This was such a warm. cozy stay with a beautiful view. Very relaxing and enjoyable and definitely hope to return some day! Thank you for sharing your hospitality and warmth! Thank you for the bottle of wine!
Acadia was amazing, we spent the day on outings, biking, hiking, fishing, viewing the beautiful landscape . When the evening came we just wanted a great dinner and a place to relax. The harbor at Bass Bay offered that. Very peaceful, and relaxing with several dinner choices nearby!
Great cottage- very clean and comfortable. Beautiful view of the water. Wasn’t really able to walk around the bank, even when tide was out. Other than that it was just as described— easy to find and quiet location but convenient.
Place was perfect for us - just the right size - and the location was wonderful. This was our 5th trip to ME. The host was attentive & very accommodating. We were there during a Nor'easter & she came the day before & after the worse was over to check on us. The cottage is among other cottages but plenty of privacy. Parking right outside our door, walk to the water, great happy hour deck, and some of the best cookware we have ever had at a rental. Thank You Ingrid & we will definitely return to your cottage!
Very quiet area at this time of year. Businesses were shutting down for the season - Thurstons and Seafood Ketch were both closed on Saturday night. The shower was difficult to use because of its size. Saw a couple of eagles on Daves Island.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Coveside Cottage. The location, on the shore of Bass Harbor, was great. A big wrap around deck was the perfect spot for breakfast looking out at the water. We were surprised and pleased that the deck was also a great place to hang out after dark- we were surprised that we weren't bothered by bugs at all. The cottage is simple, but had all the amenities and space we (a couple) needed. The bathroom and shower were on the small size, but worked out fine, the living/dining and kitchen areas had more than enough space. I wouldn't hesitate to return.
Staying at the cottage was the first stop on our 2 week vacation and by far the most relaxing! We stayed 1 week and the it was amazing. The cottage is very cozy and located right on the water. Seeing the boats in the distance and watching the tide change is incredible. The location is perfect since it is close to Acadia and Bar Harbor without having to deal with all the business associated with staying in town. We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip. We still have so much of the park to explore! Ingrid was a great host and has excellent communication. The check in and check out process was very simple. I would highly recommend for any couple to stay here. Thank you!
Beautiful location and a quiet little town a short drive from a beautiful National park.
The cottage is perfect for two people it is equipped with everything you would need for your stay. The owner was very responsive to our needs. The only negative thing I can say is the bed was way too firm for my girlfriend and I.
We absolutely loved this cozy & clean cottage plus the location on the queit side of the island was perfect for us. We spent 10+ days there and it felt like home. We'd definitely recommend this place & would choose it again for our next visit.
Everything was provided in the cabin you could need. Better stocked then a lot of places I rented. The cottage was also clean overall. The pictures reflected what the property actually looked like. One thing I didn’t realize is that there was no dish washer. I thought it was going to be an issue but it worked out fine. (I am one of those people that basically washes my dishes before I load them into the dish washer!) The one thing that was not reflected in the pictures was how small the shower was. You have to basically be an Olympic gymnast to shave your legs!) However I made it work. If you are a larger person the shower felt tight to me. Good location from the park. Nice stay overall and I would recommend. They could also use an additional tv in the bedroom and the view isn’t the best from the cottage due to the trees. Instead of the two chairs in the living room I would add another couch so two people can lay down if you want to. I thought the kitchen looked small on the pictures on line but it worked out just fine and had everything you needed.
Bernard and Bass Harbor are serenely just outside the tourist scrum of Acadia, and they also happen to be two of the most beautiful of its harbors. We've rented in this area many times, but Coveside is far and away the best rental we've ever had here, or, in fact, anywhere on MDI. The cottage is a tasteful but modernized version of an old Maine cottage. It's absolutely lovely and tranquil--with a sunrise watching platform, in addition to a large deck, both nestled in the trees but with water views. It's also brilliantly efficient, especially the kitchen, which is fully equipped--we used it and the very large propane grill almost every night. Although it's tempting to just enjoy the serenity of the cottage at mealtime (or any time), you're also just steps from Thurston's Lobster Pound, and from restaurants in Southwest Harbor. (There are also terrific grocery stores in Southwest--Sawyer's two outlets, in particular--and Beech Hill Farm for produce.) Ingrid was a gem--reliable, organized, but respectful of our privacy. We slept well here and enjoyed both the tranquility of the site and the proximity to Acadia. I can't recommend the cottage more highly. It was very hard to leave, in fact, and we're planning to come back soon. Reserve early--this is an absolutely wonderful rental and it books up well in advance. No wonder--it's absolutely adorable.

Excellent location, building, furniture, and everything else.
It is one of the very best VRBO,’s we have stayed in. Great views from large deck. Furniture inside and out very comfortable. All appliances worked well and were quiet. Bed very comfortable with plenty of bedroom storage. In the hot weather was able to stay comfortable there. Directions for tv and such the best we have seen. Host very available and very friendly. Have a little double seat down by beach to watch the tide. Also, had insect device that seemed to manage them very well. Little birds visited me on deck each day.
We had a great time. The rental had everything we needed. Beautiful sunrise over the bay through the pines. We had a great meal and sunset at Seafood Ketch just across the bay.
The property is at a amazing location ! The cottage is extremely clean and inviting. The owner does supply all the basic items that can be forgotten when you are packing for you stay !
This was our first trip to Maine and it did not disappoint! The cottage was everything we hoped it would be. It was so cute, clean and cozy we did not want to leave. Everyone in the area were so nice and helpful. If we ever get back to Maine we will definitely be staying here again. Ingrid had everything you could think of needing at the cottage. Beautiful setting and so peaceful there. Loved it!
We enjoyed our stay here - the property is beautiful and very well maintained. If you want a breakfast idea, bring some toast - they have for sale some fresh eggs assumedly from the chickens they keep on the property. Overall, we slept well and enjoyed ourselves!
This was the perfect place to get away from the crowds of Bar Harbor. The hiking was great here. The property was perfect for us and Ingrid was a great host. Our favorite place now!
Beautifully appointed waterfront cottage amongst the pines. The sunrises are spectacular and can be enjoyed sipping coffee from your own deck. The cottage has everything you need and Ingrid is very responsive with any questions. A short walk to Thurstons lobster pound is also a treat! Would definitely stay here again.
This cottage had everything we needed for our week long stay. The beautiful decor set the tone for nothing but relaxation. The view of the harbor from both the cottage deck and lower deck was exactly what we expected and perfect for what we were looking for. I highly recommend this cottage for any small family!!!
The cottage was very comfortable and well-maintained. We liked the decor and the location was wonderful. The back deck looks out on the harbor through a beautifully wooded area. There is also a smaller deck that you can sit close to shore and watch various birds and other sea life or just listen to the sounds of nature and boats in the harbor. We saw different gulls, ducks, a kingfisher (eating his dinner), an egret and cormorants. The neighborhood crows also entertained us with their antics.
Also, our favorite lobster place, Thurston’s Lobster Pound, is only 0.4 of a mile away.
We had a really nice stay.
The cabin is decorated beautifully and Is so comfortable and relaxing. It was super clean. What a great view from the deck and the bench nearer the water. Every bit as nice as the photographs. Highly recommended!
Our cabin was very comfortable and every detail was thought through. We bought lobsters to cook for our dinner and Ingrid brought over a lobster pot for us to cook with. We also appreciated the artwork decorating our cabin walls. Nice view and peaceful environment!
