Cozy Cottage
We had a great stay. Well stocked kitchen(both tools and things like condiments), everything we needed we found. Very comfortable beds, quality sheets and towels. The place next door was still under construction Fall '23, but we only noticed the noise from the front yard - not inside the house. The main heat in the living room was the wood stove, which at first concerned us, but we ended up enjoying the ambiance and the process of stoking the fire throughout the day. The bedrooms have separate baseboard heaters which was nice. Sonya was super responsive and a great communicator. We discovered a mix-up after we booked, and Sonya responded within hours and resolved the issue clearly and quickly. We would definitely stay in this cottage again.

Cozy Cottage
We had a great weekend stay at the cottage! We loved to be able to take the paddle boarda out the quiet and calm lake and the views were lovely. There was a nice hiking trail (very easy) walkable from the house to access Lake Michigan. We did not have good cell service so I would recommend saving check in instructions ahead of arrival in case you have any trouble accessing details via the app. Thanks Sonya!

Peaceful and gorgeous
Low Owl cottage is super comfy with amazing views of a beautiful lake and trees. We sat on the dock and watched the orange moon rise — a memory we’ll never forget. We built a fire in the fire-pit and made s’mores. We used the SUPs and explored the clean, clear lake, and sat on the deck bird watching and listening to the sounds of nature. One of the best features is the trail through the forest to a scenic beach. Inside, the bedrooms were accommodating and the beds were comfortable. Our sons appreciated the lightening speed WiFi so they could watch movies and sports on their laptops. We had everything we needed to make breakfast and dinner, and the grill outside worked well. Sonya is a welcoming host and an excellent communicator — very responsive.

My husband and I are academics who love the natural beauty of the Great Lakes. With a family, we enjoy having access to the warmer, calmer waters of inland lakes, too. We are excited to share our perfect cozy cottage with you!

Why they chose this property

Our family fell in love with this part of the country after moving to Michigan. We are natives of Western Canada and love the beauty of the Canadian Rockies. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore has some of that natural beauty with the bonus access to the warm clean waters of the local lakes, like Little Traverse Lake, and the Great Lakes. Low Owl Cottage is cozy and comfortably outfitted without being too large. There's plenty of room to make a home-cooked meal and hang out inside if you so choose, but the natural beauty of the area will draw you outside.

Situated between Leeland and Glen Arbor, and only a half hour's drive to Traverse City, you have plenty of places to walk, shop and dine when you're not enjoying the outdoors.

What makes this property unique

115 ft of private lake access, two kayaks and SUPs for your use, and quiet access to the Sleeping Bear Dunes Trail System and Good Harbor Bay right out the front door.
