Eureka, Bay Views, Surrounded by Trees. Weddings, Retreats, Reunions, Events too
This home, built nearly 100 years ago by a lumber baron for his family, has been completely renovated for your enjoyment. The house is surrounded and hidden by 2 acres of mature trees of all kinds, including Redwoods, which were collected from around the world by the original owner. The spacious living room and dining room has the original beautiful curly redwood wains-coating, window framing and built-in cabinets and is separated from the gourmet kitchen by a see-through gas fireplace, for added warmth and charm. Each of the 5 bedrooms in the house are large and each has a private bath and a TV. There are wheelchair ramps and wheelchair friendly bathrooms to the main level.. There is a 6th bedroom, a cozy studio, with its own outside entrance but connected to the house. It is private and is separated from the main house. This studio is available to rent also but is NOT included in the price for the whole house. The bed is a daybed that can be 2 twins or 1 King. Included in per level Tier Pricing, the BAR/GAME room for your group has a wet bar, pool/ping pong table, poker and bar tables, small couch and big screen T.V./ DVR/DVD, 2 half bathrooms (one wheelchair friendly) located in the daylight basement. This room is great for parties, gatherings or just fun for the group. If you are having an event and inviting a large number of other guests for a certain day you will be required to fill out an event contract and pay an extra fee. PLEASE CHECK OUT THE RENT CHARGE CLOSELY, the Sample Quote is for only part of the house. I wanted small groups to enjoy the house too and not be scared off by the price of the whole house. In by doing so the Sample Quote just picks up the lowest price: the MAIN level with just 2 bedrooms /w 2.5 baths and the BAR/GAME Level /w 2 - 1/2 baths. Which can sleep 6 very comfortably, for $500 a night/ cleaning $200 For the WHOLE house, Which includes MAIN level + BAR/GAME level + UPSTAIRS level, which has 3 bedrooms and 3 baths at $725 a night and $350 cleaning. It is not my intention to misrepresent the $725 per night for the whole house and the Cleaning for $350. If you need any help with deciding how many rooms and levels you will need to accommodate your group, I will be happy to work with you so you get the best configuration at the best possible price, I can then adjust the sample quote for how many people and or bedrooms you will need in your group,..... 2 persons per bedroom, + (very young children, o.k). Also the Studio is priced separately, $100 a night/$ 25 Cleaning. So another possibility could be that you need only 3 bedrooms, So you would book the MAIN level with BAR /GAME at $500 a night and the STUDIO at $100 a night (you won't need the Upstairs level), with a total of $600 a night and $225 Cleaning. I want to keep the price down for the smaller groups as much as possible so more people can afford to stay and enjoy this warm and enchanting property while experiencing the North Coast and reuniting with friends and families. To help you with your assignment of rooms per bed sizes and location, here are the rooms / beds / baths broken down:
MAIN Level - Kitchen, living / dining room wheel chair ramps and wheel chair friendly baths 2 bedrooms, 2.5 baths + a washer and dryer Bedroom #1 King, tub & shower #2 Queen, just shower
BAR and GAME ROOM Level ( below main level) Additional sleeping areas Futon and 2 twins in lounge area, off bar/game room 2- 1/2 Baths, No Shower
UPSTAIRS Level- 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths and laundry room (above main level) Bedroom #3 King, tub/shower combo #4 KIng, and small futon, just shower #5 KIng, just shower and another laundry room
STUDIO Downstairs- (from main floor, next to Bar/ Game room) Daybed, either a King or 1 or 2 twins with just shower ( has separate entrance )

This property was perfect for our huge family of 16 to spend 4 days together for my 50th birthday! Everyone had a bed except the youngest children who slept in sleeping bags by parents’ beds. Fully stocked kitchen, plenty of bathrooms, 2 fridges, lots of seating, and the teens loved the pool table!
Beautiful, spacious, comfortable beds, wonderful showers, interesting history, this home is worth the stay and accommodates a large family nicely. We loved it!
We had a wonderful time in this house full of history and looking through the old landscape…. It was a bit big for our party of 5 people, but we enjoyed the amount of space and the redwood wood work in the house is a historical moment to be cherished and appreciated..
Such a wonderful place to spend time with families the whole entire house is very clean from the basement to rooms and the bathrooms are spotless. Kitchen is very big and clean anything you need it there. This is the 3 or 4th time we’ve been renting this place and it’s our top favorite place. The host is easily to reach and she is the best host we have here in town
The house was perfect for our large group! Communication was great and Ruth worked with us when we needed to change our dates. Wonderful stay and we hope to return.
If I could give a ten start review, I would. The host was so incredibly helpful and nice, the house is BEAUTIFUL and a full oasis away from the regular suburbia. Quiet, beautiful, really well stocked for the guests. We were so luck and grateful to find this place. Double kitcheh, basement play room and good separation from bedrooms. Incredible bathroom, cosy and considerate.
This is our 2nd consecutive year we stayed here and it was as spectacular this time as it was last year. The house is beautiful and spacious enough for the 10 of us to sleep comfortably. The antiquities are a perfect match for the older house; it has a very warm and comfortable feel. The kitchen has everything you could need and there are puzzles and board games as well as a game room. Very fun.
House lives up to the reviews. Great property. House is huge and kitchen was huge. Lived all the decks and that people could be down in the bar area/game room and we couldn’t hear them in the living room. Views were great looking over the bluff. Enjoyed our stay a ton and will definitely book here again if in the eureka area
We had a family gathering of 18 people and stayed for 6 days and we loved the place. Having a bathroom in each bedroom was amazing. There was enough room to spread out and the house was close to everything yet had such a secluded feel due to the surrounding thick forest. The host was very accommodating and helpful. We would love to stay again in the future.
We loved our stay and all 12 fit nicely in. The open space of living and dining rooms made for great gatherings. Kitchen was well stocked with sufficient pots pans silver plates and cups for large groups. It was cozy and comfortable.
The listing does not do this venue justice. Great for large groups.

Why they chose this property
Five children, and some grandchildren, were raised in this home. Everyone is all grown up now and have gone their separate ways...this house needs to be enjoyed again, by family and friends. It would be a great place for a family reunion, a wedding, or for a group of friends to have a gathering. Or a seminar or re-treat or ??.
What makes this property unique
Shower or tub?.. Each bedroom has a private bathroom....be sure to 'dubs' the room with your favorite bathing preference. Having laundry issues during your stay? Don't fret...there are 2 sets of large capacity washers/dryers available. Sun rise or sunset? enjoy the Morning sun deck for your coffee, and the west side deck for your evening libation during a dazzling setting sun. Lovely! (poor weather conditions are not our fault) Too many cooks in the kitchen? No worries.. with our 8 burner gas stove, 2 refrigerators and 2 dishwashers ...there's room and appliances, pots n pans and cooking gadgets for all of you to enjoy.... or enjoy yourself in game room while everyone else is cooking..., it has a fully equipped wet bar, a ping-pong/pool table, and a poker table. Also a large screen TV. And a rare working player piano. There are 2 restrooms located in the bar for your convenience. And be sure to take a gander at, and be properly impressed by our array of childhood trophies ...proudly displayed! : )
