Great location close to town and the trail behind the home is great. Loved sitting on the porch and watching wildlife. A treat to see wild horses and deer so close up. Would stay here again.

Great location

Nice cabin, great location. Went with 5 adults and didn't quite read the listing so 2 had to sleep in bunk beds. Nice to have BBQ and laundry. Main bed has a memory foam mattress that takes some getting used to but was nice. Great place to hike along forest boundary, and close to brewery which was best part.

Lovely cabin

Ideal location for being close to town but with the forest in your backyard. Rooms were each comfortable and cabin was stocked full of useful things (kitchen stuff, games, everything!). Added bonus was the fenced yard which was great for our small dog to run out without requiring a full walk! We would stay again for sure.

Perfect Mountain Getaway

This cabin property is classic Cloudcroft! Tucked away above the main town, it provides a warm and cozy place to relax after a day of skiing or hiking. Highly recommended if you want that mountain feel while still being close to town and Cloudcroft Brewing Company, this is your place. Great opportunities to see the local mule deer herd in the Lincoln National Forest right outside the kitchen window! Perfect!

Perfect family mountain getaway

We absolutely loved our time in Cloudcroft. The home was super clean and loved how open it was. The bunk bed room was SO fun for the kids and they had pack n play, booster seat, and toys for the littles. Kitchen had all the basics and we cooked at the house each night. The best part was the house backing up to the Lincoln National Forest where we could explore, go sledding, and see wild horses and deer. Town was a short walk or drive away and we enjoyed Mad Jack’s BBQ, noisy water winery, Eight the Cake, and the brewery. The OSHA trail was great too. We had a great time and can’t wait to come back.

Great Cabin-in-the-Woods Getaway

Was a pleasant stay adjacent to the Lincoln National Forest. In fact a hiking trail was less than a minute walk out the back door. Though not secluded the neighborhood was quiet and respectful, and had daily visits by the local Mule Deer. There is a small fenced-in area in the back for dogs but you may have to leash your pet if they are prone to jumping over fences to chase deer. Also, if conditions are dry then you should have no problem driving your 2WD vehicle up through the neighborhood to the cabin. If you are into hiking then there are literally dozens of hikes within 5-15 minutes drive. If visiting White Sands then you’re looking at a half-day excursion to really get into the park and walk the dunes, which is well worth it. Last tip: meal plan and hit up a legit grocery store before reaching Cloudcroft, and maybe bring your own preferred cookware if you are picky.

Wonderful Family Time

We stayed here 2 years ago and it was so awesome that we definitely wanted to return. We’ve stayed at 8 different places in Cloudcroft since 2017 and this was by far the best. The front porch is so inviting with several choices of seating. The house is well stocked with anything you might need. Parking is easy and level. There are few steps. There is a very comfortable living area. The house backs to the national forest and lots of wildlife wonder through! It awesome!

Great Stay

Everything was great, but backyard fence could only keep in a dog without the ability to jump. Literally 18” tall, but that is the only issue with the property

Beautiful, Comfortable and Convenient

This is the nicest of the 5 VRBO’s that we’ve stayed in since 2017. It was perfect in every way. The front porch was amazing and included the neighbor’s very friendly cat that visited each day. The back property line was the National park and trail access was a few feet off the property. It was well stocked. We stayed 11 nights.

The House at the End of Town

This was our second year staying at this great house. It’s a beautiful house, nice porch, cathedral ceilinged great room. Has everything you need for your stay except you. Pets allowed. Small fenced yard for your dog. The best part is that it’s on the last street in town. When you go out the back door, you are in the National Forest. Steps from hiking trails. Deer and elk visit every day. Lots of hummingbirds. We come to Cloudcroft every year. Will reserve the place for next year.

Everything I Wanted

The home was very clean and had everything we needed. I loved the TV program options and the comfortable living room couches. The bedrooms were comfortable and there were even a few toys for the kids to play with. I loved the outdoor furniture and grill. The house was so inviting, clean, and just perfect for that family vacation. The home was central to town, but it had a backyard forest to take walks in. I can’t wait to go back! Thank you so much!

Some attention needed

A nicely designed house which is lacking a little TLC. More emphasis is required on cleaning. There were lots of debris under the couch, dirty freezer, dust everywhere-inside and out, old dog poop in the backyard, lights in both bathrooms (we replaced the bulbs) and front porch not working, window wells were covered with dust and dead moths. Both bathroom exhaust fan grills were extremely dirty. The BBQ grill was filthy. We had to scrub the pots before using and the frying pans were so scratched that they were unusable. No soap was supplied at the bathroom sinks or in the shower. A pillow on the couch had food debris. We enjoyed the fresh mountain air and the cool breezes on the front porch along with the brewery nearby, great pizza. The beds were comfortable.

What a treasure!

We stayed for the full month of July in this beautiful home. The backyard literally butts up to the High Altitude Trail in the forest and you can walk for miles and miles. While in the house, we saw deer and elk and wild horses. Just amazing! Aimee was the perfect host...answering any questions in a very timely manner. The house is fully stocked with towels and paper products and there is no need to bring any seasonings for cooking. It's all there!! I should point out that the fence in the backyard literally comes up to my knees, so my Newfoundland dog could easily step over it if he wanted. Luckily, he's a good boy and he stayed put, But if you have a dog that is a jumper...just know the fence will not keep your dog in or other dogs out. That was literally the only "negative" thing about this home. We spent many hours on the back porch looking out into the forest and enjoying the sounds of nature. You can't go wrong with this home.

No Hot Water/Poor Communication/Lack of Care From Owners Regarding Problems

*Let's start out with the good.....The house is very nice and was a comfortable place for my family of 5 to hang out. The place was clean and the kitchen was well equipped. We enjoyed seeing the deer family walk through the yard each day of our 3 night stay. *Now the bad.....Unfortunately, there was a major problem with the water system in the house, mainly extremely intermittent or NO hot water, and extremely low water pressure. Starting on the first night of our arrival, Thursday, there was no hot water at all in the 2nd bathroom shower, and there was barely enough warm water to fill the sink to wash up instead. A similar problem of lukewarm water/no pressure existed with the kitchen faucet. We sent a text to Ian, one of the the owners, who told us we had to run the water for a while to get hot water but if we still had a problem to let him know in the morning. This did not work, we still had the problem Friday morning, and let him know. He came by, tried the water for himself, told us he'd had renters complain of this before, and that a plumber was trying to fix it. We were not told of this pre-existing problem before our stay. Also, we were under the impression that he was trying to get the problem fixed this same day. He texted a short time later to tell us a part needed to repair it would be coming in on Monday, after we were leaving. That left us with only the master bathroom shower for 5 people. Unfortunately..... this was also a problem. On Friday night, the water in the master shower was alternately scalding hot or cold, with no water pressure. On Saturday evening we came back from a long hot day of hiking in White Sands NP ready for showers. After one shower there was no hot water for the rest of the night. We texted Ian to let him know and ask if he had any suggestions for getting hot water in the morning. He NEVER responded to this text. In fact, we never heard from him, or co-owner Aimee, again. And once again, there was no hot water the next day, Sunday, on the morning of our departure. If we had been staying here for more than 3 nights, or had a child with us, this experience would have been a lot worse. The owners did not offer us any alternatives, solutions, apologies or compensation for this problem. These owners really need to stay in the house for a few days to fully understand and experience the extent of this problem. If you plan to rent this place, you should have the owners guarantee that they have fixed this problem.

Ian’s property was a perfect place to stay in Cloudcroft. We come here every year or so and this is by far our favorite location and favorite property that we’ve stayed in. The first thing that set it apart from other properties was the cleanliness- everything was spic and span for our arrival. We love the location as it backed up to the national forest and we had a hiking trail right out our backyard. We could hike to the Pines Campground area or go towards the OSHA Trail. There was also a very professional disc golf course within walking distance through the forest. At the beginning of the trip, it was just my husband and I and then our grown sons, granddog, and one wife joined us. The house was large enough for the five of us. The kitchen in particular was set up in a great way that there could be many of us cooking and not getting each other‘s way. The master bedroom was perfect- comfy king bed. The 2 other bedrooms were small- one had a queen bed and the other bunk beds (not great for adults). Our granddog immediately loved the house and was super chill and relaxed the whole time. We used the baby gate across the front steps and he was able to go out on the front porch and hang out. Because he is a big dog, we could not let him out in the backyard as the fence is very low. He would’ve chased the many deer and elk that we saw.Only a few recommendations--Bring your own food storage containers-replaced several lightbulbs -more eatting utensils needed
