Heron Haus was just what we needed! Waking up to the sunrise over the water was magical. The home was cozy, clean and well appointed. We would stay here again!
This little house is a welcoming, lovely retreat with a gorgeous view of Mt. Rainier for anyone looking for a peaceful respite from their everyday hustle.
We highly recommend The Heron House!
What a peaceful, and gorgeous retreat. We will have lifelong family memories made at this home, and this will be a first of many trips. Thank you for making such a beautiful space for people to be rejuvenated in!
Absolutely beautiful property - Colleen & Alex were super responsive the entire stay, and went out of their way to make sure me and my family were comfortable.
If you're visiting Seattle during your stay definitely recommend coordinating with the Ferry schedule vs driving all the way around, but would absolutely stay at this property again!
Overall it was pretty good. Check in was easy. The house itself and the property was really good atmosphere. You have everything you need for cooking and eating. I wish there was one more bathroom but we managed.
We loved staying at the Heron House! My partnwr and I selected.this spot for a romantic Valentine's weekend getaway and everyrhing was perfect. The house in right on the water with unbelievable views, tide pools to explore, and a hot tub right on the back patio, ideal for enjoying the natural beauty of this special.place. There are plenty of amentities, comfy beds, great access to Port Orchard- you cannot go wrong with this rental. We would absolutely stay here again.
The house is beautifully decorated and the views are outstanding. Fabulous amenities--loved the welcome treats! Prompt communication with hosts. We would definitely stay again. Thanks!!
Hosts were great at staying in touch with anything we needed.
First morning my son and I went fishing and while on the water my wife texted "seriously this place could not be any more perfect!" The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and we loved the views and layout of the home. Cant wait to return!

Thank you, Anthony! Glad you were able to get some fresh oysters.
It was stunning! It felt very soul healing! So many herons, sea lions, ferries and eagles! I could sit on the deck all day! The hot tub was delightful! The hosts thought of everything! 10/10 would recommend.
This property is all that was advertised and so much more. Peace in every direction you look. A week stay went by in a blink. So much that you can do in the area. The property is so lovely you will find it hard to go on outings. Loved it !!!!
Spent a long weekend with my wife at Heron Haus. It was a beautiful home with amazing views. Alex and Colleen were kind and helpful and responsive. Had no issues at all. Highly recommend booking a massage from Salt and Sage, Taryn was incredible. Can't wait to go back and stay at Heron Haus again sometime soon!
We flew all the way across the country to see something new, relax, and experience Seattle. We found the Heron Haus to be the perfect place for us! The cottage is lovely through and through and Alex and Colleen shared many thoughtful touches to make us feel welcome. When we needed recommendations for where to get great seafood, they were quick to reply. There were incredible woods walks within a short walking distance from the house, the ferry to Seattle was easy to catch, and the truth is we would have been happy sitting on the deck watching seals and eagles and the ferries for the whole time. It exceeded our expectations!
If anything, the lovely photos of Heron Haus don't do justice to how beautiful it is there. You can tell how thoughtfully the owners decorated and provided all the essentials for a relaxing stay. The house has been updated so nicely but keeps some of that vintage charm. Watching the ferries never gets old and when the sun came out, hello, Mt. Rainier! We were happy to have a good grill onsite and grilled up dinner for friends. Took a soak in the hot tub one night. We'll be back!
This property is beautiful and very unique. It's right on the water, it's very modern and Scandinavian looking. We visited in the Winter, and the hot tub was amazing. Lots of stars, and sea life. Otters, sea lions, birds and more. The area is very quiet. About 15 minute drive to restaurants. Loved the area.
Only issues we had-ran out of hot tub cleaning powder on our first day...surprised they wouldn't have a back up. And both coffee makers hadn't been cleaned. Other than those two small hiccups, it was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Great linens and towels. Loved the shower. And a quick response from the owner. We'll def return!

Thank you for the feedback, we greatly appreciate it. Since your stay, we've changed cleaning companies for better consistency with the coffee pot and espresso maker, and we've stockpiled the spa shock. We hope to host you again in the future.
This older home has been beautifully restored and features modern furniture and amenities. The expansive outdoor deck space and jacuzzi provide for a super relaxing atmosphere from which to enjoy the scenery and passing ferries.

About the host
Hosted by Colleen Coleman
Alex and Colleen have been hosting for nearly a decade and bring that depth of experience into every stay they create. As the founders of Haus of Hygge, a design and marketing studio for short-term rentals, they have spent years helping other hosts elevate both aesthetics and guest experience - but The Heron Haus and The Light Keeper's Cottage are especially personal. These homes are the truest expression of their own style, standards, and love of slow coastal living. More than just vacation rentals, they are sanctuaries designed to help guests unwind, reconnect, and feel genuinely at home. When they're not working with clients or mentoring fellow hosts, you'll usually find them outdoors on the water or exploring the Pacific Northwest.
Why they chose this property
We chose this neighborhood because it immediately felt like a sanctuary. Being right on the water in Manchester gives you that rare mix of privacy, natural beauty, and proximity to Seattle. It feels peaceful and restorative, with sweeping views of Puget Sound, Mt. Rainier, Bainbridge Island, and the surrounding shoreline.
What we enjoy most is the slower rhythm of life here. The days are shaped by the weather, tides, and changing light, and there is always something beautiful to take in - from birds and marine activity to sunsets over the water. It is the kind of place where you naturally exhale. At the same time, guests can easily explore nearby trails, state parks, and take the ferry into Seattle, so it offers both retreat and adventure.
What makes this property unique
The Heron Haus stands out because it combines a truly special waterfront setting with deeply intentional design. This restored 1935 cottage overlooks Puget Sound, Mt. Rainier, Bainbridge Island, Blake Island, and Manchester State Park, creating an experience that feels peaceful, immersive, and distinctly Pacific Northwest. Inside, the home reflects our love of coastal communities around the world, with designer furnishings and collected details inspired by places like Tofino, Byron Bay, and Mexico. We wanted the house to feel warm, transportive, and personal - not like a standard rental.
