Great Week

Our family of 15 thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cider House. The location was perfect. We experienced an unusual heat wave but, with windows opened and an abundance of fans we survived. The property was great for the kids to play outside or inside. Lots of room to spread out. Overall our stay was great.

The best family vacation EVER!

We are a very lucky family- 4 generations strong, and we get together for a week every summer. Our family has grown over the years, and this vacation at Cider House included all 15 of us! From our 3 yr old to the nearly 80 year olds, everyone had a wonderful time. From cooking and eating together (we are COOKS) to games on the lawn, to quiet evening chats, and music to dance to..roosters and chickens who visited, and a perfect location for all activities (we scoured the Park and shopped and ate in town!) Mom said it best- it’s a page from your favorite sweet summer novel. Our host was delightful, a true kind soul. We will carry the memories- some of us might not be able to make the trip again, but we have these special memories and moments to cherish! Thank you!

Relaxing with lots of space

Beautiful older home, very comfortable. Bedrooms were all comfortable. We love gathering in the kitchen dining area for eating and games. The children ages 5 to 12 enjoyed exploring the house and playing in the yard. Internet was spotty at times but other than that and Beautiful vacation. Perfect location.

Great house and great host!

This house was very large and easily fit our group. Everyone had their own room and there were still some left over! The kitchen was up to date and there were three dining tables so everyone could fit. Patricia was very responsive - check in and out were very easy.

Charming farmhouse

The house was perfect for our large group. We had a mix of kids and adults and the house provided plenty of space for us to spread out. The kids loved playing hide and seek in the many rooms. The kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked and having laundry was a huge plus. The location was close to downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia. We would definitely stay here again!

Home Away from Home!

The Farmhouse had plenty of large spaces for our family of 12 adults to gather for meals, drinks, and games, as well as smaller areas to retreat and enjoy a book or some quiet time. The seven bedrooms were very clean and comfortable. The large deck was great for morning coffee and evening drinks. The place was charming and allowed us to enjoy our trip to New England in the Fall! 🍂🍁

Extended Friends and Family Trip

We really enjoyed staying in this rental! It had lots of quirky charm, was clean, and had nice little extras. We had an issue with bees getting in through windows and the hot water going out. The owner was quick and helpful in responding. There is plenty of room for everyone to have their own space and spread out. This was a great place for a large group. Note that only one bedroom is on the first floor in case you have individuals with mobility issues in your group.

Great place to stay if you have a large group

This property was exactly as described and accommodated our family perfectly! It was clean and well kept up. The first floor was such that we could all gather in the tv room or the dining room or as interests allowed move to a smaller library. Altho we didn’t use the patio much (we were there in late October) it was roomy enough to picnic outside if conditions allowed. The property well situated on the island so that we could all pursue individual or small group activities. Both the main entrance to Acadia and Bar Harbor center is a short drive away.. I would go back!!

50th Anniversary and Family Vacation

Very well loved house farm. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need for cooking. The oven wasn't working properly. We found a couple nails on the floors that tore our socks and the locks in the bathrooms didn’t lock. The location was great just 7 minutes from Bar Harbor and Acadia. Overall great house and experience. Definitely recommended for big families.

Would do it again

Everyone in our group of 14 enjoyed this house. Truly clean and very relaxing!! It was a good thing for grandkids to have the farmhouse feel and have the wooded area to play and pretend in. I think my favorite part was the fresh air feel-all the windows opened and we definitely did that either all day or in the evenings. The breeze came thru and made for great sleeping. Trish was SO pleasant to deal with. Anyone having doubts—don’t—Stay at Cider House. from Midwest group

Absolutely Wonderful! Perfect for our family

Such a magical place! Lots of space and charm for everyone. It was perfect for our family, we really enjoy places with lots of historical charm. My 80 year old mother said it was just like the farm house she grew up in; she felt right at home. The worn stoop with the door cut to accommodate it just one of the many charming pieces of this place. Lots of room for kids to roam around and play. Plenty of toys and games inside and out. We did run into a couple of glitches, and I just mention them to illustrate how quickly the host Trish responds. Beds were comfy, great ventilation and natural light, plenty of bathrooms and towels. Can’t say enough. Didn’t want to leave.

Bar Harbor

This VRBO was great for our family of 14. It is a large house with plenty of bedrooms and beds for all. The kitchen is large and seemed well stocked for everything we made. The large deck is great with a gas grill, relaxing places to sit and 2 picnic tables if you want eat outside. This is an older place so with that the floors are uneven with thresholds to watch out for. My aging parents did need to watch their step a bit. Other than that, I would highly recommend this place since the location cannot be beat. The turn in to Acadia is very close and it is a short 5-6 min drive in to Bar Harbor when we went in to town. The kids loved the surrounding lawn area to play baseball or laser tag. Trish was great to communicate with and we would definitely stay here again if back in town.

The property was very group friendly with multiple bedrooms, bathrooms, seating areas, etc. The kitchen was particularly group/family friendly with plenty of tableware, cook ware, seating. Nice outdoor picnic tables and umbrellas on the deck. We loved watching the wildlife (deer, turkeys, and chickens). The proximity to Acadia National Park was a huge plus. This is a charming old farm house with all the issues that implies. The outside is in need of some attention and door locks need some work. The host left a beautiful vase of flower and a note to welcome us.

Perfect house and location for our family vacation. Lots of room inside and out for us all to spread out. Everything we needed for the week was provided. We had no problems with anything in the house. We walked to the beach and restaurants a few times. Most of our time was spent in Acadia National Park, which was less than a mile away. All in all, we couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Magical Bar Harbor Farmhouse Ideal for Acadia Vacation! This magical, lovingly decorated and outfitted farmhouse with its curated collection of antique gardening tools and vintage furniture and decor welcomed our party of 13 (grandparents, parents, 20-somethings, and middle-school-aged children) with its custom-fit-for-us, comfortable 3 Kings, 3 Queens, 1 Full, and 3 twins as well as 4 well-stocked full bathrooms. The private location was quite near to Acadia National Park (technical climbs, Cadilac and Pemetic Mountains, Jordan Pond popovers, Sand Beach, a bald eagle, photogenic views), Bar Harbor (the land bridge, grocery store, Greek pizza place, Havana Restaurant, Thirsty Whale Tavern, and CJ’s Big Dipper ice cream/frozen yoghurt), and the Lobster Pound (hot or cold lobster rolls, lobster nachos, fish & chips, veggie tacos, grilled cheese, coleslaw) with its picnic tables and ice cream boat and nearby miniature golf. The living room welcomed home our exhausted early rising mountain climbers with deep, comfortable leather chairs, a table for jigsaw puzzles, and a reading nook. Our in-house Chef and Bartender served tempting concoctions, created in the bar nook and well-equipped kitchen, on three generously sized dining tables (also perfect for card games). Our scavenger hunt was to find 10 chickens and 10 pigs in the house’s decor. The smart XL washer/dryer allowed us to pack light for long air flights. We had perfect weather—no rain the entire week.

Quiet Retreat

Secluded hide away with an old farmhouse layout. Put the grandparents in the downstairs bedroom, open all the windows and turn on all the fans to take advantage of cooler mornings. No one gets their own bathroom so be kind and keep your stuff in your room, but plenty of hot water and funky layout! Available laundry room upstairs is a great advantage to this property. Hulls Cove beach is a 10 min walk downhill. Lake Wood Pond is a 5 min drive for a quiet swimming hole. Great big breakfast area and deck and large well-appointed kitchen for family gatherings. Bring a yard game for playing on the lawn!
