Luxury renovation of historic shotgun home
Total gut renovation of a historic shotgun double, 1 block from the streetcar, close (but not too close) to Tulane, 4 blocks from Oak St, and an easy 10 minute Uber downtown. I keep my home in pristine condition and I'm seeking guests who appreciate that and will treat it with care. Features two large suites (1 king, 1 queen) and a loft above the master (1 full) that shares the guest bath (ladder access - best for kids). Private backyard & grill. Dedicated workspace. Why they chose this property
The original craftsman-double house was constructed around 1900. The facade and most of hardwood floors were salvaged; the rest is new.
This is my private residence, not a rental. In return for providing a "fully stocked" home, I'm seeking guests who are clean and respectful. I clear plenty of closet/fridge/pantry/bath space for your things.
The space is best for up to 5 people (2 adults per suite and one youth in the loft). While the loft area is air-conditioned with a full bed & memory foam mattress, it's only accessible via a drop-ladder in the guest suite. My niece and nephews love it - but it's very small and not ideal for adults. I also have two air mattresses (1 full, 1 twin) that I can provide upon request.
Self check-in is provided, but I'm happy to meet you at check-in to show you the place and provide helpful tips. (Up to you & totally fine if you prefer DIY.)
There is ample free parking. I have one clearly visible exterior security camera attached to the front of the house, which captures 24/7 video and audio of the entire front porch, side alley, and parking (on both sides of the street).
The neighborhood is very walkable and friendly (grocery, coffee, restaurants), or you can take the streetcar uptown (scenic, but Uber is faster).
*Please note that I have a very quiet, professional long-term tenant living next door - in a totally separate unit on the other side of my double.

What makes this property unique
Located uptown in the historic Carrollton neighborhood, a charming and walkable area that's convenient and accessible. The St. Charles streetcar rumbles by, just a block away. Run under the live oaks trees along the tracks about 1.5 miles to Tulane University and beautiful Audubon Park. Dine at trendy Oak St restaurants. Catch some tunes at the Maple Leaf, my favorite intimate live music venue in the city. Perfect for those who want more space and greenery, with the convenience to hop a 10-minute Uber downtown anytime.
I vacuum & clean religiously; but I am a dog owner, in case you're allergic! They are only allowed on the couch; I'm happy to cover the cushions if helpful.
I do not permit ANY type of smoking inside the house. Violators will be asked to leave and/or charged a $250 abatement fee. (Smoking on the back porch - with the door closed - is just fine.)
Having rented a lot of STRs, what I miss are the little things... cookware, wine glasses, spices, working premium cable, etc. All of that is included.
The back yard is a treat (I keep it nice and spray for mosquitos monthly). So is the jacuzzi. And the Purple 4 king mattress is awesome.
