The house was terrific. Location was perfect, layout was great for 4 couples, plenty of room and privacy when needed. We had our dog with us and he loved the fenced yard and comfy deck. All bedrooms were fully equipped as was the kitchen. Highly recommend.
Spacious house with great views that was able to fit our three families. House is well stocked to allow for home-cooked meals and has plenty of seating and spaces for everyone to hang out and relax. Loved the water access and deck for sipping morning coffee with a view.
Beautiful view of the cove and lovely property. The kitchen and bathrooms are well stocked. Lots of living space. The beds are very comfortable. Quiet area. Easy 20 minute drive to Bar Harbor. The owner was very responsive to any questions we had. There were 8 of us and we all enjoyed ourselves very much. We had a fire in the fire pit outside several nights under the night sky.
Wonderful home, unique location, very private, great stay!

Thank you for your review. So glad to hear you had a wonderful stay! Please let us know if there's anything specific that could be improved. Thank you. Daria & Scott
Great property and location. Home is cozy, spacious, and well-appointed. The layout of the home was really great for our large family. Great Feng sho View is lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed that the backyard is partially fenced in; this allowed our kids to play without worry. The layout of the home is
House is just as described. Very well stocked kitchen including trash bags, foils, wraps, sharp knives etc. Comfy beds, fantastic views, enjoyed the deck and fire pit. We rented kayaks and traveled around the island. Not too far from Acadia and Bar Harbor. Overall excellent
Home is located in a picture perfect setting, close to the park and restaurants, well-equipped with everything we needed for our stay. Charming, clean, and all-around lovely property!
We enjoyed every second we spent at this house and the location was perfect. It was quiet yet still close to Ellsworth and Bar Harbor. Communication with the owners was excellent and we had everything that we needed for a week's stay.
The property was better than we expected! We enjoyed the beautiful morning sunrise each day and relaxing on the private beach. Close enough to explore local areas but secluded enough for a peaceful retreat. Home was fully stocked with tons of room for everyone. Would love to stay here again.
This house is incredible! The location is perfect to day trip, enjoy the park, Bar Harbor or just relax and take in the views from the backyard. Can’t wait to book again!
Beautiful views and access to the water. Water shoes required due to rocks and some glass though! Yard was fenced in for the pup and the house was perfectly set up for our family - we rented a kayak which we all used and the drive to Acadia was a short 15 minutes - we loved it!
This is my second time staying at the property and it was better than I had remembered. Great location in a quieter side of town, waterfront view, and close to hiking and Bar Harbor. The house is outfitted with everything you can imagine to make for a fantastic stay that feels like home!
We had amazing week in Maine, and loved our time at this home. Very comfortable house with all of the amenities, spectacular views, easy access to Bar Harbor and Acadia. We rented kayaks from a nearby business and enjoyed time on the water, and also enjoyed hiking and biking in the national park.
Just the loveliest setting for hanging out feeling the peace, enjoying the stars, relaxing after hiking all day, enjoying loved ones. Loved every minute.
Family vacation with 7adults and 2 dogs- we were all very comfortable! Lovely house. Beautiful view. Worth getting up for the sunrise! Navigating the TV was difficult even for a technical family. Great stay!
We enjoyed our stay very much. Loved the waterfront access. The house was plenty large enough for my family of six adults and one infant. It was also close to Acadia and Bar Harbor. We only had two downsides:the air conditioning in Maine is not what we are used to (it failed to really cool the house) and it would be great to have room darkening shades in all the bedrooms. When traveling with littles, it was difficult when she was awakened so early by the bright sunrise between 4 & 5am.

Hi Sharon,
Thank you for your thoughtful review and glad that your family enjoyed the home. Regarding the AC, we installed AC three years ago and that covers the first and second floor only. We will take a look at the unit to make sure it’s running efficiently. The way the home was built, we couldn’t get the AC up to the 3rd floor, and have been investigating alternates that would work. It’s not as easy as a fix as one might think, but we are aware. Regarding the shades, we do have darkening shades in 2 of the 4 bedrooms and can address for future. Your feedback is super helpful for us to understand what guests value and what’s important to them. Thank you again for taking the time to review and hope you will consider us again. Daria & Scott
This house was perfect for our family trip to Maine. Beautiful house and shoreline. We were close enough to Acadia and Bar Harbor to get in and out without issue. The stars on a clear night were phenomenal. We would come back in a heartbeat.
Beautiful house with large fenced in yard. Great for kids. Private beach was perfect. We swam every day. Acadia is minutes away. We saw three eagles flying over the property. Perfect Maine vacation!

About the host
Hosted by Daria Duda
Scott & Daria have been visiting the Bar Harbor area for many years and fell in the love with the area. They purchased Western Bay Shores in 2012, and another property a few miles away in 2014 and manage a 3rd property close by. They enjoy time here in the off-seasons as well. Back in Philadelphia, Scott is known for his award-winning beer, and helping new start-up breweries, while Daria works in marketing at a technology company.
Why they chose this property
When Scott & Daria bought Western Bay Shores, the former owners provided a comprehensive 'book' of everything about the house - ending their description with 'It's a special place.' This statement couldn't be more true … you'll find relaxation and enjoyment here at this home - it truly is a special place and we are happy that we can have our guests enjoy this slice of Maine as much as we do.
What makes this property unique
Moon rise over the water - truly awesome, especially during a full moon. And the sunrises can be spectacular.
