The house was very comfortable and in a idyllic location. Host was very easily accessible and his list of activities and restaurants as well as house highlight was informative and helpful.
The house is exactly as pictured, the beds are comfortable, plenty of room for the family. Easy check in, host was easily reachable and checked in to make sure everything was going well.
Host was amazing!! Plenty of space for a large family. We were hoping for more blinds on the windows, but we knew to expect it ahead of time from the listing. We had no problems, and the location was amazing! Quiet neighborhood and gorgeous views.
Beautiful house and perfect location for our family vacation. House was clean, beds were comfortable and having 4 bathrooms was a plus. Great views and centrally located - 30 minutes to Acadia, Bar Harbor, Bangor. Host was responsive and helpful. Highly recommend
Overall was a wonderful stay. I’m not used to not having AC other than that it was perfect!!!

We are delighted that you had a perfect stay.
Luckily, the house is located along the water that affords it great views and a cooling breeze. Most homes in Maine don't have AC, but for those rare hot days that do exist, there are both ceiling and space fans for your use. AC may be installed this winter for those rare warm days, so if this is important, feel free to check back.
The property was great! We really enjoyed our time. The river was beautiful. We really appreciated the fire pit! Thanks so much everything was great.Highly recommend!!!
The house was great for our family of 6 adults and 2 children. Loved being on the lake. View was fantastic. Made use of the kayak and loved seeing the bald eagle flying about. Not a far drive from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. And also enjoyed Ellsworth.

Thanks for your excellent review! We loved having you visit.
Just to clarify for readers, the home is on a saltwater inlet to the ocean, not a lake. Kayaking in one direction takes one to town and just around a bend to the ocean.
An American Bald Eagle has been hanging out across from the property for the past 5 or so years. Not often does one find this in the wild.
The house and property were fantastic. There was plenty of room in the house for everyone to enjoy, especially the great room. The back patio was awesome to sit and relax. Very quiet and excellent views of the river. For those that went paddle boarding on the river, they were greeted every day by a curious seal. Great place to stay!
We picked the more centralized location of Ellsworth for our Acadia/Bar Harbor touring on our first trip to Maine because Bar Harbor is pricey and crowded. This house was more than we expected it to be. The views are stunning and the deck and outside areas are very nice! As this place was mid-stay for our tour, the access to a washer and dryer was welcomed. Would definitely stay here again!
Great property! Close to Bar Harbor and Acadia. Suggest Whale Watching Tour and sunrise at Cadillac Mountain. We also kayaked on the river right behind the house. Lots today in the area. Enjoyed having a place that was central to what the family wanted to do. Owner kept in touch and was very responsive to our requests. Would go back again!!

The kitchen oven and kitchen toaster should have been cleaner. There needs to be clarity on BR’s with bathroom availability! It isn’t really logical to use the bathrooms with 4 couples.

We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and thank you for feedback. We are proud of the recent 4 years consisting of 40 guests giving only 5 star reviews.
Unfortunately, we had a last minute substitute cleaner with this turnover and it sounds like the oven wasn't inspected as it should have. We target a clean home for your enjoyment and it sounds like the rest of this huge home met that standard.
The home does have 5 bedroom sleeping areas and 4 bathrooms. It is super well set up for three couples with their completely own space. And it accommodates 10 people by sharing some of the spaces. Over the past decade of renting, we have also had many other sets of four couples who have been delighted with the home. We are happy to answer questions of other future renters as well.
Rented this property for myself and 4 other coworkers from across the country while we in the area for training. While we put in very long days at work, it was so good to come back to a place that felt like a vacation. I don’t get that kind of feeling from staying in hotels, which I stay in frequently, so this was a treat, especially with the quiet location and amenities of the property. Will definitely look to stay here the next time we get together in this part of Maine!
From the moment we step in to the house we knew we had made the right decision. The view of the river was fantastic. We discovered an eagles nest across the river and watched it catch fish a soar up and down the river. The house was equipped with everything we needed we highly recommend this property to anyone traveling to the Bar Harbor area. The next time we visit Maine, we will definitely stay there. It was a pleasure speaking with the owner. He also sent a list of places to visit and the best places to eat
The property is very private, surrounded by woods. The home was perfect and full of windows overlooking the river that wrapped around the point. The pictures do not do it justice. There is plenty of room to relax indoors or out. Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are nearby as many other local destinations. We enjoyed sitting around the fire pit and kayaking just out the back door. The host was very attentive and easily available to contact, if needed. Staying in this home and the beautiful spot it’s on was in and of itself a retreat. We hope to return.
For our group of 10, the spacious layout of this property was awesome. Jonathan was most helpful right from the early stages of booking. Thank you.
A couple of items that would have been helpful in the property description: no AC, & no blinds to keep out early morning sun
One member of our family is wheelchair bound so the entrances were challenging, but with a couple of strong family members we were able to make do. Once inside great. Many thanks.

Thanks for your great rating. We are glad you loved your stay.
We welcome large groups and also give incentives for small groups.
As with most homes in Maine, the home does not have AC, but does have the advantage of being on a peninsula with a breeze coming off of the water. It is a Lindal Cedar home with cathedral wood ceilings, an open floor plan, and windows that look at the water from every room in the house. We do not claim to be wheel chair friendly or handy capped accessible.
Our family of six adults stayed at the house for 7 days. Great layout for my mom since bedrooms and common areas are located on the same level. House is located on a beautiful spot by a river away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor which is about a 30 minute drive. Easy access to Bangor airport which was about a 45 minute drive from the the house. The house is bright with lots of large windows and an open floor plan with lots of gathering spaces and there is a large deck space which is well shaded by trees. Jon is a very hands-on host and very accessible when we had questions. Kitchen was well stocked for cooking simple meals. We had a relaxing and enjoyable week.

We are delighted that you had an enjoyable stay and liked the house. Perfection is what we shoot for with every visit. Although we didn't achieve that with this review, we hope to do so with all others and upon your return in the future.

Beautiful views in a great location!
We were 2 families of four making our first trip to Maine. We chose this house due to it's size and location. We had plenty of room to spread out, and, as advertised, the views of the river and the convenient location made it a great place for us to enjoy Bar Harbor and Acadia! The owner was wonderful to deal with and very helpful. We had everything we could possibly need, and the descriptions in the listing were accurate, but two things we didn't realize, which would have been helpful to know, were: 1) The upstairs master bedroom with the only king bed is actually a loft (open to the living area below). The adults in our group wanted privacy and quiet, so two children ended up getting the master bedroom! 2) The bedroom with the futon did not have a door, so that was another sleeping area without privacy. Overall, this home, although a bit dated, was a lovely and enjoyable place to stay!

This newer home for New England was built in 1997 and was designed with a modern floor plan by a Seattle company called Lindal Cedar Homes, hence the very open and airy feel. As the online photos show, there are windows in every room and one photo even shows the openness to the master bedroom upstairs. Few rooms have shades (2 bedrooms), but the only neighbors around are the people that you bring with you, as 5 acres of privacy is a bonus and luxury along the coastline. The fifth bedroom with the futon does not have a door and could double over as a study, hence the reason why the home is best suited for 8-10 people despite the very large space. A great vacation from city living and a spot where you can see the stars from your bed at night. We have had guests look at multiple properties in the area and chose this one because of the high quality and value of what they are renting.
We are four couples that have traveled together for years. This is on of the best homes we have ever stayed for our fall vacation. The owner was very quick to respond to any questions we had. The property is secluded along a quiet river with impressive viewes. There is plenty of room both inside and outside the home. Acadia National Park is a short drive away with amazing views and trails for all levels of hikers. And don't forget, this is LOBSTER country. Visit one of the many lobster pounds in the area.

About the host
Hosted by Jon Fanburg
We lived in this beautiful home for 10 years before moving to Portland, Maine because of our jobs. I won't sell the home because I LOVE the home and location. We have shared the home with over 100 happy renters over the last ten years - just check out the great reviews.
Why they chose this property
True tranquility made us buy this house. Large rooms with high ceilings and big windows make you feel like you are part of nature. At night, you can see the stars from you bed. An added perk is being only 20 minutes from the hiking of Acadia National Park. But you don't even need to travel that far, as seals, osprey, and bald eagles hang out along the river's edge out back of the house.
What makes this property unique
LOBSTER - I LOVE IT. I use to park my boat out back and go check the traps each morning. For those without a boat, you can buy it fresh within 10 minutes of the house (both cooked or live).
