About this property
La Hacienda - a living museum
Welcome to the Torres Hacienda, a museum and working ranch! This hacienda is in the New Mexico Register of historic places. It was built in 1912 by OV Torres, the patriarch and prominent sheep rancher. Eventually it was run by his son Luis O Torres as a cattle ranch and has now evolved into an exotic animal ranch. Bernice, Luis’ wife, runs the hacienda and its menagerie of mini donkeys, yak, sheep, horses, llamas and alpacas.
The ranch guesthouse overlooks the 100 year old orchard and is tastefully appointed to give you a wonderful stay. You may make arrangements to tour the family museum and visit with the animals while you are staying here.

We loved the history of the family and ranch that this VRBO was on. Bernice was so kind and the property was away from town in a rural setting but just minutes drive to town.

Mr Lannon, thank you for choosing us as your first VRBO experience! It was a pleasure to meet you and I hope you will come visit us from Colorado to experience a different season! Best to you, congrats on you son’s accomplishments!
Great stay. Perfect location 1 mile above Arroyo Seco (Sol food cafe) and 1 mile to Canoncito trailhead. We hiked 6 miles and didn't see anyone until we were almost back. Bernice was great and her place was spacious and immaculate.

Thank you so much for your kindness, Susannah! You will always have a place here at the Hacienda!
Great, cozy, clean & beautifully updated space. Perfect for my husband and me. Set on a beautiful ranch. Bernice was wonderful host, greeted us and made sure we had everything we needed. Really enjoyed walking the property and meeting all the animals- sheep, donkeys, chickens, peacocks & especially Cesar the friendly Yak! Only about 20 minutes up the mountain to get to Ski Valley. Would love to come stay again & highly recommend!!

Kristie, we are so happy you enjoyed your stay. We look forward to having you back soon!
I'm not sure how we got so lucky, but landed at this Arroyo Secco gem at an incredibly beautiful time of year. The leaves were changing color, the acequia was running in the front yard and the historic apple orchard was full of ripe apples and pears.
My teenager loved meeting our hostess, Bernice, to feed the chickens and we were able to enjoy watching the donkeys, sheep, alpaca and yaks out on the fields on the property.
We spent several lovely afternoons sitting in the rocking chairs on the wide wooden deck outside the entrance to the small casita.
This is a smaller space that accommodated 2 beautifully. Bernice provides heaters to help stay warm (this is a recently renovated historic space). The kitchen has full-size appliances and basic cooking supplies. The floors slope and are a wonderful reminder of the history of the home.
We will return to enjoy this historic ranch and space in a beautiful little town just north of Taos.
My wife and I enjoyed are stay here so much! The place was beautiful and clean, cozy, and well appointed. We had everything we needed. We loved seeing the animals and walking around the property. But most of all loved meeting Bernice and getting to know the history of her family and the ranch. What a great place, we'll be back for sure! We were close to the ski resort for fun on the mountain, and close to restaurants for the evening. Really, the perfect location for us!
We had a great 2 night stay in this clean, beautifully updated and decorated casita. The owner is delightful and can provide a lot of information about the area.
