Thank you Ken for being such a fantastic host ! This is the second time my sister-in-law and I have stayed at your lovely Bass Harbor cottage .The view of the harbor can’t be beat ! Hope to do it again next year . Kathie
This house was perfect for our week-long stay in the Bar Harbor area. It was clean, comfortable, peaceful, and very livable. The view out the front window is amazing....interesting tides to watch and beautiful sunsets to see. The location is great if you want to be away from all the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor, and yet the drive to town isn't prohibitive. Excellent lobster and seafood is within minutes (Thurston's is the best!), and the island cruise that is seen out the window is an educational and enjoyable excursion. We absolutely loved our stay and will choose this home again if we go back to the area. Ken Gott was super flexible to work with, and we have absolutely no complaints about our whole experience working with him and with renting his home. We were sad to leave!
Thank you so much for letting us share your beautiful property .
The view was incredible and the home included everything we needed to enjoy our one week stay .
My husband & I planned a bucket list trip to Acadia for 2 years. We wanted a picturesque, quiet, place to stay with a water view. We also wanted a place to relax after enjoying all that Acadia has to offer. This cottage met & exceeded our hopes. Well maintained, comfortable, beautiful view of the harbor. Easy check in/check out & responsive property owner.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this harbor-view house. Enjoyed relaxing on the front deck in the mornings and evenings. The house was clean and just the right size for us. We were glad to be out of the hustle of Bar Harbor. The Seafood Ketch Restaurant across the way from the house had delicious food and great sunset views. Island Cruises, leaving from Bass Harbor had a nature cruise that we thoroughly enjoyed. And we made several trips to the Bass Harbor lighthouse, right down the street.
It is a little out of the way from activities in Bar Harbor/Acadia, but we enjoyed the quiet. It is a nice cottage overlooking Bass Harbor and provided everything we needed for our getaway.
It took a couple of days to get acclimatized to the schedule of the lobster community at Bass Harbor. The beauty of coastal Maine, Acadia National Park, and the Mount Desert Island communities were most enjoyable. And we could walk to the Swans Island ferry. Thank you.
Enjoyed our trip to Maine. Cottage had everything we needed for our stay. Comfortable and located near restaurants, Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor.
We found this house to be very comfortable and snug. It was great to have heat and air conditioning available. The view of Bass Harbor is spectacular. There is a fairly busy road in front of the house but the view made up for it.
The bathtub could use an update and in a perfect world the master bedroom would have a king bed.
We really enjoyed our stay and would rate this house above the 2 other houses we’ve stayed in on Mt. Desert Island. It was very welcoming and we will go back.
The house was just perfect with a beautiful view of the Harbor right off the front porch! Many options for dining within 5-15 minutes. The house had everything we would have as if in our own home. We had a wonderful time and would stay here again! Highly recommend staying on the "quiet side".
The property is perfectly situated across from picturesque Bass Harbor, close to great restaurants, Acadia National Park and convenient to food shopping. I would highly recommend it to anyone. It’s perfect for a couple with or without children. Five stars!
The rental process went very smoothly and the property was better than advertised. The view of Bass Harbor, especially at sunset was terrific. We had people stopping their cars in front of the houses to take harbor pictures. Being on the quiet side of the island is a real plus. Very little traffic and the local restaurants were great. Don’t be afraid to try the road side stands, they provided some of our best meals. Highly recommend Island Cruises for a boat tour; they’re within walking distance.
Can’t wait to go back!
We really loved our stay! The location is better than we expected, quiet but close to everything. The house is lovely, kitchen has everything you need, there are plenty of towels, etc. The sunsets are gorgeous and we could enjoy them from the deck! Just a perfect getaway.
This small cottage is located across the street from a working harbor, and minutes away from two wonderful seafood restaurants: The Seafood Ketch and, across the harbor in Bernard, Thurston's Lobster Pound. If you enjoy resting and reading while lounging on the deck listening to Herring gulls squabble and watching the occasional Osprey gliding overhead, or exploring a small seaside village without having to endure the hubbub of the usual tourist meccas, then this is the place for you.
We had a wonderful time at Bass Harbor. The home where we stayed was close to restaurants, ferry and of course, water. We loved watching the tide come in and out. We were glad for option of air conditioning because it was definitely hot and humid the first two days.

Lovely view; peaceful surroundings
We loved the house at Bass Harbor. The home is well-equipped with everything one needs for an enjoyable vacation. Harbor views are lovely and restaurants are within walking distance. Just across the road is access to the water and beautiful sunsets. And, Bar Harbor and Acadia are a short drive. I would definitely stay there again.

Very Cozy and Comfortable
Very nice location with a great view of the harbor. Kitchen was well stocked with supplies and cooking utensils. Great house for bringing the pet, the backyard was perfect for him and we were a short drive to Wonder land and Ship yard trail heads for a quick morning walk. Give Thurston's a try around the bay, kitchen has all you need to cook up your own lobsters too. Bathroom could use updating but was entirely functional and useful. Tons of linens and the house was very clean and well maintained.

A little piece of heaven!
The sunsets were spectacular!!! The house was very clean and comfy. The kitchen was extremely well appointed. The bedrooms were spacious and the picture window in the living room was wonderful for watching the tides and the lobster boats come and go.
