What a stunner of a sunset! We're glad you enjoyed your time by the lake. We recently made a few little upgrades to the outdoor lounge area. New, colorful runners and side tables will hopefully encourage you to relax, enjoy some apps, and take in the sunset! Thank you for staying at the cottage!

It’s a lovely place, peaceful and well located: an easy walk to the lake and a short drive into town. Also: about a half mile down the street (driving away from the lake) is a Stop ‘n Go with GREAT soft serve ice cream. The apartment feels spacious: the kitchen is well equipped and easy to use and the living room is a great place to relax. Finally, Steph was a wonderful and attentive host. Ideal!

Very comfortable accommodations and the little extras were a nice surprise. Cupboards were stocked with coffee and tea, olive oil, spices, ziplock bags and aluminum foil. Things that you might need once or twice during your stay but forget to buy or bring. The host responded quickly to communication both before and during our stay. There was a mix-up with towels that was quickly resolved I would definitely recommend and will stay again if I’m looking for accommodations in the area.

Enjoyed our stay!

This cozy cottage was perfect for our recent visit to visit family in Elkins, NH. It is located a short walk to Pleasant Lake for swimming and boating (in good weather). Steph was so attentive and helpful and provided many wonderful amenities in the cottage. This is our go-to place to stay whenever we visit the area.

peaceful retreat

My husband and I had a peaceful stay at the beautifully appointed cabin - there was good information upon check in and the air conditioning was awesome (the few days we needed it on). There were many items left in the kitchen to start our visit. There is the most lovely view from the cabin and a very quick walk to the lake - sunsets were amazing!!

The property was as described, and the location was awesome. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but we didn’t give it a perfect rating because it felt like there wasn’t quite enough thought put into preparing for guests’ arrival.A few small things made a difference. The bathroom is located across the house from the bedrooms, so we felt a night light was important. Unfortunately, both night lights provided were burnt out. We also tried using one of the three flameless candles, but none of those worked either. The soap dispenser in the bathroom was empty, so we had to purchase our own.It was unseasonable warm so we needed to strategically place the fans to keep the bedrooms cool which also was a little tricky.None of these things were deal-breakers, and they were all relatively easy fixes. However, taken together, they gave us the impression that the property hadn’t been fully checked and prepared before our arrival. With a little more attention to these small details, this could have been a five-star experience. The property itself and the location were both great.

Hi Brooke! Thank you for being our guests. I'm so glad you enjoyed the cottage's special location and that the property matched your expectations! You are absolutely right—those details are incredibly important for a comfortable stay. I'm glad you told us about the batteries, the nightlight bulb, and the soap so we can ensure the next family has a flawless experience. I usually have extras in the cabinets, so I'll audit our entire supplies reserve to make sure we don't leave anyone hanging! We hope to welcome you back for a true five-star experience next time. Thank you for your comments.

Perfect Stay

This cottage was above and beyond our expectations. It was clean as a hotel, and had so many wonderful little touches that made it feel like it was set up just for us. The location is near so many great restaurants, great skiing, hiking trails, not to mention the gorgeous lake right in front of you. Elkins is a small peaceful town that feels so relaxing. It was perfect!

Great Location

Lovely stay at the Dam Cottage. More than enough space for our family of five. The location is excellent, with a quick walk to the lake and a quick drive to the local mart / gas station if any last minute items are needed. New London downtown is also close.

we liked it so much we returned for a second stay a year later

We stayed at this same property last winter and had such a great experience that we returned this year (the best kind of review is a repeat stay, right?) Stephanie is a great host: great communication, clean property, and helpful tips on local amenities. It works well for a family with two good sleeping rooms, nice kitchen, and cozy common areas.

Great Clean Little House

Great Clean Little House, well stocked. We had a wonderful time celebrating New Years. House was clean and new and just what we wanted. Close walk to Lake Pleasant just across the street. Close to all the stores and restaurants in New London. Also, close to ski slopes of Sunapee. Will definitely rent again !

The house was comfortable.make sure you bring your electronic wall charger plugs. We did. Heat worked well.Beds were comfortable. Had a musty smell every time you came in to the place. But would soon disappear. Could use a rubber Matt in the bathtub. I fell in the shower. But all is well. A very nice relaxing place.

We're glad you enjoyed the Dam Cottage! We keep restocking phone chargers but they keep finding new homes with our guests. We'll pick up a new rubber matt, and investigate the other issue. Thank you for telling us so we can take care of these things!
