Fantastic Time Away

My wife and I had a lovely weekend at this location with our dog. We were able to relax and read books, go for small hikes around the island, and have a thoroughly lovely stay. I would recommend this location to anyone.

Great Lake cottage

We had a fabulous stay. Very large well manicured property on 5 acres of naturally forested land. The house was clean, spacious with well kept amenities. The host was very friendly and prompt with any questions.

Cousins Getaway

A spacious, spotless beautiful home on a secluded lot. We had plenty of room for our group of 9! The hosts quickly responded if we had any questions. This was our third stay here and we would highly recommend it be one of yours if you are traveling along the Maine coast. Having the hot tub was an added bonus for sure.

One of the best log cabins we've been in.Fabulous setting.. private, good views, serene.love the large rooms, lobster boats. Well worth the money. However we found the property challenging for elderly folks for a few reasons:- easiest entry was thru the garage .. two steep steps and no handrails- low toilet seats- no grab/safety bars in or near the showers- slippery shower floors- no main floor TV - we brought a smart tv which worked well .. strong internet bandwidth was fine.

Fantastic rental!

Our stay was fantastic! Everything about this stay was amazing, from the property, to the house (inside and out) and the views. The owners were very responsive and answered all of our questions. Their was 10 of us with plenty of room to relax, play games or enjoy the hot tub overlooking the River.

Fabulous stay!

Beautiful property, lots of space for our small family to spread out. My husband enjoyed morning coffee on the screened in porch, our children loved sleeping in open loft. We very much enjoyed the hot tub after a long day exploring coastal towns of Maine. We had some issues one evening with temperature of hot tub but host was very quick to respond and issue was quickly resolved. I highly recommend this property!

Such a relaxing getaway!

Perfect in every way! My family of 6 made some great memories. Everything about the house was so relaxing which made for some great family time! We ate at Monsweag which was very close and enjoyed our dinner and service. We visited Wiscasset and all had a great time….we were also able to visit a couple of lighthouses. Everything about the house was wonderful. The hot tub, the little trail, and we had so much fun with ping pong! We would all love to go back!

A Slice of Heaven

Everything is as pictured and described. What a great house and piece of property. We toured the property and you do have to be careful. There were benches to sit on at each of the tiers. Our 2 dogs loved it here too. The house is near a lot of things to do and close to some of our favorite restaurants. We definitely will be back.

Deserves more than five stars!

I cannot say enough good things about this incredible vacation log home in Westport Island. This home is gorgeous, spotless, spacious and has a beautiful view. The decor and furnishings are so inviting. You are able to park your car in the attached garage, so convenient. The home also has a whole house generator, so no worries about losing power. The hot tub is just a few steps from the back door and is excellent, so fresh and clean. The host is also excellent, so responsive to every question. This is a perfect spot for a great family vacation. If you would like to visit this part of Maine, rent this fantastic vacation home today!

Wonderful stay!

Our cabin stay was wonderful! The pictures do not do it justice. You will instantly relax while rocking in a chair overlooking the river. The kids loves having their own area to watch tv and sleep. It is remote. Just be aware of that. But it is a quick ride to the local stores.

Cousins Weekend!

What a fun weekend we had! There were 9 of us and we had plenty of room to spread out. The house is beautiful and in a scenic private location. Having a hot tub was a nice feature too! The kitchen was well stocked and there was plenty of seating for all of us. The hosts always responded quickly to any questions we had. This was our second stay here and we would come back again! If you are looking for a big beautiful home in a quiet scenic location along the coast of Maine to stay, check this home out! Donna Thomas

Summer in Maine

The house is large and comfortable and we had room for a number of guests on different weekends. It has a beautiful water view but the waterfront is not accessible. The hosts truly are super and responded immediately to any questions or requests. The kitchen could use updated cutlery and silverware to more easily accommodate cooking on the nights we wanted to stay home. If you are looking for solitude in the woods and within an hour or so of the "tourist towns, this is the place for you.

Vacation to explore the Maine coast with family from Austria

Overall the place was ok. Maybe it was my interpretation that there would be water access from the property. We found a public access spot a mile away, which was nice. Just would have been nicer and easier directly from the house. The water at the house was undrinkable…tasted like chlorine. Would have been nice to know about this so that could bring bottled water with us. The lower level bedroom smelled very musty all week. We attempted to air it out, turn on the air conditioner but to no avail. There was also a large nail sticking out on one of the stairs going downstairs. Luckily we saw it before anyone stepped on it and we addressed it. It was nice to have the hot tub and ping pong table due to the weather not being ideal…nobody can control the weather so all ok; we made the best of it.

beautiful cabin and beautiful setting

We just spent a week in this cabin with two other couples so there were six of us. We loved it!!! It is a beautiful cabin in a beautiful setting. The cabin itself is huge and had everything we needed with plenty of space for all six of us. The outside was gorgeous with view of the Sheepscott River, complete with fire pit and hot tub. We used both most every night. It is very private and remote with beautiful trees. There were only a couple things to be aware of. First, it is very hard to find at night and is on a gravel road. Second, the loft bedroom is not private. It does not have a door and does not have an attached bathroom. The loft is really better for kids. The only improvement I would suggest would be to invest in a larger TV and to maybe put another TV in the upstairs living room. There is only one very small TV in the entire house and it is in the basement. There is a screened in porch area off the master bedroom but it was usually too hot to sit out there. I would suggest maybe putting a ceiling fan out there. We loved the open kitchen and gas barbecue grill. It had everything we needed and hosts were very responsive. Would absolutely recommend Castle Rock!!!

Place is beautiful! Communication was great, house is very well maintained. They did not leave anything out for this home , did not cook much, but had everything you need. We brought our dogs, even furnish pooper scooper & disposal place . We loved it. If we are ever back we will definitely rent again. If I could give a 10 this place would be it. And we have used VRBO for years.

I cannot praise this property enough. Check-in was seamless and any questions we had were answered immediately. From the moment we stepped inside, we felt at home. Everything was spotless, warm and inviting. Although we didn’t actually cook meals, the kitchen was well equipped. The house was spacious and absolutely charming in a New England way. We appreciated several small conversation areas as we looked out upon the gorgeous scenery and wildlife, including deer and chipmunks. In the evenings we enjoyed the clean, well-maintained hot tub. It was a wonderful experience and all that we had hoped for.

Family stay in July

House is lovely and very spacious; there's a beautiful view of the river; LOTS of bedding, blankets, pillows, towels etc; very nice hot tub;Loft was functional but had NO privacy and could hear everything in the whole house. If it's just kids, the loft can work fine, but if it's adults, the lack of privacy is an issue. Basement level was pretty cold but main level was mostly at a good temperature. Ceiling fans were a big help. Only TV was a small one in the lower level, which could be an issue for some. The kitchen had adequate dinnerware, pots & pans, and silverware, but was woefully lacking in serving dishes. We cook, so that was a juggle. Overall, it's a lovely and relaxing home in a wooded setting with beautiful views of the river.
