About this property
Uncrowded Beachfront Getaway with an Ocean view
Enjoy our highly rated beachfront condo! See our 5-star reviews!
At Southpointe Villas you'll enjoy vacation days in an intimate setting with a spacious beach and the feel of privacy and seclusion. For the perfect getaway, the complex offers comfort and value with an oceanfront pool and dune walkway.
Southpointe Villas is a small complex with only 24 units, so the communal areas are normally uncrowded. Located toward the South end of the Peninsula, the spacious complex has minimal road noise. Public access to the beach in front of the complex is very limited, making this stretch of beach unusually uncrowded as well.
Southpointe Villas is located 2.4 miles south of the Garden City Pier. The complex is within walking distance from two great restaurants at Marlin Quay Marina. The condo complex and parking lot are gated.
Linens and bath towels are included with the booking. We provide limited toilet paper, paper towels and dish detergent. You only need to bring your beach items and towels.
Shade awnings are allowed on the beach here in Georgetown County, unlike further North in Myrtle Beach (Horry County). The beach and dunes are home to turtles, foxes and wide variety of marine birds. The Garden City Pier, Murrell's Inlet Marshwalk, shopping, restaurants and fun activities are only minutes away.
Unit #11 welcomes you and your loved ones to create priceless vacation memories year-round. The summer months are for relaxing on the beach, swimming in the surf and lounging by the oceanside pool (open Easter to November 1). During the off-peak months, #11 provides a great setting for your golf or fishing trip, friends get-away, or romantic weekend.
Unit #11 is located on the third floor and has views of the inlet, Garden City coastline and the ocean. The balcony is on the Northeast side of the complex, offering afternoon shade while enjoying some of the best views at Southpointe Villas. Access to the unit is via open stairways at both ends of the complex - there is no elevator at Southpointe Villas.
The third floor has only two other units available for rent, so it offers the most quiet, private location at Southpointe Villas.
Complex amenities include coin-operated laundry onsite, a grilling area, and gated parking. One parking permit is issued per condo unit. Motorcycles are allowed.
The HOA enforces the following rules for renters:
- No recreational vehicles
- No golf carts or trailers
- No parties or events
- No pets
- No smoking of any kind is permitted anywhere in the unit or on the balcony.
This unit was remodeled in 2021. The bedding and linens are all new. The unit has new ceiling lights/fans, window coverings. For you night owls who like to sleep in, all windows have blackout curtains.
There is new furniture throughout, except for the dressers and guest bunk bed frame, which are either freshly painted or in excellent condition. The unit has cable TV and high-speed wifi. There are three flat screen TVs located in the living room, master and guest bedrooms.
We update furnishings as needed, so some photos may show a different throw pillow or wall hanging. In February 2025 we replaced the flooring in the guest bathroom.
Sleeping/Baths: The master bedroom has a king bed and a compact, private full bathroom with toilet, sink and small shower. The guest bedroom (sleeps three) has a bunk bed with a twin on top and a double below, plus a separate double bed. The living room has a trundle bed sofa (sleeps two), lounge chair and coffee table. The main bathroom is off the hallway between the bedrooms and has a tub/shower. Note that linens are included.
Kitchen: The major appliances are new with stainless steel surfaces. The kitchen cabinets are a brown/taupe color. The unit has an electric range, microwave oven, Keurig and drip coffee machines, and dishwasher.
During the summer months of June-August the minimum stay is 7 days. During the rest of the year it is 3 days.
The primary renter must be at least 25 years of age and present during the entire period that the unit is occupied. A photo ID may be requested for proof of age.
Violation of policies or rules may result in eviction and loss of rent and deposits.

Check-in Procedure:
A week before check-in, guests are provided a property description flyer, with packing suggestions.
The front door lock is keyless. Guests are sent the door code the day of check-in, after the house keeper is finished cleaning.
Check-out Procedure:
1. Load and start dishwasher (you don’t have to put clean dishes away).
2. Place dirty linens and towels in plastic bags (provided).
3. Leave nothing behind that you brought with you – remove food, trash, etc.
4. Lock the front door when you leave.
We do not make a profit on the cleaning service - we charge only enough to recover our actual cleaning and linen costs.
Corrections to VRBO's description of nearby attractions:
1. VRBO lists a "Murrells Inlet Beach", which we've not been able to locate as an actual public attraction. Murrells Inlet Marshwalk starts at Bovine's Restaurant at 3979 Bus US-17. It is a 16 minute drive from our condo, not 3 min.
2. There currently is no open waterpark close by. Wild Water and Wheels in Surfside is permanently closed. The nearest water park is in Myrtle Beach and the hours are seasonal.

About the host
Hosted by BKB Winkman

Two families purchased this vacation property for our personal use. The first three months of ownership were spent remodeling the unit, transforming it into a vacation home that we are comfortable living in and sharing with our friends. We use the condo ourselves often and keep up on maintenance and repairs.
We are making it available for rental on a limited basis. We are hoping to cultivate a short list of renters who appreciate this setting and want to return each year, just as we have been doing for the past several years.

Why they chose this property
We selected this property because of the pleasant, family-oriented community, uncrowded beach and minimal traffic on this end of the peninsula. Due to the recent remodel, this unit is one of the nicest in the complex. Public access to the beach in front of the complex is five properties away to the North and South, making this stretch of beach unusually uncrowded. Plus, there is very limited public parking along this part of S. Waccamaw Dr.
Only a third of the 24 units in this complex are offered for rent, so the complex itself is usually uncrowded. The pool and exterior of the complex are very well maintained by the owner-managed HOA. The gated entrance and parking lot provide a sense of security and isolation.
There is a nice seafood restaurant and newly expanded Marlin Quay Marina within walking distance. Within a 5-15 minute drive you can be in Garden City Beach, Murrells Inlet and the Marshwalk, with access to supermarkets, restaurants, gift shops, etc. The Murrells Inlet area offers plenty of fun activities, including boat and kayak rentals, boat tours, golfing, miniature golf, etc.
Our guest book provides a list of our favorite restaurants and attractions in the area.

What makes this property unique
This property is ideal for relaxing on the beach, swimming in the surf and lounging by the pool. The weather is usually very nice from April through November. The ocean temperature is nice from May through October. We often spend our days socializing with friends and neighbors, taking long walks on the beach, surf-fishing and playing bocce ball or skittles in the sand.
Unlike many beaches in SC, the stretch of beach in front of this complex is normally uncrowded. Even during summer weekends, there is no need to rush out early in the morning to stake out your place on the sand. We often wait until noon to bring out our chairs and always find ample space away from other people. The off-peak season of April-May and August-October is one of the best times because the beach is so vacant.
During the cooler months or when the weather turns wet, the condo offers comfortable accommodations, high-speed wifi and cable TV. The balcony is private and faces North so it is shaded during the afternoon. The hallways between the units are open to the outside air at both ends, providing a constant fresh air breeze.
A cleaning fee is mandatory, as we require the unit to be professionally cleaned between stays. Note that the cleaning fee we charge includes linen service and we do not make a profit on that charge. Our costs for cleaning services rose significantly during 2022 and we continue to evaluate cleaning service providers to offer the best value, while also providing reliable, quality services.
