About the host
Hosted by Mark Galanty
Long time VRBO owner, this is a newly listed medium to long term property. We also own a VRBO home in Pacific Palisades for over 6 years, which is currently rented long term by a French Family.
I grew up on the Westside of Los Angeles, have a family of five (5), and I am active in the restoration and preservation of the 1906 historic Canals. The canals were restored to their current beauty in 1991.
Mark grew up in Pacific Palisades, attended University of California, Berkeley for college. My wife, Caroline, is from Cleveland Ohio, attended Oberlin College, and then University of California, Davis for her J.D. Degree.
My wife and I love sharing the canals.
Active hobbies include travelers, skiers, sailors, whitewater river rafters, musicians, backpacking, camping, bicycle riding, surfing, and gardening.

Why they chose this property
The Venice Canals are a unique experience in Los Angeles and California. Only six of the original 1906 Venice canals remain. These properties are usually not available to rent on medium term basis. The canals change with the seasons, as well as the wildlife, Ducks, Egrets (Snowy and Great American) , herons, coots, etc. love to fish and swim in the canals shallow waters. The Canals are only 3.5 blocks from the quiet section of Venice Beach, and close to the artist sections of Venice Beach. Also close to Marina Del Rey, Abbott Kinney Shops, etc. Near Santa Monica, Culver City, and 90 and 405 Freeways. It is a unique experience in the expansive Los Angeles County. Always Ocean Breezes, and nice walks among Multimillion dollar homes and beautiful gardens along the canal homes.
What makes this property unique
Wildlife viewing, quiet neighborhood, walking to beach through public paths, close to Marina, and shopping districts, Neighborhood stores a few blocks away, and a 5 min drive to Supermarkets, Trader Joes, Whole Foods, etc. 15 mins to Santa Monica and Culver City, and 10 mins to Ballona Wetlands Nature Preserve. Surfing close by, and boating outside the property gate. Most sounds are birds chirping and ducks quacking. Nothing compares to a sunset on the patio.
