About this property
UP Riverfront Cabin with rustic charm & modern amenities. Great for families!
Let your cares wash away at our private family retreat on the banks of the Rapid River. Whether your watching the kids catch crayfish, playing yard games or enjoying your favorite beverage next to a riverside bonfire at sunset, let our family retreat be your home away for your next UP vacation. Not the right weather to be outside? Grab your beverage and a blanket and cozy up inside to play cribbage while watching the flames flicker in the pellet stove. This place has something for everyone!
Your choice of activities is endless depending on the season. Immediately around the cabin is hiking, Rapid River Cross Country Trails for skiing/snowshoeing, waterfalls to explore, bird hunting, and ORV/snowmobile trails. Driving south 5 minutes gets you to the shores of Little Bay de Noc for fantastic fishing and beaches. Driving northeast 30 minutes gets you to the shores of Lake Superior in the town of Munising, where the sights and activities of Pictured Rocks greets you. The abundance and access to waterfalls both in the summer and winter is fantastic. Don't forget about the ice fishing! I could go on but you get the point! A short 5 minute drive into the local town of Rapid River offers you your basic convinces like restaurants, bars, gas, and basic grocery. A 20 minute drive takes you into Escanaba for anything you could want, from downtown shopping to modern name brand stores.
The cabin is nicely equipped with all of the conveniences you would expect at home. From a fully stocked kitchen to sheets on the bed and fresh towels in the bathroom. Even a washer and dryer is there for your use! Also included is a 36" blackstone griddle and a pellet grill/smoker for those tasty homemade meals. You enter the cabin into a mudroom that is perfect for storing your extra gear and overstock. The mudroom stores the grill and smoker as well as an extra fridge. It is heated separately by an electric baseboard heater giving you a great place to dry your outdoor gear. The yard is very spacious with outside lighting for after hours games. The firepit can be moved around and all firewood is included, but please be respectful on the amount you use. The cabin is constantly undergoing updates and improvements as it is our personal family getaway.
The cabin has four bedrooms with the back two bedrooms accessed from the front ones. One bedroom has two sets of bunk beds, and the other two bedrooms have a pair of single twins. Enough beds for 9/10 people or two separate families! There is one full bath with a spacious shower and a second toilet in the mechanical room.
The outside of the cabin may look modern with siding and a metal roof, but the cabin walls are covered in knotty pine and rustic decor, and the inside is full of years of memories. Come make some of your own!

The location was great just off of hwy 41. Clean and accommodating for our family. The children loved the river for wading and even a net for catching crayfish!

Liked: Property conditions & facilities, communication
We had such a great time at the cabin with our family. The river was absolutely perfect for our kids, and the house was so well stoked and comfortable. We felt right at home.
We had a great stay exploring the area. Centrally located to lots of places to explore. Great to have lots of beds and large table for our family of 6. Would recommend for families! Easy to connect with host if needed.
We absolutely loved our stay at Todd's cabin! The check-in process was smooth and hassle-free, which made settling in a breeze. The cabin itself was cozy and well-maintained, and we especially appreciated the excellent kitchen facilities—it had everything we needed to cook and enjoy our meals comfortably. We look forward to stay there again in the future. Thank you!!
Todd was very responsive and accommodated all our needs. The house had everything you could want and then some. We greatly enjoyed our stay and the hospitality.
Our family enjoyed staying at your cabin. We really liked the large common space to gather ,have meals, visit and play cards. The drive down to Little Bay wasn’t bad and it made a great home base for our fishing trip. Thanks again for sharing your place. Lots of memories were made. We hope to visit again next year.
Both the property and cabin were beautiful! Excellent communication with the owner. I would highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a peaceful getaway! The river at the back provided a great amount of fun. Seriously, can't say enough good things about here!

Awesome to have another fisherman and his friends at our place and glad that the cabin was what you were hoping for. Looking forward to sharing stories with you again. Tightlines Dan!
We had a great time at the cottage. It was well stocked and had everything we needed. Our daughter loved exploring the little creek behind the house. It was wonderful being able to bring our dog up with us. We stayed five nights and the cabin was nice and centrally located to all of the different places we went to, Munising, Marquette, Kitchi iti Kippi, Garden peninsula, and Escanaba. The price was extremely reasonable compared to other places we had looked at. We would highly recommend staying here.
We enjoyed walking down the creek, and we loved how peaceful and quiet it was. We saw a doe and 2 fawns on the property also. It was clean and we had everything we needed. I would recommend a couple of boot dryers. In the mudroom! Cozy, homey cabin feel.

Thanks for staying with us. There actually is a double boot dryer just inside the door on your left.
We had a lovely time staying here. Played games, watch movies, washed our clothing from our camping trip days before. We loved the proximity to Escanaba, Fayette, and Kitchitikipi. We were able to make a couple of little day trips and relax in the evening and this great home in the woods. Great yard for yard games too! The river and property is beautiful! Thank you Todd for being a grear host!
We had a great stay in Rapid River. The cabin was fully equipped with everything we could have needed for the week. Todd was extremely accommodating and great with communication. We took side by sides to Kitch-iti-Kipi, Au Train Falls, Munising and Grand Marais. Took day trips to the Pictured Rocks, Laughing Whitefish Falls, Munising Falls, Miner’s Castle and Miner’s Falls. All super beautiful. The Upper Peninsula of Michigan is a must see. Definitely recommend this cabin!!
Very relaxing midwinter stay in early March for wife and I who sort of booked it at last minute. Host went out of way to make sure the road was well cleared and plowed as it was likely really buried in when we made our reservation after recent storms. Very clean cabin and very private set back in woods by frozen river!

About the host

Born and lived in central MI all my life. My family has been visiting the UP since I was a kid. When the opportunity to purchase our deer camp came to me, I jumped at the chance to continue making memories for my family and others.
What makes this property unique
This property is steeped in tradition as it was used as a hunt club since the mid 50's. Many of the locals have stories about the 5H Hunt Club! Years of use and neglect wore it down but with some determination and hard work it is back helping people connect and enjoy the UP!
