Romantic Hideaway - Caribbean-styled cottage in lush tropical gardens

The perfect place to relaxā€¦a large pool is just a couple of steps from the veranda and the cut stone deck is spectacularly surrounded by palms and bougainvillea, orchids and lily ponds. The energetic can swim, the less-so inclined can just dip in every now and then as they retire to the loungers and soak up the sun.

The romantic exterior leads to the even more romantic interior, which boasts a wonderful 18th century four-poster king size bed,high airy ceilings with 2 new ceiling fans.The living area is uniquely decorated with lighting and accessories designed by a local potter. There is also cable T.V. and an additional sofa bed. Voltage is 110.There is a charming bathroom, and fully fitted kitchen area with a BBQ Weber grill by the pool. All linens and towels are included. It is an ideal base from which to explore Antigua, or just relax with a good book.

Driftwood Cottage is situated on the north coast of Antigua. Five minutes from the airport and a few minutes walk from Jabberwock Beach ā€“ the favorite beach of windsurfers and kite surfers. It is also within walking distance of an excellent restaurant, Le Bistro, and other good restaurants a short drive away. Boat trips and car hire can be arranged and St Johnā€™s and supermarkets are just minutes away.

The living area is uniquely decorated with lighting and accessories designed by Sarah - the potter. There is also cable T.V. and an additional sofa bed. Voltage is 110. There is a charming bathroom, and fully fitted kitchen area with a BBQ grill by the pool. All linens and towels are included and there is a steamer and a hairdryer if needed. Plus high speed internet throughout.

Driftwood Cottage, is on the government certified list of properties to accept guests in accordance with the current Covid-19 protocols and is an ideal base from which to either explore Antigua and come back to in the evenings, Or just relax with a good book all day and go out to discover the nightlife of Antigua. Your host,Sarah Fuller has a wealth of island knowledge and loves to help you have a truly memorable time.Sarah ran a fantastic little Pottery, samples of which are both in and around the cottage and all around Antigua. There is a wealth of information available on Antigua and Barbuda in the cottage and any trips can be booked at any time. Sarahā€™s aim is to help you enjoy Antigua as much as she does and create a holiday to remember.

Amazing little cottage and pool within a stunning Mature grounds of palms, trees, shrubs, beautiful flowers, and the wildlife with beautifully birds, lizards and tree frogs, just an amazing place to stay if you want peace and quiet and privacy. All in a lovely area of Antigua with everything close by. Sarah the owner is so nice and always there to give advice or help in any way. Total paradise. We will be back.

Charming, beautifuk guesthouse

This is a lovely guest house and pool on Sarah's property. It is authentic Antigua charm with a basic but fulsome kitchen, inside/outside living, and sleeping in an antique bed with mosquito netting. The area is quiet and the nearby beach lovely.

Fabulous stay

I cannot recommend Driftwood Cottage highly enough. We spent a glorious three days-after a busy week sailing around the island in a catamaran. Sarah is a great host: attentive but respectful of our privacy. The cottage is beautiful and the pool and gardens delightful. A great, quiet spot but literally 10 minutes from the airport! Would return in a heartbeat!

Perfect long weekend!

Sarahā€™s cottage was exactly as she described. The gardens and pool were beautiful and relaxing. We enjoyed listening to the tree frogs at night and seeing all the lizards and beautiful birds. Sarahā€™s dog Honey was adorable, and Sarah provided us with great recommendations for beaches and restaurants. We rented a car, and the cottage was convenient to all beaches..and a nice, relaxing place to come back to after exploring the island.

Beautiful cottage surrounded by tropical plants and trees

We spent a fantastic week at this lovely cottage and made full use of the gorgeous swimming pool and garden area. This charming cottage contains everything that you could possibly need for a relaxing break. Botanical garden hideaway

Sarah is such a nice host who made sure our vacation was pleasurable. The open air cottage was lovely and the grounds were beautiful, filled with a variety of tropical plants. Pool was refreshing and the king bed was luxurious. Location was very convenient to the airport. And the island is so small that we were able to easily travel to anywhere on the island with our rental car. If we visit Antigua again, we would stay here!

The perfect retreat

Only stayed for a couple of days and wished it had been for longer. What a find! Beautiful cottage in a lovely garden. The verandah, with plenty of relaxing areas, was really special. a perfect authentic getaway

This is such a wonderful cottage with an awesome pool. Sarah is the perfect hostess offering fantastic recommendations about the island. I liked the location in regard to finding food whether it's the great grocery store, superb restaurants and even delicious road stands. Since there are 365 beaches in Antigua and it only takes 40 minutes to go from one end to the other - you can easily explore a new beach every day.

Doesnā€™t get better than this!

My boyfriend and I spent 5 days in this beautiful cottage and it exceeded all of our expectations. Sarah was an amazing host and was always accommodating and available to answer any of our questions. This unique stay is situated outside of the touristy area in St. Johnā€™s and is the perfect place to relax and be surrounded by nature. We will definitely be back!

Perfect holiday cottage

We booked Driftwood Cottage because of the wonderful reviews, and were not disappointed. They are all true! We spent hours watching the different birds feeding in the beautiful lush gardens which Sarah has created. She and John are charming hosts and are very helpful in everything from where to shop, booking restaurants and the best way to navigate the local roads. We enjoyed our two weeks and will certainly return. A magical place.

Tranquil, beautiful cottage

Sarah's cottage is terrific in every way. Well appointed, comfortable and everything you might need whether you plan to lounge by the lovely pool in her superb garden or get out and explore Antigua's amazing beaches. Sarah is a wonderful host who knows everything about the area - you can rely on her recommendations. There are a number of cracking restaurants within 10 - 15mins. Live like a local in Antigua

Driftwood Cottage provided the perfect Caribbean escape. Set behind a lovely pool in Sarah's magical garden, the rustic cottage is truly a departure from the usual day-to-day. Sleeping under netting in the beautiful antique bed and listening to the birds and frogs gave us a true taste of island life. Sarah shared stories from her many years on Antigua and provided many recommendations for our stay. We loved setting out each day to explore the island then returning to our little piece of paradise at day's end. Thank you for a wonderful stay! We hope to return!

Wonderful Host And Love Honey

Peaceful getaway cottage with beautiful pool, in the perfect location. We were there to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Sarah was an amazing host and person who was conveniently in close proximity to assist with any questions or needs that we had. She was very respectful and we had wonderful conversations and really enjoyed her dog honey who plays hard to get. haha but really likes us and spent alot of time with us. Absolutely fabulous

Driftwood Cottage is a heavenly spot.Beautiful gardens, with a huge variety of plants ,surround Sarahā€™s inviting and relaxing open air cottage. Birds abound . Every detail has been attended to here. Art and pottery enhance the feeling . The pool is large and lovely. We enjoyed it immensely. A lifetime of TLC has been poured into Driftwood..No casinos or bars in the vicinity, but several lovely restaurants, and of course beaches and hiking all near by.If you enjoy beauty , peace, tranquility and charm then donā€™t hesitate. We hope to return soon.

Wonderful piece of paradise

This lovely open air bungalow is surrounded by trees and gardens in a large private yard offering a relaxing stroll. Stepping out onto the veranda one finds a comfortable dining table overlooking the beautiful large pool and poolside area just steps away. Sarah Fuller, the owner, is wonderful to talk to and full of information having lived on the island for over forty years. She takes a genuine interest in her guests and their wants and needs. The property is a short drive from several excellent restaurants and walking distance to one. We left knowing we have a new friend on Antigua! We look forward to visiting again.

Driftwood Cottage reminds one of Caribbean cottages of the past: wooden rather than concrete, where all the living happens outside. There is a spacious verandah on two sides of the cottage, where one can recline in the shade, enjoy oneā€™s breakfast or an afternoon drink, amidst the quiet peaceful park-like setting. Sarah is an exceptional host, supportive, knowledgeable and helpful. Her enthusiasm for gardening has made this a tropical paradise ā€“ indeed, one hesitates to leave the property, so appealing is the environment. A perfect place to relax and unwind. Having discovered this cottage, we are already dreaming of returning again soon.

Paradise reborn

Sarah was a super host, very knowledgeable of the island and helpful in every way. If you are at one with nature you will certainly enjoy the peace and tranquillity of bird song during the daylight hours followed by treefrogs and crickets in the evening. The pool is perfect and Sarah's garden is a delight of form and colour illustrating over forty years of planting. For those wishing to explore the island I would recommend car hire that Sarah is able to assist with. Additionally, if you seek to self cater there is a first class supermarket a short drive away. For my wife and I staying at Driftwood Cottage was one of the most relaxing holidays we have ever encountered. All in all a delightful experience.

Relaxing and beautiful atmosphere

We sadly just left Antigua and Sarah's little piece of paradise. Such a relaxing place to unwind after a day of exploring or for morning coffee before a day of exploring!! The front porch and pool setting are amazing. Inside is everything you will need in the kitchen and the bathroom and the bed is a very comfortable King bed. We did a lot of exploring of this beautiful island and Sarah's insight was priceless. She recommended a lot of beautiful beaches and lots of restaurants that we took advantage of. It's a good location out of the business of the city and close enough to everything. You are never more than 40 minutes from anything on the island. I would recommend renting a car if you want to see everything this beautiful island has to offer or you could just stay at the pool which is incredibly peaceful and relaxing. Very thankful for finding this place and thankful Sarah was such a gracious and informative host!

Perfect Caribbean Cottage

We had a most wonderful week at Driftwood Cottage . Sarah was an attentive host full of useful information about the island and even arranged for an experienced sailing friend to visit and give us first hand recommendations for our sailing trip the following week . The cottage was just what we hoped it would be - a traditional building which had previously been a schoolhouse . We slept soundly in the enormous bed listening to the sounds of the night (tree frogs, wind , early morning birdsong) and waking to the sunrise . The pool and gardens were a delight , the pool wonderful for a swim or just to cool off and the gardens so mature , colourful , tropical . We hired a car and enjoyed exploring Antigua - easy to get around and lots to see . We loved Ceciliaā€™s for dinner great food and ambience and also Casa Roots for lunch - what a location . Divine Driftwood!

This was a return visit and as I've said before it always feels like coming home. Everything about this cottage is stunning - the wrap around terrace which gives the cottage such a feeling of space, the incredible gardens, lovingly cared for and always something to wonder at (this year orchids growing from the palms!), the gorgeous hounds who are gentle and affectionate, the comfortable (enormous) bed from where you listen to the gentle song of birds in the morning, the welcoming pool (gorgeous to dip into when you want to cool down a little) and of course, the wonderful hosts, Sarah and John. You know that these hosts really want you to enjoy your stay and they will do everything to ensure you have the best time. It never feels that you are bothering them if you need advice and they know the Island so well. I warn you, it takes a good while to return to your normal routine on your return home as you will be sooooo relaxed! I can't wait until next year's visit!

Blissfully Simple

Go for a luxurious swim. Sunbathe. Swim. Walk the gardens. Grill some dinner. Swim again. Life at Driftwood Cottage is simple! We took each day slowly while staying at Sarah's cottage and still our trip passed so quickly, our singular complaint is that we couldn't move in permanently. The cottage is beautiful, private, and peaceful. The neighborhood of Hodges Bay is conveniently located relative to St. John's, the airport, and the main roads to get anywhere on the island quickly and easily. Sarah was so responsive and we really enjoyed our little chat with her. She has a wealth of information about where to go, about the island itself, and lovely stories of her time in Antigua. We would recommend Driftwood Cottage to anyone looking for an exceptionally calm, secluded spot that's not too far from anything.
