This home is even more gorgeous than advertised. Beautiful furnishings, finishes, views, and so well equipped! The host is very responsive and helpful. We would definitely visit again!
What an experience! The house was beautiful, you don’t know how important it is to have your own bath in every bedroom! The views were amazing and plenty of things within walking distance! Made our first trip to Maine such a great experience we decided to head back in a couple of weeks! Thanks Laura for opening your home to my family and for the recommendations, we loved every minute of it!
What an amazing house! We were there with 3 other couples who are longtime friends that are now spread across the country. We enjoyed each having our own bathroom and plenty of room to spread out. The kitchen is huge and exceptionally well stocked. The only two negatives-there is a lot of street noise, which we eventually adjusted too. The big negative was that the washing machine was broken and one member of our group was planning to do laundry mid-way through the week since the amenities listed washer/dryer.

Hi Kerry,
We were so pleased you enjoyed Harbor House and all the features and amenities offered and especially that you were able to share it with your longtime friends.
Unfortunately, the washer had a problem just before your visit and the repair was not completed prior to your arrival.
I know this was very inconvenient and hoped you would have allowed us to pay for the items needing to be laundered.
We truly apologize for this inconvenience.
You were wonderful guests and very much appreciated that you stayed at Harbor House while visiting the Acadia region.
Thank you again for visiting!
Harbor house is a beautiful home in the heart of the downtown area. Plenty of restaurants and food stores close by. It was a great central location to visit the entire state. I highly recommend a stay at this deluxe property.
The house was beautiful with incredible views. So much to see and do in the area. Working with Laura was great and her suggestions for our visit were really helpful.
The house and grounds are beautiful! Everything exceeded out expectations. We explored Blue Hill and Acadia, kayaked right from the property, and had a beautiful place to return to after our adventures! Thank you, Laura!
Property was just as described and met all expectations. Kitchen was fully stocked and house was tastefully decorated, making it a truly enjoyable vacation. The host was incredible and answered many questions beforehand including where to go, what to plan each day to get the most of it and was very responsive.
The 1824 house is a spacious, lovely, historic, modernized home with Blue Hill restaurants and stores in front and a beautiful waterfront in back. Our family enjoyed the privacy of individual bedroom suites and the gathering spaces inside and out.
We couldn’t be more pleased with our home choice for our family trip! The house was beautiful and charming yet cozy and very relaxing! The beds were comfortable. Every bedroom has own bathroom. The kitchen fully stocked. Location in quaint town and about an hour to ANP. Coffee, cafe, park, hiking hill and dinner restaurant right there. Gardens surrounding house so beautiful with views of water. Check in and out progress so easy with excellent easy communications with the host. We couldn’t have picked a better house for our family vacation! I highly recommend this home!
Beautiful home in Blue Hill… very
Comfortable and well appointed! Blue hill
Is a cute little town with easy access to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. We enjoyed the park and enjoyed many hikes and swimming spots around Blue Hill . Plenty of restaurants within walking distance as well as a nice grocery and my favorite the co-op. Don’t hesitate to stay at this wonderful property!
We had 3 generations stay at the Harbor House . We rented kayaks & looked forward to each high tide to launch . The gardens were brilliantly lush & brimming with life . The home was tastefully appointed & intentionally thoughtful . So many places to walk to including restaurants , art galleries , book & toy store . The Blue Hill co op was a great spot for groceries & the local library’s children’s section had great stem activities . It was a leisurely ride to Bar Harbor & Acadia National Park .
This charmer will not disappoint .
Myself, my parents, in laws, husband and two daughters all adored this property and our week in Blue Hill. The house is gorgeous with plenty of room for everyone - large spaces to be together and nooks and crannies for a private moment. The setting is spectacular - we launched kayaks right from the lawn and paddled to the Blue Hill rock to jump into the bay. The hosts truly thought of everything including beach chairs and towels, basics like laundry detergent, spices and olive oils and more. Communication was easy and prompt. The town is lovely and the local business owners were so friendly. In particular we loved Juniper for vintage finds, and Blue Chill for artisanal ice pops. Highly recommended!
We can't say enough positive things about our stay at Harbor House. If we could add more stars, we would. Our communication with the host was outstanding, the house was perfectly situated in the center of Blue Hill, the views were picture perfect, and the house was out of a magazine. We are cooks and made meals almost every night from locally sourced and purchased food. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything our gourmet chefs could need. We had room to spread out but also comfortable gathering spaces inside and out. The bedrooms were large and comfortable. We rented kayaks and had several trips around the harbor. You can't ask for more.
This house is perfection! A beautifully appointed, well-maintained, bright, cheerful and spacious home so everyone can spread out for work or play. It has a well-stocked kitchen that is an ambitious cook’s dream. And the views? We spent as much time as we could on the patio with breath-taking views of the bay, surrounded by a meticulously maintained garden. However views from dining room, family room and master bedroom were also great. The town of Blue Hill is adorable. Local hikes, galleries, shops, kayak rentals, and proximity to Acadia National Park means there is plenty to do. Enjoy it all!
We spent an amazing week in this beautiful home! The view was gorgeous and we truly enjoyed sitting outside watching the water and the cute duck family with their ducklings! There is so much to do— hiking Blue Hill Mountain, going into Bar Harbor, Acadia, and Deer Isle, exploring Blue Hill, and finding great restaurants! Laura is a fantastic host and she answered all our questions about the area before we arrived.
Harbor House is lovely! We appreciated that each bedroom was unique and had their own bathrooms. The living space had everything we needed, including games and puzzles, and plenty of space to be together and spread out. It was hard to leave. We look forward to returning. Thank you for sharing your lovely home!
If I could give this property 10 stars I would! It’s a beautiful historic home with a lovely addition added. The VIEW is phenomenal. The kitchen is large with 2 sinks, 2 dishwashers and a large island. Well stocked with everything you need to cook. Perfect for a larger gathering. The outdoor patio was a favorite spot for morning coffee and afternoon chats watching the 11 foot tide swings. A bathroom for every bedroom. Plus a powder room in main hall. Gorgeous blooming gardens well kept by a gardener all around the house. Clean, comfortable, absolutely lovely. The quaint town of Blue Hill has fantastic gift shops, yummy coffee shops, a few great restaurants, a lobster shack, a wine shop. The wine shop was closed and opened for us just so we could grab 2 bottles for our last night. They even corked it! Arborvine restaurant was one of the best meals of the week. Don’t skip it. Laura is extremely helpful with lots of local knowledge and very quick to respond. Lacey the housekeeper went out of her way to deliver surprises we had shipped. 7 women celebrating our 60th year together. We all LOVED the house! What a spot!!! Also close to all the amazing coastal sites in Maine. Just WOW.
What a wonderful home you shared with us. We enjoyed views and ocean breezes from all angles and corners. We had quiet nooks for contemplation and areas for rousing conversations and games!
The kitchen is a delight, we had great times cooking and kibitzing. It is well stocked for with pots and pans and with plates, flatware, glasses and serving supplies. Except for the want of a microplane, the cooks among us were thrilled.
The Harbor House is perfectly located for day-trip adventures. Bar Harbor windjammer cruise was a fave, as was lunch at the Bagaduce Lunch. Groceries and other needs quickly and easily handled by the locals.
Blue Hill was lovely. Arbor Vine a real delight, sad to hear it is last summer for them. The music at Kneisal was wonderful. We could not be more pleased.
Thank you for allowing us in.
This is a lovely historic property, nicely restored for comfort. Location in Blue Hill is good for enjoying the outdoor activities of Acadia National Park area with the Visitors Center being about 45 minutes away. Although Blue Hill is small town, there are several very good restaurant options (at least two within walking distance) and at least two good grocery store options. The house itself backs up to a tidal estuary that was fascinating to watch as the tide came in and receded. Lobster fisherman loaded their boats at the pier within our view one morning.
The house itself was just as pictured. Kitchen was extremely well appointed. Each of the bedrooms has a small bathroom, which was much appreciated by family members. Both the family room and the dining room were large, lots of windows with a view, both readily accommodated our group. The layout of the house was interesting, lots of nooks and crannies and squeaky floors -- just as one would expect from a historic home that had been added onto and renovated over the years. We very much enjoyed our stay and wished it could have been longer!
After a long flight and drive (in the POURING rain), we arrived at the home in time to make plans for dinner.
We found the home to have a lot of space and character, and enjoyed our time there (when it wasn't raining) - especially driving/hiking in and around Acadia, and getting our share of seafood.
+ There were a LOT of carpenter ants in the 4 forward bedrooms and many common areas.
+ There were large cobwebs (at least 6) in the giant room ceiling.
+ Some of the kitchen ware seemed as though it had not been well-cleaned.
+ Within 5 minutes of walking in the door and the half-bath needing to be used, it overflowed all over the floor.
+ The shower in the crow's nest room is not very big, and the door hinge is not properly attached/tightened, so unless is being held closed, leaks water all over the floor.
+ There are no AC vents, so when it's on, it can't be closed off or re-directed in rooms as needed.

We were very sorry to learn that you encountered some frustrations during your stay at Harbor House.
We are available from 7AM - 11PM, Seven days a week so that we can address any concern, an emergency or a problem a guest may have as quickly as possible.
This important information is on our VRBO website, in the house Welcome Letter (Which is waiting for you upon arrival) on the rental agreement and when we send directions and check-in information.
Unfortunately, we are just learning about this 15 days after your departure date which didn't allow us the opportunity to address your concerns while you were visiting.
Sadly we could not do anything about the inordinate amount of rain we had in June and understand your frustration, especially coming from the desert Southwest.
We appreciated that you visited Maine and stayed at Harbor House.
