Port Clyde is a short drive from the cottage where you can rent kayaks, take a boat tour or ride the ferry to Monhegan Island and enjoy its wonderful hiking trails. And don’t skip visiting the famous Marshall Point Lighthouse. And if you get hungry The Black Harpoon is a great stop.
At the completely car-free pedestrian Clark Island in Saint George, enjoy beautiful ocean views, hike within the island and enjoy refreshments at the end of your hike with ice cream or a cold drink at The Causeway.
At Birch Point Beach State Park, located in Owls Head, enjoy a beautiful sand beach and trails to hike.
If you eat seafood you have to check Rockland, known as the Lobster Capital of the World, has many restaurants, an art center, and a nice harbor where you can walk around.
Plus, it hosts the Maine annual lobster festival. This year’s festival will be from August 4th to 8th.
Camden is a charming town full of delicious food, shops, windjammer sailing tours, and don’t forget to visit Hills State Park and enjoy the majestic views from Mount Battie.
If you feel up for a day trip, Bar Harbor, Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park are about 2 hours drive, the City of Portland is 1.5 hours away, and Augusta, the Capital of Maine is a little over an hour.
