While pleasing guests is our top priority, it is often hard to make guests happy who do not make a proper reservation and cannot use the VRBO app. This guest was unhappy right from the start because she rented for 2 people but later wanted 7 people to stay. She also rented with no pets and then wanted to bring 2 pets. With a full month to straighten out her reservation the elderly guest waited 15 days to pay 1 pet fee, and then was frustrated thinking she’d already paid for both pets. The day prior to her arrival I tried to explain she hadn’t paid for the 2nd pet, and she couldn’t figure out how to use the app. She was upset about having to pay the 2nd pet fee, thinking she’d already paid it. But she had not. She was confused. That scenario played out all week. Confusion over an UPstairs master bedroom. Confusion over how to get the door code thru the app. Confusion on how to unlock the front door using a code. And confusion over why she had to use an app and follow rules. Unfortunately, this guest is not welcome to return and I would not rent to her again. I would warn other home owners to shy away from guests who cannot follow simple rules or make an honest reservation.

By the way, I just learned to Kayak myself and we had 4 in Kayaks on Monroe Bay. It was absolutely lovely. The Colonial Beach Kayak/Boat launch is nearby and parking is free at the beach right now, so double joy! Afterwards we went to Dockside Tiki Bar and had a delicious meal on the beach. This was not a pleasant experience. Jessica changed the guest count at the last minute, and added 5 children. She exceeded the guest count allowed by the property (8) without permission, and then responded as if she was entitled to break the rules and change the numbers as she wished without taking any responsibility. She was ungrateful for the help we offered to accommodate her last minute changes. The outdoor cameras protect the home 24/7 and protect the guests as well. They only cover the door so there are PLENTY of areas where guests can relax if they are camera shy. All of this is 100% communicated in the listing, rules, description, and messages prior to check-in. Renting my home is a not hard and we have 5 years of 5-star reviews. It's difficult for us to work with disrespectful renters who fail to make an accurate reservation, are entitled and threatening, and then want to blame us that they rented a house with simple, practical rules (like guest count must match the reservation, don't bring 5 children when you said you were bringing 6 adults, and don't park illegally). I'd advise VRBO home owners to avoid this renter.
