Enjoy panoramic views and stunning sunsets from this exquisite upscale 3 bedroom 2 1/2 bath home located just across the street from the beach. Beach access is steps away!

This 3 level home is located almost at the end of Beach Drive in the exclusive gated Rio Sands Community. It is fully furnished with all conveniences including an elevator. The elevated height provides views that are superior to some of the beach front homes.

The bottom level has two 2-car garages (parking for 4 cars) and elevator access from the garage level to both of the upper levels.

The second level has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and tiled ocean view balcony. Enjoy the exceptionally large master bedroom with marble fireplace and walk-in closet.

On the third level is a spacious living room with marble fireplace and flat screen TV, dining area with marble fireplace, large kitchen with granite countertops, eating/game nook, 1/2 bath and balcony.

Parking is available in the 2 garages, and 2 cars can park in front of the rental (which requires passes). Maximum of 4 cars allowed. We provide the 2 passes for parking outside the garage.

During rental: Take garbage cans outside for garbage pickup and return cans to garage the following morning (if applicable to your rental dates).
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
When departing: Leave used beds unmade. Start dishwasher with your last load and leave clean dishes. Empty garbage and wastepaper baskets.
When departing: Remove perishable food. Turn thermostat off. Leave 2 inside keys, 2 parking passes and 2 garage door openers in kitchen basket.
Lock doors/windows, leave key in outside lockbox. Take garbage cans outside for garbage pickup and return next morning (if applicable to your dates).

Such a wonderful home

We had a great time staying in this lovely home. With two bad hips, I really appreciated the useful elevator access to the multiple floors, especially for our luggage and groceries. The host was very responsive and respectful. We would love to stay again in the future.

Great beach access

This house has the best location, steps away from the beach.The living areas were spacious and open to the sea air and the upper deck was perfect for relaxing.We didn’t give it 5 stars because the deck hadn’t been cleaned and there were rodent remains and bird droppings.And we never found a kettle for boiling water.

The perfect beach getaway!

This property has an amazing view of the ocean and easy proximity to the beach. We visited on a rainy February weekend but still had a fabulous time! The house is beautiful, the kitchen well-equipped and there are sand toys and body boards available which is a welcome addition when traveling with children. Highly recommended!

Fantastic Beach Week!

Spent the week in Rio Del Mar with family and friends. Wonderful home. So close to the beach. Incredible views from the assorted decks. Comfortable home with three bedrooms. The top floor great room (kitchen, dining, living) was perfect for our family gatherings. Ample room, soft, open furniture. Kitchen was well supplied. A great bonus was to have the elevator that enabled us to move our supplies in and out of the home easily. Definitely would love to rent again. The house managers were phenomenal, very friendly and helpful. Thanks for a great week!

Location great, communication with host excellent, extra towel fee odd,(packed our own in checked bag), kitchen dated but well equipped, beds comfortable. The master tub not working was a disappointment, our grand girls usually warm up in tub after playing in surf. Tub leaks at faucet, appears to have needed repairs for many months. Elevator was convenient for bags. We did not use grill, charcoal not gas. Parking ample , which is uncommon in beach communities. Overall, a fun place to stay.

Best Location

We rented this property for the location! I’m originally from the area and was so happy to take my family and kids back for a truly enjoyable getaway. The beach access and quietness of the gated neighborhood was exactly what we needed. The house itself was great. With Covid I was a little unsettled on the sticky stair hand rails and amount of dust on ceiling fans etc. This place is five star potential for sure. We enjoyed our stay. We saw dolphins from the decks, and loved hearing the crashing of the waves! A few things... I couldn’t find Dish soap (we went and bought some) or salt when needed (all out in canister). I know you are conserving water, but maybe a hose nozzle at the outside faucet to Quickly wash the sand off our feet would be very helpful. Oh and definitely got our workout in with all the stairs which we didn’t mind. Upstairs Wood toilet seat needs replacing ( we refused to use it). Again great place, I think it just needs a deep clean in kitchen, stair rails, dusting Dept. We’d definitely probably rent it again. Owners were great. From a VRBO renter to another I hope this comes as positive feed back. Easy fixes for a fabulous vacation home! Hope to be back again soon!

Amazing location, but did the cleaners even try?

Amazing views and location - just steps to the beach, ample garage space. Stocked house, though amenities are universally not modern (and some small features didn't work - e.g., hot water knob for the bathtub in the master bedroom just leaked water on the tub sides and floor, so we never could use it). Need to be honest about one major issue - unfortunately need to echo feedback from other renters on cleanliness of the house upon arrival. Not sure if the owners use their own or VRBO cleaners, but it was truly unacceptable, and they need to fire them and find a new service immediately. We took many pictures to document these issues (including before and after). It was to an extent where we went to the nearest Safeway to stock up on ~$150 of cleaning supplies including a Swiffer, and ultimately spent 6-7 hours over 2 days cleaning the place to acceptable levels (in addition to laundering all bedsheets and comforters). Not how we thought we'd be spending a beach vacation. There was built-up grime in every corner and crevice, old dried up sand under every carpet, dead bugs on every window sill, dirty windows which hadn't been touched in ages (some Windex and elbow grease got the job done, besides those which were not safely in reach), rugs and any fabric surfaces were old, stained, and musty, and the outdoor spaces were... well let's just say large dried up bird droppings on every outdoor table and the ground, which didn't appear to have been swept this year.

There were some issues...

We booked 10 days in advance - owners were lovely. Arrived at 8pm on a Friday night to check-in. Their cleaners had failed to show up that day. They were shocked...said that in 17 years that had never happened. We had a bunch of tired kids & needed sleep. They offered to pay for a hotel - suggested Best Western...not the quality/price we paid for their place. We wound up negotiating a great rate at Seascape Resort for two rooms - they said they would pay for it. Cleaners were on the way & the place would be ready in the morning. After unloading stuff for 8 people, we were tired. We told the owners we didn't want to repack in the morning & move. Some of us were planning on only a 2 night stay; others 3. It would have meant getting up extra early to check out of our hotel, driving north to put things in the refrigerator, then heading south to the Aquarium that opened at 10. They were very argumentative about refunding our entire trip - concerned about lost revenue. At some point, I added that I had medical issues & needed to give myself an infusion on Friday night & simply wouldn't have the stamina given the short turn around. The wife said, "So now your medical issues are our problem?" NO. The place not being ready was the problem. 90 minutes on the phone with them & VRBO led to a full refund. The wife told me if I wrote a negative review, "we will be right behind you." Mistakes/miscommunication happens so I wouldn't have written this except for her threating comment.

Great location. Just steps from the beach, which was so convenient. It's a quiet area of the beach, which was perfect for us. We celebrated my parents 60th wedding anniversary by renting the house and spending a few days in Aptos. It was wonderful. The owners are very friendly and helpful.

Ideal location in rio del mar

Large home with spectacular views. Elevator from garage to living and sleeping levels. Great for 6. Possible for 8 with mats on floor. Well stocked with essentials - silverware, pots, pans, coffee maker (12 cup brewer) - large fridge, washer & dryer, etc. We had a great 4 days showing out of town family the Monterey Peninsula. Highly recommend.
