The house and property were once incredible. A beautifully designed house on a spectacular piece of coast. Unfortunately the house and grounds have not been maintained. The views on the lower floor are obscured by overgrown plants and the pool was not useable while we were on site (the owner started working on the pool by the end of our visit). The house had not been cleaned sufficiently. Dead bugs on the floor and gecko droppings everywhere. It made it difficult to relax. If the house is more maintained and cleaned this would be an incredible destination.

Words cannot give this magical experience enough credit. This home is BEAUTIFUL- even more so than the pictures show. The property is private, not too far from town, and well maintained. The panoramic view of the ocean from the jacuzzi tub is one I won't soon forget. Amazing sunsets and sunrises. Well stocked. Pool was great to dip in between morning adventures and dinner! Love love love this home.

The master bedroom has an amazing view of the ocean. The property location was excellent. It was nice to have a private pool. However, the maintenance and cleanliness was lacking and not up to my standards.
The property was absolutely stunning. It has a few quirks. But I could not have been more thrilled with our stay. I’ll elaborate to help future guests better plan for their arrival. The views cannot be over stated. They are indescribably spectacular. The property is unique and beautiful. The home is custom with clear care in its construction. It’s clear the property was unoccupied for a time. And the current owners are bringing it back to its former glory. There are a few tiles and faucets that need repair as well as seals around some windows and screens on doors. But none of these small items interfered with our enjoyment or complete fascination with the home’s many many many charms. It was very well stocked with kitchen items. Not only pots pans and dishes, but spices, condiments, tea, there were also other household items like shampoo, conditioner etc. the only items we seemed to be missing was laundry detergent. There were also three different air mattresses that we came across though no air pump that we could find. The pool was also exceptional. Note as others have before this is a three bedroom property with an additional fold out sofa, but I highly recommend it. We enjoyed every second and are heartbroken to leave it. I would stay again in a heartbeat.
Vacationed on the Big Island for my 40th birthday celebration with my husband and our daughter. Had a great time making hreat memories! The best part of the house for us was the location, view, swimming pool and my personal favorite was the jacuzzi tub in the master bath, overlooking the ocean!
A beautiful property, comfortable, with outstanding views from every room. The owner and caretaker were friendly, prompt and a pleasure to deal with.

I stayed at this same property about 10 years ago when it looked exactly like the photos. VRBO needs to get the owners to update their photos on a regular basis to prevent people from spending big money only to be disappointed. The view from the master bedroom is this place only saving grace. When you1st arrive, you're greeted with a "squatters" structure that now attaches to the rectangle pool losing its private charm. 2nd, there are 3 abandoned cars just outside the front gate with a gate that hasn't closed in what looks like years. Instead, it's dangling and tied to a post. On the back side of the house there used to be a small yard which is now totally over grown by weeds and various trees and spiders everywhere. The hammock that was once tied between 2 coconut trees out front are now gone probably because the trees haven't been trimmed and the coconuts might fall on top of guests. This place is NOT worth the price and VRBO should remove it from their catalog. I won't be recommending this place like I have for years anymore.
We will definitely rent this home again and recommend all our friend and family. It is perfectly placed close enough (30min) to all the restaurants and shopping but very private and secluded. The owners are wonderful and so very helpful. 3 days in a row we saw whales breaching right putside the living room windows. Love this place!
Stayed at the Cliffhouse for the 8 nights in July, it was absolutely the perfect environment for our family to reconnect and relax. The host was attentive and responsive. I highly recumbent this home to anyone looking for the perfect place to unwind and relax.
Eight of us stayed on the property for 6 days. The property has stunning views from every level. The stairs may get tiring if staying for long periods and not used to them, but weren't an issue for us.
Richard was very helpful ahead of our stay and Rich, the property host, was very responsive during our stay.
Our host was amazing! The house was clean and beautiful when we arrived. They had so many seasonings and sauces to use for when cooking at the house. The host gave us amazing insight on all the fun local places to visit on the island, as well as giving us tips on saving money for fun adventures! Definitely recommend this stay! It has the best view on the island!

Glad that you had a great time!
Yes, the views and hearing the crashing waves are magical. Come back and see us again.
Gorgeous views of the ocean from most rooms. Comfortable beds, clean (besides a stained couch), and refreshing pool. The kids and I swam most every day of our stay.
Enjoyed sitting on the balcony, and definitely used the washer and dryer (so nice to have when staying a week or more).
Property manager was very responsive and quickly took care of the few hiccups we encountered.
Beautiful house!
Architecturally interesting house with amazing views
Great size, plenty of room to spread out. The master bedroom is a masterpiece, curved windows around the entire room that offers the best view! A wonderful cove right underneath the property offers crashing waves all day and night...so soothing! Good location, with small local market close by. Almost midway between Hilo and Waimea. Look forward to a return visit.
We were trilled with our 3 nights at the Cliff House. The home was very well appointed and neatly kept. We were most surprised by how beautiful and unique the home is. It is a gem. And it’s amazing to wake up and look out floor to ceiling windows of the ocean at your feet.

Yes, the home was built with a lot of care. It was built by Mike Stewart, the famous biggie boarder.
The view was amazing. However, the house was unkept and dirty. So many things were broken, including the 2 AC units in the guest bedrooms. There was also a rat that ate our food repeatedly, on top of the standard ants, centipedes, and roaches in Hawaii. If not for the view and cool nights we would have left.
Absolutely AMAZING location! The view from the bedroom can’t be beat! We watched whales breach from the bed! That was an unforgettable experience. We also saw a pod of dolphins. The kids had a blast in the private pool. It was hard to even leave the property to go see the island because this house had everything. We hiked down the private trail to the rocky beach and saw pigs on the way down. Communication with Richard was top notch! It’ll be hard to beat this VBRO experience!

World sprint trip to Hilo
We were disappointed. The home was not as advertised.
The house is lovely,
It was warm on a regular basis.
Probably due to weather, no WiFi or tv for a week.
Pool is connected to an another property, no one live there, and yes I’m a chicken, the water was cold.
Headed to the other side of the Island 👍
