About this property

The Light Forest Chalet- minutes to beach, skiing and more!

The Light Forest Chalet is a 4 bedroom, 3 bath Chalet home in the NE Poconos lake region, about 2 hours from the George Washington Bridge. The home is in a private gated lake and amenity filled community called The Hideout, located in Lake Ariel, PA.

You may enter the chalet from both upper and lower levels. Upon entering the lower level you will encounter the game room which includes ping pong table, air hockey table, huge karaoke machine (Bluetooth) with 2 mics, and large smart tv, tons of board games, and two comfy couches. You will find a door leading to one of the master bedrooms with en-suite bathroom and TV.
Up the staircase you will be greeted by a beautiful open living/dining/kitchen area with huge windows and skylights, a gas fireplace, and a large walk out deck with bbq and table. Down the hallway you will find a full bathroom, 2 additional bedrooms, one with access to the huge private rear deck.
On the third floor landing you will find a large loft with amazing views of the chalets windows, with futon couch and desk/work space area. Adjacent to the loft is the main master bedroom with its own high up private deck, en-suite bathroom including large 2 person jacuzzi tub, stand up shower and electric heater to keep you warm and toasty when you exit the shower on those cold winter nights. The bedroom also has a skylight which will allow the sunlight to graze through in the mornings.

The chalet comfortable sleeps 12 guests max.

We are within a 10 minute walk (or one minute drive) from the main beach (with kayak rentals), pool, ski hill, and arts center. The community also includes a 9-hole golf course and pub, a second beach and pool, mini golf, a 2.7 mile nature walking trail, and multiple parks with picnic tables and charcoal grills.
Honesdale and Hawley are a short 20-minute drive away featuring great local shops, antique stores, restaurants, and small museums.
Ski Resorts and Water Parks are within 1 hour driving distance away!

Important things to note:

• We are in a gated, private community with it's own security and requirements for renting. We realize this may be new to some travelers so we like to be as upfront about this as possible. The community requires info for ALL guests and vehicles that enter the community and stay at our property, and this is strictly enforced. This is not the house to rent if you are looking to have people come and go throughout your stay, or are hoping to squeeze in additional people, as we will be made aware and you will lose your security deposit. The fines for being in violation are steep and compromises our standing the community and ability to rent again in the future.
• In compliance with our HOA, we require a rental agreement to be signed at booking.
•All guests must be 25 & older unless accompanied by a parent/guardian. Up to 4 cars allowed in the driveway. There is no street parking.

Needs improvement
Have stayed in the Hideout years ago so was a bit disappointed by this house. Looked much better in pics than in person. See notes below. - Smell of damp and sewer in the basement upon arrival and lingered until the next day (we had to leave the door open to get the smell out) - Soap dispenser didn’t work for basement - should have extra pots and pans - Air hockey doesn’t work - Door Screen was broken in the basement

Great place but management would benefit in having a checklist
So 9 of us stayed at this house for 5 nights and we loved the house especially the game room. The property manager was very attentive and was able to rectify most issues. We loved that the beach was so close (approx. 5 minutes away). The water was a bit cold and the pool wasn't heated but the kids still went into the lake and had a blast. The fishing off the dock was also great. The reason I was only able to give this house 4 stars instead of 5 is because I feel that there really should be a checklist to every home to ensure it's ready for the next guest. For example, below are a few examples of what should have been checked before we checked in: -to ensure that there are enough towels and mats to put down on the bathroom floors so you don't wet everything. We needed to use our bath towels which left us without towels but once we called the property manager they came and gave this to us. - Ensuring that the backup bbq propane tank has gas. We were bbqing for only the 3rd time and ran out of gas. I did reach out to Candace who told me about the backup tank but that didn't have any gas either. She was able to send someone else out with gas but it did delay our dinner and with kids that could always be a disaster. - No DC adapter for the karaoke machine and Candace was not able to get one for us so the kids were not able to utilize an amenity in the house that they were really looking forward to using. - Not informing us that the downstairs bathroom frequently backs up and overflows. Again, Candace sent the plumber right away and they did inform us that this does happen once a week or so which would have been good to know so we didn't freak out when it did happen thinking we might have done something wrong. So overall, the property is great but management should be on top of having some sort of checklist to make sure everything is as it should be for the next guest.

The house was what we expected from the pictures. The home was clean, spacious and the AC worked great. The home was close to everything. The property Manager Candice was always an ear shot away if needed. For the trip she was only needed once, and she gave us a welcome package as well. Looking forward to next year already.
