About this property

Secluded log cabin in Manistee Nat'l Forest with access to Lake Michigan beach.

Secluded log cabin just yards away from Lake Michigan, and bordering Manistee National Forest. 'Little Bear' cabin is nestled in a mature pine grove. Although there is no lake view from Little Bear cabin, you only have a short 250 foot walk to our other property, Big Bear lake house, here you have your own private dune on and overlooking Lake Michigan - now with access to Lake Michigan via a new set on stairs down the dune.
At the top of the dune there is a huge open yard, gazebo, and picnic area overlooking Lake Michigan! It offers spectacular views of the lake all year round, and all seasons are magnificent. The newly built stairs on the dune will take you directly to the white sand beach on Lake Michigan!
At Little Bear cabin, you have the seclusion of the forest. You can also walk directly into beautiful Manistee National Forest. The trails start a few hundred yards from your porch. This area is perfect for year round vacation fun: hiking, biking, fishing, swimming, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and is a short drive to the Little River casino.
Two bedrooms with 5 beds that sleeps 5. Your stay includes free Starlink satellite internet.
Pet friendly for house-trained, non-aggressive and well-behaved pets - max 2 pets. There is a one-time $50 pet fee per stay.
Please note: Accessing Lake Michigan is via a staircase on the high dune. Please follow safety guidelines and access at your own risk.

Very nice clean secluded cabin. A short walk to Lake Michigan to enjoy the beach ! If you don’t want to climb the stairs from the beach you can sit up top and enjoy the view. You can have a campfire at the cabin in your private back yard surrounded by beautiful pine trees. A Perfect place to stay !

Great beach

Cozy cabin across the street from the lake, easy access to Lake Michigan. Dirt road in, so your vehicle will not stay clean.

Scenic Solitude with close proximity to historic Victorian community of Manistee

Located in the vicinity of the Manistee National Forest yet still only about 10 minutes to the nearby city of Manistee. Wonderful place to visit. Take in a movie at restores historic Vogue movie theater, shop the unique stores and enjoy delicious food and local libations. In addition to the private access beach at the Little & Big Bear cabins, there are a number of amazing public beaches in close proximity. The owners/hosts of this property, Kent and Pam, have arranged for all the basics and then some. Can’t wait to return.

Wonderful Cabin

This is one of the nicest cabins my husband and I have ever stayed in. It's clean, cozy, well stocked, and a short walk from absolutely stunning views of Lake Michigan. Even with the secluded setting, there was still plenty to do nearby. Beaches, dunes, trails, and grocery stores were easily accessible. We would love to stay here again!

Wonderful experience

It's a great place to stay. Quiet (my kids were the loudest noise for miles), comfortable, and well situated for excursions to local beaches. Owners gave great instructions and recommendations on which beaches to try, as well as local store locations for anything we needed.

Great quiet place.

This a great and quiet place in the woods near the shore. It’s pretty remote but Nordhouse Dunes and Magoon Creek are good natural areas somewhat nearby with beaches that aren’t heavily used. Note that you can’t access the beach from here and you can’t walk there. Need to drive.

Quite Peaceful Cabin

We had a wonderful time enjoying the views of Lake Michigan, the wildlife, and the calmness of nature. This little cabin was a great getaway from our normal hustle and bustle. If you are looking for peace and quite in a private setting, this cabin is for you. Clean, well maintained property with the right amenities and wonderful service from owner. Highly recommended.

Perfect little getaway

Me and my girlfriend wanted to find a cabin where we would have some privacy in the woods. This is exactly what we wanted, my only complaint the pictures make it look like the cabin is on the water but it is across the street (not a big deal for us). The cabin is very well stocked with everything you could need to make your stay wonderful. Only other thing I would ask of the owner is that they put some sort of sign at the end of driveway marking it as little bear cabin, it was a little difficult to find at first. We had the best trip we have had together!!

Cozy cabin

Cozy little cabin with all you need for a comfortable stay. Sparkling clean. Peaceful and private setting to enjoy sunsets and the backyard fire pit. Great communication with owner. Plus Kent went above and beyond in helping us get set up with Starlink internet. After following his instructions in changing our iPhone settings, we were able to phone and text with no trouble. Super fast internet connection but we were so busy exploring the area and enjoying the outdoors that we barely used it.

A fantastic place to decompress

We stayed for a week and loved this property, it is a true gem. Between the pine woods in the back, the amazing lake overlooks across the street (you have access to a lake overlook) and the Manistee Forest down the road, we could have just hunkered down here and decompressed. We did go out to either Manistee (about 15 mins away) or to Ludington (about 35 mins away) once a day. We had our two dogs with us and they had a big blast. We saw great sunsets from the overlook, took leisurely walks and occasionally watched some deer running around the property. Sadly, did not bring the bikes this time, but we will be back with them soon. Kent has written up some great recommendations on what to do in the area, especially if you have dogs. We had a chance to meet him a couple of times and he is a great guy. As Kent noted in the listing, no direct beach access right now because of the erosion. He has some suggestions on how to get on the lake, including a dog friendly beach about 15 mins away. We got our beach fix that way. As other reviewers noted, the couch is so-so. The beds are better than average. But if you are looking for a secluded place to decompress, everything else is top-notch. Last time we were in the area, we stayed in Ludington near Stearns park. But staying at this cabin was a far better experience (and better value).

What makes this property unique

Little Bear is situated in a pine forest - very provided and secluded. It is also located across the road from Big Bear lake house (which we also own) - just a few hundred yards away. Renters of Little Bear are provided access to the dune and yard at Big Bear overlooking Lake Michigan. Watch the beautiful sunsets over Lake Michigan or just hang out and enjoy the yard and dune.
