Very clean, quiet location on the owners’ property, away from town. It was nice to see all the farm animals that live there. Property owner was very accommodating, stopped by to meet us and responded to any questions we had. We enjoyed our time visiting Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and the surrounding area.
Great location to check out Grand Marais (close to the east end of pictured rocks). The cabin was very peaceful and private. It worked out well for our family of four. Our kids loved the chickens and goats on site. We’ll definitely stay again when we come back the UP.
Fantastic cabin at the Lake in the UP! The cabin was very clean and well kept The hosts were excellent at communication a little sad we did not get to meet in person. Very close to many hiking trails with waterfalls and pictured rocks. We enjoyed the tranquility and natural beauty of the area and the sound of nature at night. Excellent accommodations, thank you for hosting us over the 4th of July weekend!
The cabin was very clean, and secluded! The stars were awesome! We had about a 15 min drive into town for the best Yooperlight hunting, cinnamon rolls and ice cream!
The cabin was beautiful and quiet and perfect for a getaway

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
The owners replied quickly to all communication and any special requests we had. The owners supplied firewood for one of our nights. The cabin is small, but a great size for two adults. Bedroom is loft style with queen and 2 twin beds-this would be very cramped with 4 people. Pictures led us to believe we had or could get access to the lake, but there was no direct access or path to the lake that the property is on. The town of Grand Marais was an easy 20 min drive for food, groceries, ice cream, and gas.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience! We’re so glad you enjoyed your stay and appreciated our communication, the firewood, and the convenient location to Grand Marais.
We’d also like to clarify for future guests that there are two walking paths from the property that lead to the lake. Guests are also always welcome to access the lake by walking through our backyard, where we launch our kayaks. We’re sorry if this wasn’t clear during your stay, and we’ll look at how we can better communicate the lake access in our listing and guest information.
Thank you again for choosing our cabin—we truly appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you back in the future!
Had a wonderful time staying at this cozy cabin. We were in the UP to see the fall foliage and Pictured Rocks. The cabin was in a great location to get to all of things we wanted to do.

About the host
Hosted by Jen Irvine
Ed and Jenny were born and raised in southeast Michigan. They have been married for 20 years, and have been blessed with four beautiful children, two girls and two boys. Nearly nine short years ago, this wild and free family decided to step out of their city roots and jump into some country boots. Always doing things against the norm, and counting their blessings along the way. This boat loving, city dwelling family, jumped feet first into a life filled with chicken chasing, goat wrangling and child rearing. They were happy, content and indeed blessed – but something was still missing.
Ed, a senior logistics warehouse manager, driving nearly 150 miles a day; Jenny, a work at home marketing director and ESL teacher certainly never ‘planned’ on uprooting all that they have ever known – but, one beautiful week back in June 2018 forever changed the course of their lives. What started off as a typical vacation, ended up being much, MUCH more!
It wasn’t long after the family’s return home, the wheels began to turn; “What if we were to own a family business?” And, so it began.
Ed, Jenny and their four kids proceeded to make a total of twenty trips, drive over 14,000 miles, and spend 230+ hours in the car together in a 16 month span traveling back-in-forth from their home downstate up to Grand Marais, MI.
When the opportunity to purchase Superior Hardware came about, it was as if the ‘light bulb’ finally ‘turned on’. All the months/hours spent traveling, contemplating, planning, prepping, and anguishing was about to culminate into the adventure of a lifetime.
With a plethora of business, building, farm-steading, and home life experience between them, Ed and Jenny quickly realized they very well might have found the ‘perfect fit’. Owning and operating a family hardware store in a small town, made sense for this self-driven, hardworking, community oriented family.
And with that, 'The Irvine Family' is excited to meet, serve and welcome each and every one of you!
