We love staying here in this cozy home with a great location for walking into town. This was our second time staying here, and would love to do it again. Wendy consistently provides a welcoming service to their place.

We love having your group Molly! Thanks for taking such great care of the home. We can’t wait to have you again
Beautiful home and host was quick to respond. My family had a wonderful time during our visit; this great location served as the perfect ‘home base’ to enhance our experience. Highly recommended for larger groups looking for a comfortable, convenient, and luxurious accommodation in Marquette!
A beautiful home that welcomes you with plenty of room for sleeping and entertainment! The location is equally as fantastic - in walking distance to Black Rocks Brewery and all of the 3rd Street businesses!
The ambiance and the interior design is first rate. The property is very comfortable and spacious. We loved our time at the property and only wish we had stayed longer. We will definitely book this property again!

Thank you Valerie. We are glad you had a great time
Our family was visiting Marquette to enjoy some winter festivities, but the home was so comfortable and welcoming that we had a hard time talking ourselves into walking out the front door! Gorgeous and clean home, perfect location to walk everywhere, and seamless communication with host. Accommodating for larger groups who want vacations and/or staycations!Highly recommend
Undersold. Beautiful home, nice neighborhood. Wendy and David are great hosts. Marquette is a great city and the house is in a great spot. Everything was great. Thank you
We needed a place for our family to gather in preparation for a destination wedding in Marquette and the setting was perfect, close to the venues and full of character, making the stay amazing. Thank you!!

We love having the perfect spot for several generations to enjoy together
The house is huge and perfect for large groups, or two families and friends like we had. So many places for people to hang out, both inside and outside, as well as a large dining table, a fire pit and all the amenities anyone could want. And it's within walking distance of Lake Superior, Blackrocks Brewing, Contrast Coffee and tons of other places to grab a bite or a drink. I can't recommend it enough!
Wendy was fantastic! The property is large, clean, high quality, well prepared and well thought out. Marshmallows for s’mores, snacks, great central location and Blackwater Brewery is a hopping spot! Thanks Wendy! We’d like to come back next year!
We had a great time at this house and the owners are great! It's walkable/bikeable to many things. We walked to the NMU football game in the dome, rented bikes next door to bike to blackrocks to jump off the cliffs, walked to downtown for the restaurants and bars, went on a hike and more. There was more than enough room for everyone and the house came with everything we needed for our stay. We enjoyed grilling on the flatop as well as normal grill, watching football in the spacious living room, using the sauna and more. Plenty of space to park. The house was extremely clean and cozy. We really enjoyed our stay here and would stay here again in a second!

Beautiful historic property
The house had a fantastic location and beautiful aesthetics. We loved the multiple seating areas inside and the inviting outdoor spaces with a porch and firepit. Both kitchens were well-equipped and beautifully designed. There were a couple of minor issues to mention. The bathroom door on the main floor wouldn't lock, which caused some inconvenience. The AC was not adequate on a super hot day. We also encountered bugs in all of the bedrooms. The cleaning checklist seemed quite extensive! For instance, washing, drying, and putting dishes away took a significant amount of time, which felt like a chore during our short vacation. Perhaps streamlining the checkout instructions could improve the guest experience. Overall, this is a lovely property, and with a few adjustments, it could be even better.

Ralph,
Thank you for the feedback on the door lock. We will get that fixed. We have had temperatures in the 50s and 60s at night all summer so it is possible that the splits were set at a temperature above this and they were heating the house. I wish you would have called us during your stay and we could have addressed the AC issue. I did test all splits before renting and they all went to mid 60s in temperature. As far as bugs I have never seen bugs. Is it possible one of the guests left a window open and that is what caused the bugs to enter and the AC to not work. It is hard to problem solve after the fact. I would suggest in the future that you contact the host with problems in the home instead of waiting until the review to mention them. We are in town and could have taken care of anything quickly if given the chance. We will look into all that you have mentioned and address them to the best of our ability. We will be sure to let our future guests know how to have the best stay possible.
About the host
Hosted by Wendy Hill Manson
Hi! We’re Wendy and David, longtime Marquette residents who have called this community home for nearly 30 years. We’ve spent years exploring the waterfalls, beaches, trails, restaurants, and hidden gems that make this area so special, and we love sharing those discoveries with our guests.
We believe a vacation rental should feel more like staying in a friend’s home than simply checking into a place to sleep. Whether you’re looking for the best sunrise, a favorite local restaurant, a scenic hike, or a quiet beach, we’re always happy to point you in the right direction. We live nearby, so we’re available if you need us, but we’ll also give you the privacy to relax and enjoy your stay.
Our hope is that you’ll leave with wonderful memories of Marquette and feel inspired to come back again.
Why they chose this property
We chose this neighborhood because we chose to make it our home. We’ve lived here for over 28 years, raised our family here, and watched our children grow up exploring everything Marquette has to offer. We still love the friendly neighborhood, the convenient location, and how easy it is to reach downtown, Lake Superior, hiking trails, and all of the area’s outdoor adventures.
Now that our children are grown, we have more space than we need, and we love sharing our home with visitors while we’re traveling. We hope you’ll enjoy this neighborhood as much as our family has over the past three decades and leave with a few favorite Marquette memories of your own.
What makes this property unique
One of the things guests love most is having plenty of space to gather together while still enjoying the comforts of home. After a day of hiking, exploring waterfalls, biking the trails, or swimming in Lake Superior, you can unwind in the private cedar sauna, relax around the backyard fire pit, enjoy dinner on the back deck, or sip your morning coffee on the inviting front porch. The home also has a small fenced backyard that’s perfect for spending time outdoors.
This isn’t just a place to sleep—it’s a place to slow down, reconnect, and make memories. Whether you’re planning a family vacation, a weekend with friends, or celebrating a special occasion, the Four Square Home offers the warmth, character, and amenities to make your stay memorable.
