Would have liked to stay a whole week. House worked well with 7 adults and three small children. Nice outdoor spaces. Owner was excellent with communications and very helpful. Master bed was extremely comfortable.
We traveled to North Carolina for a 50th birthday party. We were in the area to visit one of our favorite local wineries, Jolo. The property was in a beautiful setting with a gorgeous view of the surrounding area and the river. The walk down to the river is a bit of a trek, but once you are there, it is quite peaceful.
Working with Shane was easy. He responded to all of our questions and requests. He was close by on the property which was a little unusual. We sort of felt like we moved into his house that he had just moved out of. All in all, it was fine though.
One quick tip, do not take the kayaks to the Flippin Road bridge and ride them back to the property. There is a 6 foot, dangerous drop off on the river on the way back. Two of our guys gave it a try and were fairly shook from the experience.
When you do stay, make sure to stop and see the donkeys at the neighboring property on the way in. They love to see visitors.
The location was impressive. We were a group of 10 peoples. Once we enter the house , the feeling which we get was someone is actively living in the house , but move away to accommodate the guests. The refrigerator was full , not even a place in freezer to put your stuff. Everywhere in the house we can see that pattern. In the closets dresses in hangers. in Bathroom used brushes and used soap . That was totally unacceptable since we booked the entire house, 30 days in advance. I sent communication in Vrbo , didnt get any reply back . Closer by the check in date some one texted claiming the owner and answered the questions, i would expect all the communications with Vrbo platform. No wifi password was shared before hand. Once we reached the property , there was no connectivity for our mobile to call , and we have to go down couple of miles and text him requesting the wifi password( though it was on the welcome kit in the hall) , but never communicated. The location and house looks good , but the other things made it difficult.
We chose this as it was a good central location to get our family together for the weekend. Best thing was lots of adventure. Huge open space for kids to play in. Everyone had fun in the river, including the sons in law doing a polar plunge. Good hiking. very scenic. Just what we wanted. Only negatives were we didn't hear from the owner until 5 days before the trip, so we were getting nervous, and we had to mow the yard so the kids could play in it.
This property is absolutely beautiful. If privacy, peace and quiet are what you are looking for, THIS IS THE PLACE. We used this home for our Church Ladies Retreat. There is ample space to gather together and spend quiet time to ourselves. I would highly recommend this for any trip to the Mt Airy area. The property owner is very gracious and helpful (and patient with a group of ladies who probably bothered him more than others - lol). In a word - exceptional!!!
What an an amazing home and host! Shane is fantastic and very helpful with every step of the process. The cabin is wonderful. It has every amenity and then some! The time in the river is such a wonderful getaway but still close to home. This was our 2nd time there and it won't be our last!
Shane was absolutely a great host, if I had a question he would reply almost immediately
The house is just beautiful and has enough space for a big family
I would definitely recommend this place.
My husband officiated our niece's wedding at Moores Spring Manor in Westfield, NC. We did not want to stay in Winston Salem at a hotel, and this was perfect. Everyone was together. As we all had the same plans and events to attend. We grilled out the first night, walked to the river, enjoyed the scenery. After that, we were on the go with wedding events. The property is beautiful, very private, and very relaxing. Great place for a family reunion!
We thoroughly enjoyed our girls’ weekend at this property. Shane was wonderful to deal with - even reaching out to see if we needed anything before leaving town. The view from the back porch is breathtaking. We want to visit again when it is MUCH WARMER so we can enjoy the river.
This property has it all! The view is amazing and so were the beds! Rest assured that if you forgot something it’s a good chance Shane has it! The house is filled with love and a very eclectic decor that adds so much to the stay! The best part is the communication with Shane! He is simply the most helpful and understanding host I have experienced! Thanks for everything you made my son’s wedding weekend truly one we won’t forget!
We traveled from Ohio and North Carolina for a family gathering. We had a great time! Loved the property and the wildlife we saw through out the property. There were baby gates for our toddler and some toys and games for the older children. The hot tub was a great treat after a fun day exploring the property and sitting by the campfire by the river. Highly recommended.
The rural area was very relaxing and enjoyable to all! Not far from other attractions and the kids really enjoyed the creek area for fishing and smores! Thanks Shane, for a great trip.

Excellent Place to enjoy with family and friends in a privacy river
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this cabin as the owner furnished the home with everything. It's like a home away from home. We enjoyed the river tubing with the tubes kept in the garage, used the ATV to carry the tubes, and pick up friends in river tubing, every day walked in the private trail to see "Nancy" the donkey near the entrance. Kids enjoyed Jacuzzi. The only nice to have is "the bedroom in the basement and the windows in the gym near bunk beds may need a curtain. We strongly recommend to friends
Beautiful property with ample space. Very secluded and relaxing. The access to the river was great! Excellent communication with the owner Shane. Definitely coming back.
Amazing experience. Perfect place to enjoy nature.
The cabin was ready and clean when we checked-in. The river which flows right behind the property is all we wanted for the entire duration of the stay. The water level and rapids were perfect for our group of friends with kids aged 5 to 8. The property owner was kind enough to provide river tubes and golf cart,so we had lots of fun tubing back and forth. The entire property sits in the middle of acres of greenery so if you're a person who enjoys time away from the digital busy world then this place would make you feel great. kids enjoyed the hot tub. Poor mobile signal reception but there is wifi provided by the property. Kitchen was well stocked. Above all the property owner Shane was available over phone anytime we called him. He was extremely courteous, helpful and he made sure we have everything to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable.
