About this property

Sweetwater Boathouse is a quaint home with a gorgeous view of and access to The South Bayou on Hamlin Lake. Perfect for a couple or a small family looking to sit lakeside and have a bon fire or fish from our dock for that night’s dinner. The main bedroom is on the first floor along with an efficiency kitchen and full bath. Second bedroom is ground level where you are able to walk out to the lake.
The Boathouse is all within walking distance to our two other Sweetwater Properties so if your party is big enough you could rent all three! Just like our other properties The Boathouse is appointed with an eclectic mix of furniture and one of a kind local artwork. It is 5 miles from Downtown Ludington and 5 miles from Ludington State Park. But once you get here and lay in the hammock or sit in one of the Adirondacks you may not want to go anywhere.
Come and enjoy the view, the lake and the overall experience of Sweetwater Boathouse on the South Bayou, Hamlin Lake.

The Boathouse has a “cottage style”septic system. Please DO NOT flush anything other than toilet tissue. NO wipes even ones described as “flushable.”

We only have space for two vehicles for this property. Please park only in our designated spaces to the south side of the drive behind Boathouse sign

We provide Bath Towels but all guest must bring their own beach towels. Guest are responsible for supplying their own certified life jackets as well.

Much needed relaxing weekend

The boathouse was the perfect setting for a relaxing weekend getaway. I absolutely loved the outdoor area and the quaintness of the house. It was close to all the activities we were looking to do and the property owners gave us some great suggestions on where to go for dinner and we found their suggestion about their favorite trail and it did not disappoint. They were prompt to answer any questions and I would definitely stay here again.

Very quiet and peaceful area. Lots of options for activities within a short driving distance. Beautiful property! Fantastic hosts!

Fisherman's Perfect Rental

Staying in the south bayou keeps you sheltered from wind/waves. There's a seawall with cleats, a dock, and a smooth bottom place to beach the boat if desired. The tunnels under the road will fit most fishing boats. There's a bait shop a sand wedge away, and marine fuel just under the bridge. Can leave boat in the water all week. Kids can catch bluegill and small bass right from the seawall. Great fire pit area. Private on both sides of the back yard as well.
