Perfect beach location

Very nice for growing family. Pool very clean. Plenty of outdoor furniture. Two refrigerators. Only complaint was that the oven did not get very hot so we only used it once.

Quite beach getaway. Not a busy beach town

The house was nice and easily accommodates a lot of guests. Well-kept interior. Oak Island is a quiet beach town. A little too quiet for our personal taste. It's mostly just beach houses, a handful of restaurants, and a couple of grocery stores within 10-15 minutes. This place is great if you just want a beach vacation and to mostly make meals at the house. Golf is nearby, but not the typical beach tourist traps like in Myrtle Beach, so make sure it's the right destination for you. Also, we have an electric vehicle and charging stations on the island are few and slow. Bring a mobile charger to use at the house if this applies to you. Complaints: -Spotted cockroaches in the kitchen and master bathroom. -The loud humming from the pool pumps of this house and the adjacent ones really took away from the ocean peacefulness when using the decks or sleeping with the windows open. -The TVs in the two master suites didn't work.

Good location, poor communication

The property was essentially as expected based on the pictures. It was adequate for our stay but it definitely isn't luxurious. The furniture isn't the most comfortable but it was okay. The good: We paid extra to have the pool heated for our November stay, and the pool was nice and warm for our kids to swim. The house location is great being right on the water. Many bedrooms and bathrooms mean the house can comfortably accommodate a large group. The bad: The beds are NOT made when you arrive; you have to put sheets on every single bed you plan to use (sheets are provided, just to be clear). The towels are very old and low quality, almost threadbare; they're also mis-matched colors. Plumbing fixtures and bathrooms are in need of updating. Showerheads are extremely low-flow. There are marks on many of the toilet seats and some of the toilets are very slow to flush. The light bulbs in the entire house are blue-white light (like flourescent lights). While communication with the management company was fine prior to our stay, they never responded to our text messages, emails, or VRBO messages we sent during our stay.
