We were very impressed with everything, starting with our host, he responded to any of our questions fast to the beautiful cottage and sandy beach that our grandchildren loved to play and swim. The screened in sun porch was a great bonus, we used it all the time. The lake view from the cottage is amazing! Great lake for water sports and fishing. Will definitely go back!

Family vacation

It’s our 3rd year here. This year our adult children and granddaughter were able to stay with us for the whole week. We will be returning next year as we are making this our family vacation spot. Very relaxing with plenty of room for us all to unwind and have our own space.

Great location

We went up for an atv trip. The property is located right on the trail and right on a lake which makes for an incredible view, especially in the morning. The house and property were clean and cozy. Josh is very easy to work with and very responsive. Well done

Amazing Getaway!

The Ironwood rental property was an amazing getaway! It met every expectation and then some. The view of the lake was breathtaking. Slept 10 and there was plenty of room. The house was clean and had everything we needed for the week. Located on the trails was a plus for us. Highly recommend and we would definitely rent again!

Nice Property

Very clean. Owner very responsive. Cabin is an older cabin that has been remodeled. They’ve done a nice job. Kayaks and screen porch are great. Fire pit is also very nice. Nice and close to town—kids biked there for doughnuts. Only complaint was the lawn was not mowed for the first five days and it needed it. Would stay there again.

Nice place in the northweods

Everything was perfect except maybe a lack of somewhat common kitchen supplies. Measuring cups, maybe an extra pan or two, mixing bowls. Fire pit was awesome, screened in porch was awesome. Kid friendly. Fishing not so good. Will come back

Great Northwoods Vacation

This property was great! The screened porch, close proximity to the water, firepit area (awesome), and view from the living room were all amazing. We had fun swimming and playing in the water (nice sandy bottom and clear water) and the kids caught hundreds of small pan fish from the dock (and even some nice size bass too). A few northern were caught by the adults and multiple musky follows were seen by the die hard fishermen of our group. We saw a lot of wildlife too - loons, eagles, chipmunks, rabbits, and the best --we watched deer from the kitchen table window while drinking coffee each morning. We played board games and cards on the screened patio while enjoying the lake view. This cabin is located in a convenient location. You are able to walk to a park with a large beach and playground equipment and even close enough to walk into town to get ice cream or shop, but very secluded and private too. Grocery store, bait, ice, everything you need was so close. A great family vacation with lots of good memories made!

Heaven on the Lake

We were hopeful the photos and description matched the actual experience and were literally blown away by how fantastic the property was upon arrival. The moment you walk into the house you immediately see the beautiful lake spread out in front of you, due to the unobstructed picture windows in the livingroom. The bedrooms on the main floor were roomy with 2 rooms having lakeviews. The screened in porch was one of the most utilized spaces. Whether drinking our morning coffee while watching the deer and chipmunks feast on the corn feed to listening to the loons on the lake, the serene peacefulness was exactly what we all needed. The firepit was perfect for roasting marshmallows and smearing them on graham crackers with chocolate (smores!!) with enough seats for our group. The basement was ideal for a couple of teenage boys who desired some of their own space away from the adults. The bunk room was large enough for the boys to spread out with a seperate area for lounging on the sofa to watch some tv. The extra bathroom, on that level, with shower came in handy on more than one occasion. The kayaks and paddleboats were their favorite part of the rental and laundry machines were the mom's favorite part to clean lake/fishing clothes. The property manager provides the pontoon rentals, seperately, for this location. He delivered our pontoon prior to our arrival and, when the battery died, he immediately made his way over so we didn't lose much time fishing on the lake. The men caught fish each day and even had a couple muskies follow their lures back to the boat. Overall, it was a slice of heaven for all of us and we look forward to returning next year!!

About the host

Hosted by Josh Pfohl

Host profile image
My family has been traveling to the Mercer Wisconsin area for 8 years. While snowmobiling is what originally drew us to the area, we look forward to enjoying the many other opportunities that Iron county has to offer, such as the ATV/UTV trails, newly extended Bike path that connects to the Manitowish Waters system, and life on the lake in the summer.

Why they chose this property

We have four children, size and location of the home were key to making sure this was something we could enjoy for years to come. We have privacy, yet we are conveniently located to all the amenities that Mercer has to offer.

What makes this property unique

Lakefront, trailside, secluded yet within walking distance to restaurants, bars, and grocery stores.
