Enjoy the tranquility of the Wisconsin River at rustic Jacks Cabin. Just 100 feet from the back deck flows the river, where you can fish, swim, canoe or kayak, run in the sand or watch large numbers of wildlife. There are deer, turkey, fox, eagles (and many more bird species) to be seen. Smallmouth bass, walleye and pike can be caught in the river by you and your family. The cabin is just 20 minutes from famous Wisconsin Dells or Baraboo. The Aldo Leopold Historical Site is just down the road, and Madison is a short 40 minutes away. Sit on the deck and watch the river flow by.

Beautiful location on the Wisconsin River. Sunrise didn't disappoint. Lots of nearby attractions available but also enjoyed just watching the fish jump, squirrels leap from tree limb to tree limb, and the River just pass by.
The cabin was fantastic! It was perfect for our 3 day weekend. I was amazed at how clean it was and everything you need is provided. Dogs next door were a little annoying otherwise everything was perfect. We will definitely be back!

weekend getaway in Baraboo WI
the location and cabin were wonderful. The check-in process was difficult, and I ended up having to stay somewhere else the first night. The host, however, followed up with me late that night and I was able to check-in the next day.
This property was a great (and pet friendly!) place for us to spend the night in a quiet spot near the dells. Everything we needed was provided and appreciated that the cabin even had wifi available. Kudos for making it easy to find with signage, too. Thanks for a great stay!
the cabin had everything you need. Clean towels, kitchen and even a shed with tikki torches and fishing gear.
Host was very accommodating with checkin process.
We had a wonderful stay the week of 4th of July. We enjoyed the nature and wildlife. You were not joking about those mosquitoes lol but it was so nice and relaxing
This is probably our 5th time renting Jacks Cabin. It was a great time as always. The cabin is stocked, so there isn't really any need to bring many supplies. Will definitely be back again!!!

More than amazing
Best little hideaway you can ask for. Nothing but peace and quite.
We enjoyed our stay at Jack's cabin and will definitely return. Loved the fact that the river was close to the property which we fished and floated in the river. It's so peaceful and has all the amenities you need. Thank you, John!
This cabin is all you need for relaxing. The view of the river is amazing. The leaves were changing which made it even more special. Hope to visit in the summer to play in the water. Definitely recommend
Loved the cabin. Lots of room, clean, and comfortable. Feels pretty remote, but really isn't far from Baraboo at all. Mosquitoes were really bad, but had been forewarned about that, so it wasn't a surprise. Would stay again for sure.
It’s very nice that these people have opened up their personal property to provide everyone with a peaceful getaway right on the river. And they kept this cabin clean and well-stocked with things for the country living. And it’s close enough to all of the attraction sites in the Dells and Baraboo but far enough from the hustle of it all. We were all very grateful to have had the opportunity to stay and will definitely be making a return. It beats staying in a tent in the thwarting heat and definitely beats staying in a commercial hotel.

Awesome Sand Shoreline
Rustic property, very scenic. Sand shoreline, no current when we were there in late May. We were able to walk out to sand bar and see many tadpoles, clams and minnows along the way. If you appreciate history; you can view it in some of the pics on the wall in the dining room. Or on a rainy day, if you enjoy an interesting perspective to a different time: grab a journal off the shelf from ?- 1973 - ? and read about the daily lives of the 'occupants'. SO COOL.
This is a well maintained cozy place to stay. We were impressed on the cleanliness of the cabin prior at the arrival. The beds are very comfortable along with the rest of the furniture. We cooked all except for one meal at the cabin and found everything we needed to be able to. The couple of dogs from next door are very friendly and not a bother at all. mosquitos were pesky, but that's to be expected this time of the year. We would hopefully come back in the future.
Everything was great. Everything worked. Ample firewood. Dogs only bark when you arrive, then they’re quiet. We had 8 in our group, our 25th consecutive year of camping in the area, but this our first house as we tent camped b4. 6of8 want to return. 2of8 didn’t like dealing with the mosquitos. I still give it 5 stars because the mosquitos are everywhere along the river, regardless… John Love was responsive and kind. Thank you John for sharing your family’s history and perfectly secluded home. -Rob.

About the host
Hosted by John Love
This property was purchased by my grandfather, John V. (Jack) Cairns in 1944. I spent weekends and summers there from the time I was five until I enlisted in 1968. I lived there for two years from 1973 to 1975. My grandfather willed this property to his daughter, my mother, who willed it to her four children. The only one with any personal interest in keeping the Cabin was me, so eventually I bought them out. I maintain it as a rental to pay the bills and keep it up.. John Love
