we kayaked all over the bay!

Beautiful!

We loved the spacious yard where we could eat our meals al fresco and while away the afternoons reading in the sun when we weren't taking short walks to the beach or getting ice cream a few blocks away. The Mermaid house is well situated and well appointed for a week in the upper peninsula's best village.

Lovely little cottage!

We definitely found the Mermaid Cottage perfect for our trip exploring the UP, especially visits into the Pictured Rocks Nat Seashore. We enjoyed the fun vibe of the cottage and all the personal touches. It is very well equipped and had everything we needed. I would highly recommend it!

Perfect Vacation Week

We had a wonderful stay at the Mermaid Cottage in Grand Marais! The cottage was very comfortable with all the amenities we needed! Very clean and everything was just like it is listed. The hosts went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay. The location is absolutely perfect for walking to the beach, to get coffee at the Dream Machine, and pizza at the GM Tavern. We loved it so much we have already booked next year!

The UP 2022

If you are looking for a place to stay in this part of the UP please use this property as it is totally what is described in the listing and the owner is fantastic to work with! We totally enjoyed our stay and will keep it mind for return trips to this region.

Our large family is native to Grand Marais. We all enjoyed growing up by the big lake.

Why they chose this property

The location is just 2 short blocks to the beach or the downtown area. Grand Marais is on the Eastern edge of the sand dunes of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore with all varieties of water and hiking activities just minutes away.

What makes this property unique

The large backyard has seating around a fire pit, outdoor table and chairs and gas grill. A short (approximate 900 ft) walk gets you to the bay or Lake Superior. It is also a short walk to all of the downtown shops.
