About this property
Cozy 3-bedroom Cottage, Vacation Lane, on Beautiful Hamlin Lake!
You'll love our clean and cozy, historic summer housekeeping cottage located right on the waterfront. It sleeps 6-7 people, and is rented weekly June-August, Saturday to Saturday, with a 3-night minimum stay in May, September, and October. There are 3 bedrooms; one large one with a queen bed & air conditioner, and 2 small bedrooms that include a twin-over-full bunk bed for kids, and a full bed in the 3rd bedroom. Guests brig their own bed sheets and bath towels.
There is an open kitchen and living area with air conditioner, and a full bathroom with a shower. We're part of the Vacation Lane Resort Cooperative, a friendly and welcoming traditional summer cottage community. You'll enjoy swimming, kayaking, boating, fishing, lawn games, BBQing, campfires, and relaxing outdoors together on the property. A small grill and a picnic table is included with the Robin, as well as firewood for the common campfire area, and 2 kayaks for you to enjoy. You can dock your boat (18-ft limit) at the small marina, starting at $100 per week charge. You can also park your boat on the property free of charge, and launch it from the South Bayou right across the street.
We are perfectly located. It's a 6-minute drive to Ludington State Park on the Lake Michigan shore with its beautiful beaches, lighthouse, hiking trails, paddle sport trails, and picnic & grill areas. You can also boat across Hamlin Lake to the state park, or to the sand dunes in the State Forest. It's an 8-minute drive to the city beach, and downtown Ludington with its shops, parks, museums, great ice cream & fudge, restaurants and bars with live music. There is always something fun to do in the summer in this area!

About the host
Hosted by Tina & Ed Menta
My husband and I purchased the Robin / Cardinal summer cottage when we we retired from teaching in the Fall of 2018. Ed taught Theatre Arts at Kalamazoo College, and I (Tina) taught elementary school in Plainwell, MI. We're so happy to have found this charming cottage on the Vacation Lane cooperative where we are right on beautiful Hamlin Lake, surrounded by friendly neighbors, and with so many great things to do in the area. We stay on the Cardinal side of the duplex cabin as often as we can in the summer, so we will probably be there when you are, but we respect your privacy and we have separate porches and entrances. Although Vacation Lane HOA rules state that renting guests are NOT allowed to bring pets, (sorry) we have a lovely chocolate lab (always on leash) who loves to meet & greet dog-loving guests.
Why they chose this property
The Robin Cottage is the Vacation Lane resort cottage closest to the lake, the fire pit, the play area, the docks, and the swim area! We love relaxing on the grounds, sitting out on the docks, kayaking, playing ping-pong in the Gathering Place, roasting marshmallows on the campfire, watching the kids play and swim, and we think that you will, too. We are kid-friendly, and your kids will love running free and playing on the Vacation Lane property. We offer 2 complimentary kayaks for your use with the Robin rental. Also feel free to bring your own kayaks, canoe, jet ski, boat and fishing gear. Boats can be launched right across the street on the South Bayou, and parked on their trailers for free on the south side of the property. If docking your boat or jet-ski on the property, there is an 18-ft. limit and a weekly charge starting at $100, depending on size and slip, and YOU MUST RESERVE YOUR DOCK AT THE TIME OF BOOKING. There is also a jet ski and boat rental 2 doors down from us on N. Lakeshore Drive. (Guests bring their own sheets, pillow cases, and bath towels.).
What makes this property unique
Besides the accommodations right on the property, the Ludington area has so much to offer. Ludington is a resort town 4.5 miles down Lakeshore Drive, on Lake Michigan. There are beaches, a large marina, a lighthouse, dining, ice cream, fudge, shopping, parks, museums, art, and music galore! Turn right at the stop sign at Stix Restaurant, and you'll be in Ludington State Park, on the other side of Hamlin Lake, with its beautiful Lake-Michigan beach, lighthouse, hiking trails, sand dunes, canoe & kayak rentals and lots of family activity programs every week. We're still exploring all of the things to do and to see in the area!
