Cruizin' River Dreams - New River Todd NC Cabin Rentals

We are very proud to offer Cruizin' River Dreams with over 100 feet of river frontage on the New River on Railroad Grade Road in Todd, NC. The Railroad Grade Road follows the New River for over 10 miles. It is the 2nd oldest river in the world and has some incredible rock formations, aquatic life, and an aura that almost evokes the primordial peacefulness of the river's beginnings. To ride a tube or paddle a kayak down its meandering, slow but sure, course is certain to suggest some sense of a simpler time, childhood magic, and a “what life is all about” sigh of relief.

This beautiful log cabin on over an acre of flat land also has a mountain view which, to have both the river and a view, is an exceptional event! This three bedroom home offers comfort and quality in the whole house. With hardwood floors throughout, lots of windows for view, gas fireplace, and a spacious kitchen and living room for relaxing, playing, or cooking, it is a great family home and teh owners just added a 55" flat screen tv with blu-ray dvd for your added fun. The great room is large with cathedral ceilings and lots of wood, a stone fireplace that is 20 ft tall, granite countertops and pine cabinets and everything you need to cook a gourmet dinner except for food. Grill out and dine on the covered deck while gazing at the river and surrounding hills.

The master bedroom has its own large bath and its own private porch so you can stroll out with your morning coffee and watch the mist rise from the fields or the deer playing in the nearby hills. The King bed in the master has a pillow top luxury mattress for a great night's sleep. Sleep with the windows open in this peaceful and quiet area where the morning birds are the only noise. The cool summer nights, averaging in the 60 degree range, make for some great snuggling under the lovely mountain quilts. The other two bedrooms with queen beds are equally as comfortable and soothing with lots of windows for those cool mountain breezes.

The loft has two twin beds and an additional sleeper sofa. The upstairs loft opens out onto another covered porch with a small breakfast table for morning solitude or meditation. The view from this porch is wonderful!

For winter, the living room has a warm gas fire that adds to the ambiance. The leather furniture with mountain touches will make you feel so luxurious and at home. For winter or summer the hot tub is a plus for everyone.

The basement offers fun for all, with pool table, air hockey table, ping pong table, plus an additional seating area with video game system.

Down by the river, there is a stone fire pit with a covey of Adirondack chairs to relax and enjoy the warm fire and incredible night sky. With little light pollution, the Milky Way is fantastic! Roast marshmallows or make your S'mores, and the knee deep river is also great to wade in and definitely safe for children.

The Railroad Grade Road is a historic track of the old Virginia Creeker Railroad that started in 1917. It is now a popular place to ride or walk along the road that follows the banks of the river where cyclist, even the novice rider, can ride for miles and miles with incredible scenery and peace on a flat ten-mile trek. Take a picnic or stop at the historic Todd General Store and have a lovely lunch and stroll through the old railroad town with its tin sided buildings.

This house is only 11 miles to Boone with all its tourist attractions and fun things to do. It is very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, about 20 minutes to Appalachian Ski Mt or Blowing Rock. However, there is so much to enjoy and do at this house; you may not want to even leave. Come and have a great time!

Cruzin River Dreams has paved access all the way to the cabin.

For larger groups, consider renting this cabin with Andrew's River Haven right next door.

Lovely Spot, Lovely Time
Not a place for the physically impaired, so my sister couldn’t visit us there … but overall, our group did enjoy being at the cabin. We did not access many accessories in the cabin (no use of the hot tub, video games, TVs, floats or bikes—but we had some great air hockey challenges at night, as during the days we visited a lot of local attractions and local friends and relatives, and enjoyed each others’ company (without entertainment—except card games) while there. We (multiple cooks in the family) became a little frustrated from time to time, with the smaller size of the refrigerator, as we were booked for 10 days, and had invited our three adult children and spouses, whom came and left during our stay, as their schedules permitted, and we kept plenty of food on hand, which was difficult to store properly. We made do by using a couple of coolers to store cold foods, and went to the store more often than we had planned. It worked out alright because some of the folks had to shorten their stay or not stay at all, and we never had 10 folks overnight there at once, but fresh and frozen food storage was a bit of a challenge, even though we didn’t often have three meals a day at the cabin. Overall, the River, the perfect weather (thanks for ordering that for us 😉), and the fact that the local area there is one of our favorite places in the world made it delightful. Thanks to the owners for sharing that lovely spot.

Great property, great location, easy rental process
We loved our stay at Cruzin’ River Dreams and our experience with the rental agency. We enjoyed the freedom to check in midweek, the property was available EARLY and was very clean and well appointed. The house had many recreation items available and our family found many opportunities to stay busy or just relax at the property. We used the Guest information book on property to find several amazing hikes within an hour drive. We spent time on the river and rode bikes from the house each day. We enjoyed the friendliness of everyone we met locally. Our only disappointment was that we only went to the local restaurant, Riverside Restaurant, only 1 time during our stay. They have the most amazing french fries!
