About this property

Bledsoe’s River Inn. Cottage in the heart of wine country near Mtns. & Mayberry

Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, just 18 miles to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Enjoy 24 acres of private property located on the Fisher River where you can enjoy all types of fishing, kayaking, hiking, and swimming! A short drive will take you to many award winning wineries and to downtown Mt. Airy, also known as Mayberry. Also, a 30 minute drive will take you to Stone Mountain State Park or to the beautiful Pilot Mountain State Park for endless views and hiking. Welcome!!
The space
Cottage is decorated with period 1800-1850 antiques including 2 converted rope beds (one in each bedroom) and one original rope bed in the sleeping loft! So travel back in time and enjoy for a little while!

Relax on the back porch with a book, work on your laptop, or watch a movie on the second tv.

Sitting on the back patio you can view the cows grazing just past the barn and enjoy the fire pit just outside the pack door. Beyond that is the river.
Guest access
Cottage is located approximately 250 yards from the river. We invite you to bring your all terrain vehicles, golf carts, or you are welcome to drive your vehicle or walk through the cow pasture (with the friendly cows and no bull) to the river.
Other things to note
The 5th bed is a genuine circa 1800’s rope bed with a feather tic. This is only comfortable for one person but two can actually sleep on it. There is also two twin beds located in loft space.

Office space can be utilized on the enclosed back porch. There is a drop leaf table that can be pulled up for your convenience with a couple of different size chairs to choose.

Please bring your own fishing gear. No pets please!

Amazing hosts!
What a truly exceptional experience! The hosts were simply amazing - warm, welcoming, and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. The amenities were fabulous, from the well-appointed accommodation to the peaceful and private setting that offered a much-needed escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The highlight was definitely the opportunity to go kayaking on the serene nearby river, allowing us to connect with nature and relax. Additionally, having vineyards and wineries in close proximity was a delightful treat for wine enthusiasts like us. Exploring the local flavors made our trip even more enjoyable. To top it all off, the snacks provided were a wonderful surprise and added an extra touch of thoughtfulness to our stay. We couldn't have asked for a better place to unwind and create lasting memories. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a tranquil retreat with wonderful hosts and incredible amenities!

Why they chose this property

This house has definitely been a labor of love. This farm belonged to a lady by the name of Sadie Hutchens. We befriended Sadie when we moved close by and she chose us to carry on the legacy of her family (The Miller's) farm. This is the result of wanting to honor her wishes!!

What makes this property unique

We offer peace, relaxation and kayak adventures with easy access to and from river.
