About this property
Chic Historic Luxury on the Delaware River
Set along the banks of the Delaware River and surrounded by woodland, The Lodge is a distinctive country retreat where historic character, relaxed sophistication, and the beauty of the rivers ever evolving landscape come together.
At the heart of the property is the original home built in 1830 and brimming with original architectural detail. Upon entering, under the welcoming covered porch, beamed ceilings, wide-plank floors and multiple fireplaces give the house a wonderfully warm sense of history. Inside, those original elements are balanced by an open, comfortable layout and a beautifully renovated chefs kitchen with high-end appliances—creating a home that feels authentic rather than precious, and equally suited to quiet weekends or gatherings with family and friends.
The original house includes three upstairs bedrooms and two baths with period finishes while the adjoining modern wing brings a more contemporary sensibility. At the heart of the barn extension is an expansive great room featuring a dramatic two-sided fireplace and multiple sets of French doors opening toward gardens and the river beyond. Accessed via a dramatic open staircase the upstairs in anchored by a gallery with vault ceilings flanked by a twin bedroom and a queen bedroom with vaulted ceilings both sharing a lovely skylit bathroom. The expansive primary suite includes a spa-like bath and dressing area.
The 1.8-acre property unfolds through broad lawns, mature specimen trees, flowering gardens and intimate outdoor sitting areas, all surrounded by the privacy of the woods. A secluded swimming pool is tucked among the trees, while terraces and covered porches provide numerous places for outdoor dining, entertaining or simply enjoying the landscape.
Across quiet Old River Road, the property continues all the way to the Delaware, with approximately 350 feet of private river frontage. A staircase descends the riverbank to a private waterfront deck—a peaceful spot for morning coffee, sunset drinks, launching a kayak or simply watching the river pass by.
The setting offers remarkable access to one of the most beautiful stretches of the Delaware Valley. The Delaware & Raritan Canal towpath is just outside the property, making it possible to walk or bicycle for miles along the river and canal. Bull's Island State Park and the pedestrian bridge to Lumberville are walking distance away, as is the historic Black Bass Inn. Charming River towns including Frenchtown, Stockton, Lambertville and New Hope are brimming with restaurants, galleries, and shops and all within easy reach. Stockton is a 6 minute drive with Lambertville, New Hope and Frenchtown each about 12 minutes away. Despite its accessibility, The Lodge feels wonderfully removed from everyday life—a private riverside hideaway surrounded by trees, gardens and water, with nearly two centuries of history at its heart.
We look forward to welcoming you!
