About this property

Beautifully Restored Historic Home, Easy Walk to Plaza & Railyard!

This 100 year old, single-story, historic adobe home was recently completely remodeled. It maintains its Santa Fe charm while offering you all the modern amenities, from king size beds to high end stainless steel appliances and all the accessories you will need to feel at home. The original hand-hewn viga ceilings are exquisite, the thick adobe walls masterfully done, the brick floors add warmth to the entire house. The courtyard is the ultimate sanctuary, the beautifully landscaped yard wraps around the house, the patio with its wrought iron furniture makes this the perfect place for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just wine with friends as you enjoy the always perfect climate of Santa Fe. With double adobe walls, Casa de la Fuente stays warm in winter and cool in summer but when temps are unseasonably warm the home also boasts newly installed Ductless Air Conditioning in both master bedrooms that cools the entire home.

The historic neighborhood is quiet and there is a feeling of warmth and friendliness. Take a stroll to one of the fine restaurants close by and enjoy the history all around you. From the narrow european feeling streets to the high steps and raised porches from the days of the horse and carriage.

Casa del la Fuente is named for the lovely fountain which adorns the beautifully maintained flowering garden with its meandering flagstone paths. There are colorful flowers blooming all spring, summer and into the fall. There are several places to sit and relax with a beverage and listen to the birds while in the privacy of adobe walls.

As you relax and enjoy one of the three portals you can hear the church bells ringing from the Santaurio de Guadalupe just a block away. It is one of the many historic buildings you can tour while visiting this beautiful old city. Santa Fe boasts having the oldest government building, the oldest house and the oldest church in the US. History abounds down every street. Exciting art galleries and shopping for one of a kind jewelry and art pieces. Travel back in time to 'The City Different' with it's European ambience.

There are works of art in every room that reflect the artisans of New Mexico. The decor reflects the warmth and beauty of Santa Fe. In the cooler months you are enticed into just relaxing and enjoying a fire in the pueblo style fireplace. The home has all of the amenities you could want and is within EASY walking distance to everything.

You can't beat this location, a 5 to 10 minute walk and you're at the Santa Fe Plaza; 5 minutes past the Plaza to Canyon Rd with all its galleries; 5 minutes the opposite direction and you're at San Busco Mall; 5 minutes past that and you're at the Railyard area where the farmers' market, galleries, restaurants, train depot and so much more await you.

We invite you to stay at our home and fall in love with all that Santa Fe has to offer. Casa de la Fuente, with it's adobe ambiance and beautiful decor will add old world charm to your visit.

Perfect Christmas Holiday Vacation

We absolutely loved this vacation property. The owner was so helpful and just lovely. The space was welcoming and in a great spot. The parking spots were much appreciated and we loved going for walks around the neighborhood for coffee at Iconik and our delicious dinner at Joseph’s Pub.

Beautifully Appointed and Fantastic Location!

This was a Mother’s Day birthday weekend for my mom (91), daughter , sister and myself. I only wish we had more time to enjoy this lovely adobe home. We plan to come back to do so. Easy walk to historic district. Owner is super helpful with suggestions for us first timers. I’d give it 6 stars if I could !

Absolutely fabulous stay in Santa Fe

Our host, Mary, made sure we had everything we needed and checked in to make sure we were comfortable. Adorable, traditional one hundred year old adobe home. Two beds and baths perfect for 2 couples. We enjoyed wine on the patio while grilling dinner. Half mile walk to the plaza. Plenty of restaurants, parks, groceries and churches nearby. Totally enjoyed our stay and highly recommend!

Wonderful place in Santa Fe

We absolutely loved Casa de la Fuente! It was everything described and pictured and more. Close to everything, so we were able to walk so many places. The house was so nicely setup with lots of amenities and a wonderful layout. The courtyard was so pretty and relaxing. We will definitely be back because 4 days in Santa Fe was not enough time. Thanks for making this such a special place to stay.

Beautiful property, well-maintained and close to the Plaza.

We, two couples, shared this property for a week and absdolutely loved it. It is lovely, well maitained and filled with SW-themed art works inside and out. It is close to both the Plaza and the Railyard districts for those who enjoy walking. The owner is very consciencentious and easy to deal with. We will be recommending this unit to all of our freinds and will certainly be booking it again for our next trip to Santa Fe.

Perfect for us!

This is a lovely, restored adobe home in a quiet neighborhood close to everything. We were surprised how easy it was to walk to the Railyard, the Plaza, and Canyon Road. There has been a lot of attention to detail and the comfort of guests and I would not hesitate to recommend this home for a small family or two couples visiting Santa Fe. Thank you for sharing this special piece of a very special town, The Oteros

Historic Guadalupe district gem

This home was beautifully appointed and conveniently located. The Santa Fe river walk was a block away. Railyard was a 5 minute walk (great farmer's market), and the plaza was a 15 minute walk. There were many great restaurants you can walk to (unless it is raining as in our case). And Trader Joe's was a 5 minute drive.

Lovely home in a great area of town!

Had such a wonderful stay here over Thanksgiving. Mary was super responsive and polite working with before during and after our visit. We were a group of two couples and a single friend, so five total. The pull out sleeper was comfortable and the layout of the house provides a good amount of privacy for all when needed. The kitchen was incredibly well stocked for our Thanksgiving meal cooking. The beds in the bedrooms were comfortable to the point we mentioned a couple times we may want to look in to buying the same for our own home. We loved walking to the square and the Rail Yard areas of town but also lots of great coffee shops to stroll to each morning in the area. We loved our stay so much that we will keep this one handy for future stays in the area and we highly recommend you book it now for your next visit to Santa Fe! Thank you for the hospitality! Santa Fe Style

We selected this home for our week long stay in Santa Fe because we wanted to get the feel of living in Santa Fe, not a hotel. This home met the goal! It is an old restored adobe in an older historic neighborhood. Just walking the streets of the neighborhood gives you the real feel of Santa Fe. The home is lovely with artful decor and all the modern conveniences. It even had a sleep number bed, which we enjoyed since we use one at our own home. We especially liked the sky lights which provided a lovely soft light throughout the house even with the lights turned off. The kitchen is newly updated and a real pleasure to work in. I would recommend adding a couple more pots of different sizes, another cassrole dish, and a few spatulas of different types for those of us who like to cook. Hey, how about measuring spoons and cups, too? Maybe these items where there and I just didn't find them. The owners, Mary and Jack, were easily available by phone when we had questions, and were quick to resolve any concern. The Plaza and the Railyard are within walking distance, but they are also an easy drive if you get tired of walking. We did not have a problem with finding parking places (well, maybe just a litlle) at this time of year. Don't miss the Farmers' Market at the Railyard on Saturday morning! Also, check out the shops on the side steets around the Plaza -- much more interesting than the shops on the Plaza which are more tourist oriented. We discovered Seret & Son, an international importer of goods from the East -- a vast warehouse of incredible stuff from rugs to porcelain, and more! It's like walking through a bazaar in another country. Don't miss it. We will stay at this lovely home if we are ever fortunate to travel to Santa Fe again. Thank you, Mary and Jack.

This is a beautiful property that feels like home the moment you walk into the front gate and enter the house. It is clean, beautifully decorated in Santa Fe style and very well located for walking to the rail yard, plaza and Canyon Road. The fountain in the courtyard is a soothing and peaceful feature. The property is well equipped and the property owner is accommodating and helpful and genuinely concerned about giving you a lovely experience during your stay. We could not have been happier and our pup found the home to be special as well with the walled courtyard and gated dog run. Thank you Mary for a lovely stay.

About the host

Hosted by Mary Hering

Host profile image
Mary and Jack are retired and reside a lot of the time in California. Jack was a construction superintendent most of his career. Mary, a graduate from University of CA at Long Beach with a BA in Drawing and Painting, worked as a business owner and a graphic designer. Mary has been an animal lover all of her life and with her daughter shows Pembroke Welsh Corgis all over the US. RVing is also a passion for Jack and Mary. But most of all they enjoy visiting Santa Fe, NM for the wonderful festivals and to enjoy all of the wonderful restaurants and sights and sounds of "The City Different."

Why they chose this property

Purchased in 2011 Casa de la Fuente had everything we were looking for in a vacation home. It is extremely close to the Plaza, and it is in a very old historic district of Santa Fe. The interior is warm and friendly with the double adobe walls and very comfortable layout. The brick floors and huge hand hewn vigas and board ceilings are reminiscent of building practices from centuries ago. The home is perfect for two couples with each having its own entrance and with enough separation to provide privacy. The flowering gardens are lush and inviting. The fountain adds ambiance to that afternoon al fresco dining experience. And the home is very pet friendly which was very important to us as we often travel with one of our small dogs.

What makes this property unique

Casa de la Fuente is the perfect home for two couples. The kitchen is a cook's dream. It is very well designed to save steps while preparing a meal. The front portal is perfect with it's small table and two chairs for your morning coffee. And the side portal has a BBQ and several seating areas to enjoy dining al fresco while enjoying the water sounds from the fountain near by. The living room is adequate to entertain and very comfortable yet cozy and within steps to the table and kitchen. And don't forget the Cowgirl BBQ for evenings entertainment just a couple of minutes walk. So many restaurants are so very close by.
