About this property

The Stone House: A Quiet, Sweet, Lakefront Respite

The Stone House—bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and living room completely renovated in 2025—sets into the side of a hill directly on pristine Star Lake. The house front is a covered terrace directly on the lake. This is a tranquil spot, located on a 40+ acre private wooded point of land over a quarter mile from the main road, where you can relax and get away from it all.

Summers are fantastic for week-long stays. Autumn is beautiful in the Adirondacks—stay for a long weekend or an entire week. Enjoy our terrace, the lake, the trees, and our inviting fireplace.

The Stone House property features a private dock with a tied-on floating dock, a fireplace, a car park, and a terrace. The Stone House sleeps up to nine—primary bedroom with a queen bed; secondary bedroom with a double bed, bunk beds, and a loft/bed; sleeping porch with a queen and extra-long twin ( Casper and Leesa mattresses)—an en suite full primary bath, and a full hall bath with new tiled shower. Downstairs features a complete renovated kitchen, living room with a large window seat and warming stone fireplace (stocked from a private wood shed just outside the house), and a private, covered terrace overlooking the lake. Enjoy the quiet, the ducks, the loons, the smell of a good fire.

Enjoy boating on the lake on our two kayaks, canoe, or paddle board, or take the canoe to the Oswegatchie River; lots of local hiking and mountain climbing too. We provide a comprehensive handbook about the house and the surrounding area.

About the host

Hosted by Rich Maggiani

Abbie and Rich are your hosts. Abbie grew up in Syracuse, Rich in Boston. We are dedicated to ensuring your stay is wonderful and memorable.

To keep the house available to as many people as possible, weekly rentals generally run from Friday through Friday. Please contact us should you need other accommodations; we are always here to help.

Why they chose this property

The Stone House sits on a 45 acre private point of land. The entire property has been in Abbie's extended family for 100 years. We have owned the Stone House for 15 years, and welcome you to our home in the Adirondacks. We stock the house with basic necessities—condiments, kitchen staples, herbs and spices, paper products, fire wood, and more—to make your stay simpler. The kitchen is fully stocked with a wide array of pots and pans and kitchen utensils. Barbecue on our traditional grill; natural wood briquettes and liter fluid provided. Linens and towels are included in our rates. And a beautiful fireplace in the living room.

What makes this property unique

The Stone House is immediately on Star Lake with a private covered stone terrace and private dock. Staying here gives you a complete break from your day to day lives, a wonderful place to relax, enjoy, and regenerate. Guests tell us they most enjoy the absolute quiet of a daybreak, with the sun rising and reflecting on the smooth-as-glass lake. Enjoy swimming in the lake or just lounging on the dock and terrace; take our kayaks and paddle board out for a spin and be sure to stop at the slightly submerged sand bar just across the way. As we say, a quiet respite.
