We enjoyed this sweet little home. Everything was there that we needed, and it was easy to communicate with the hosts. Would return when we are in the area again.
We really enjoyed our stay. The house was very clean and exactly as described. The host were very responsive, even suggesting places of interest. If you enjoy antiquing, the house is centrally located with lots of antiques stores within an hour and half drive in all directions.
From the minute we opened the door to this beautiful house we felt at home. By far the cleanest home we have ever stayed at. It was the perfect location for all activities we were doing. The back porch was so relaxing after a long travel day. We so enjoyed our conversation with the owner Scott on our check out day. We wished we could have stayed longer. Looking forward to another stay here next year!
We absolutely loved the “Sunrise Retreat”. The photos and descriptions failed to to justice to how wonderful the home is. Quaint, charming, peaceful escape. It felt like a rustic country spa getaway. Clean and well appointed with all conveniences. I savored my time on the back porch watching the sunrise over the mountains. Breathtaking and peaceful. Would stay here again and again.
Our second stay here did not disappoint. House was spotless and well appointed, surrounding acreage a fantastic area for the tweens to run around. Thank you again for the fantastic stay!
The house was beautifully updated, clean, and stocked with all of the essentials. The rental process was smooth and the property owners were friendly and helpful. Overall a great stay during our travels.
Sunrise Retreat was perfect! The cottage was immaculately clean, decorated beautifully and stocked with everything we needed. We loved the cows and horses out back and we had beautiful sunrises and sunsets. We were very close to downtown Hillsville and yet we felt like we were “out in the country”. We also got to meet the owners, Ed and Susan Naff and they were delightful to talk to. We plan to make our “ladies getaway” an annual trip and we hope to stay at this delightful cottage again.
The location of this property is very accommodating. We were able to be in town in only a few minutes and only 20 minutes out from a Walmart! The house was very nice and clean!

Thank you for staying at Sunrise Retreat. We appreciate your taking such good care of our property. We hope you will stay again when you are in the area.
Location was easy to find and easily accessible. Owners were very friendly and helpful. Beds were a bit too firm, but overall it was a great house. Would definitely recommend.
We have stayed here twice this year and I don’t know why anyone would stay in a hotel or anywhere else if this place is available. It is quiet, recently remodeled, and has everything you need for your family. The owners are wonderful and easy to work with. This place is now our go-to place when we head south for trips.

About the host
Hosted by Ed and Susan Naff
Hello, we are Ed and Susan Naff. Our son and daughter-in-law are assisting us in sharing our cottage with you. We purchased this house in 2020 and spent the majority of 2021 fully renovating this great place. Susan grew up next door and played in this house with her friend as a child. We moved into Susan's homeplace after Ed retired and have worked hard to keep it in a condition that would make her parents proud.
Susan's family is the Allen family, a name very familiar to Carroll County natives. Ed grew up in Floyd county. After meeting in Radford 56 years ago, we have built a great life together.
During the spring and summer a local farmer grazes cattle in the pasture behind the cottage.
