We really enjoyed how secluded this home was. Deer and chipmunks frequented the back yard.
Only suggestion: With no cell service we couldn’t text the manager and couldn’t find where she lived so, with WiFi, an email contact may be more effective if needed.
We checked in late on a Friday night and received some news that forced us to leave early. The host and owner were incredibly accommodating so that was great. But, we were sad to not get to enjoy the beautiful setting. Maybe another time.
I booked on our stay way out to Colorado. Be sure to download directions when you have service. There's no service besides the wifi once you get to the house. Which was nice for us. It is about a 30-50 drive to Manitou depending on what time of day you are traveling. It is really quiet and enjoyable! areteaveling
The aspens were in full turn. We visited at perfect time. The property was perfect for our needs. We did day trips from this location and were able to prepare meals, enjoy fire pit and the wildlife.
While the location was lovely and the caretaker did an excellent job cleaning and letting us know about the property, we were disappointed with the property descriptions listed on VRBO which should have included information about the twin bed. The twin bed was an inconvenience as it was a small bed in the house up the hill accessed by unsteady steps. The owner could invest in better pillows for sleeping as well as a better stocked kitchen for eating and food preparation.
Better than what I had hoped for! This place was spacious, clean, and just as listed! The seclusion in the woods was perfect for hiking and getting away from the hussle and bussle. Caretaker had delicious cookies and brought us to her house to cuddle a new baby goat!
Highly recommend this place!
Amazing! Highly recommended
Property was well-maintained, host was great. Our issue came into play with the altitude, we struggled with altitude sickness the whole week we were there. We also didnt realize there was no A/C at the property, but opening the windows definitely helped that.
The property was beautiful. Great for families. Angela was amazing to talk with and very receptive. Very clean and the views are amazing.

Perfect for our group
Let me start by saying, this house was perfect for us. Family vacation, 6 people. We had plenty of space for all of us. Kitchen was large and had everything we needed to make meals. Grill was gas grill and worked perfectly. Nice fire pit area out back. House is very tucked away, off the beaten path, which is exactly what we wanted. We spent the days hiking and sightseeing, came back and made dinner and sat around fire pit. Can see all the stars in the night sky. We could hear coyotes in the distance. Cute little family of chipmunks live in the rocks out back. We saw deer on many occasions.
We did have complaints about cleanliness of the house when we checked in. There were noodles spilled in kitchen and the noodles lined the perimeter of the kitchen. Crumbs and drink stains on counters. Large dust bunnies. No bedding had been washed. We spent most of our first and second day cleaning and washing sheets. Majority of the dishes had been put back in cupboards dirty. I reached out to host and was told I would get cleaning fee reimbursed but that hasn’t happened yet.
Our toilet handle broke the first day. Reached out to host, they were going to send someone the next day to fix it. No one came. 4 days later still hadn’t been fixed so my father in law went and got the parts and fixed it himself. I messaged host and let them know we took care of it. No response.
Couldn’t use the dry cabin, as it was left filthy by previous guests. We did have use of the ATV which was pretty cool
This was a great place to rest with the family. Local scenery and wildlife were great. Close enough to travel to all the popular central colorado attractions.
We had the best time. The home is secluded with lots of privacy, which is what we were looking for. The wildlife was amazing as well.

Nice vacation spot
The house is very nice and the location was good. One issue was when we got there about six the door was unlocked with the dryer running. My daughter was concerned we had the wrong house so tried to email Angela(no phone service) but didn’t get an answer for right away. Did decide it was the right place. The house was great but not real clean, not terribly dirty but not clean. There were plenty of cleaning supplies available. I would recommend staying here as long as your not real concerned with cleanliness.
Great for a family or group of friends, plenty of space in and outside the Cabin.I learned there is a couple ways to get to town but there is no cell signal and your GPS may actually send you down a longer route but Florissant is actually quite close. Cozy Cabin though, plenty of firewood and a fully equipped kitchen.
The house is perfectly located outside of like national forest. We enjoyed our stay. We did have an issue with a gfi plug tripping in bathroom and keeping the lights off in the kitchen, dining room and bathroom. I tried getting ahold of the property manager listed on the paperwork but didn’t get a response. After I figured out the gfi plug was what was causing the lights to be off I was able to reset it. I still haven’t got a response from the property manager.
The property was great. There was a major snowstorm a couple of days before we were due to arrive and we weren't sure we would be able to make it. The caretaker was extremely helpful in communicating with us about road conditions. It really helped ease our minds.
We are four adult women who do “crafting” weekends a couple of times a year. The house was perfect for our needs. Plenty of room, comfy couch and beds.
Keep in mind - this house is “off the beaten path!” A few miles of dirt roads and a very steep driveway. (We all have vehicles that do well in the snow, so no problem for us.) The house sits at about 8500 feet and is tucked back in the hills north of Florissant - not really close to any stores/restaurants - but for our purposes, it was great. We generally bring enough food/drink to cover many days - even though we stay only three nights!
House was clean, kitchen well stocked with dishes, flatware, utensils, and pots/pans. Fire in the cast iron stove heats house up nicely. Property manager lives down the road. She was very responsive when we tripped the breaker on our first morning there. She came right over and flipped the breaker back on (which was behind a locked door - so we couldn’t access.). NOTE: This was NO fault of the manager or owner - one of our Ottlites shorted out!
Since it’s winter - icy/snowy, and VERY cold outside, we did NOT venture to the dry cabin. But it is heated and a very short walk up the hill from the house. It would probably be pretty nice in the summer!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here!

About the host
Hosted by Angela
I have been building homes and cabins for 30 years. We also love the outdoors, nature, and quiet getaways. We modeled this home after all the things we seek in getting away from normal life.
Why they chose this property
We chose this property because of the beauty that surrounds it and the sense that you are the only people in the area when you are there. It is surrounded by trees and wildlife. It also has a huge kitchen and dining area, great for entertaining and cooking on the grill. The dry cabin out back is a great place for the kids to play and pretend it is their own little cabin.
What makes this property unique
The most unique aspect is the wildlife. there are several chipmunks and squirrels that will eat out of your hand if you take seeds and nuts up. You can see the feeders they frequent at the entrance to the front deck. And, best of all, there is a red fox family that dens in the rocks near the trailer. In the spring, if you are quiet, you can watch them play from the deck. It is a very unique and amazing place to visit.
