Mystic Forest Lodge is in the Waterfall development right off the low-traffic Cox Canyon Hwy (Hwy 130). Lakeview Drive (a well-maintained dirt road) curves up the mountainside into the cabin-sprinkled neighborhood, and Camino del Luna (spelled "...del Lun" by some navigation systems) curves up further off Lakeview Drive and brings you right to the Lodge.
□ Yale lock at main entry accessed through a code provided to you prior to your stay
□ Wi-Fi access available at main entry door and access to your Local Point of Contact through Wi-Fi calling should you encounter difficulties in entry
□ Spacious front & back parking (4WD/AWD required for back parking only)
□ Wheelchair access to the main living level from the back parking
Other things to note
Mystic Forest Lodge sits at well over 8,000 feet in altitude where the air is cool and dry; you won't require A/C. Ceiling fans throughout the house and in each bedroom, help ensure cool and comfortable summer temperatures. For the winter months, central heat, electric fireplaces and space heaters in every bedroom provide maximum flexibility for personal climate control.
During adverse weather, 4WD/AWD and/or tire chains or snow socks may be necessary to navigate Camino del Luna from Lakeview Drive.
Outdoor (only) video surveillance is active: parking areas, decks, wheelchair access ramp.

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Load and start the dishwasher
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights and lock the doors
Leave bed linens on the beds without removing; leave towels hanging where they are. This allows easy inspection for planning any special cleaning needs.
Tidy up the grill and put the grill cover back on. This may help prevent forest creatures from seeking out our grill.
Take all trash to the appropriate dumpster according to instructions provided 18 hours prior to checkout.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

About the host
Hosted by Michael & Emily Holt
Michael: My wife, Emily, and I love to travel, experience other cultures, meet new people, see new places and have adventures. We have 3 grown children, 2 of whom have college degrees in French and Linguistics while the other has a degree in Biology. My wife and I have studied French, Italian and a little German. We come from Texas, but my wife and I lived 2 years in northern Italy (Arona! Right on Lago Maggiore!) for my job, and then 2 more years in the east of England (Dereham, near Norwich). I am a recently retired Senior Staff Research Scientist, and my wife is a retired schoolteacher (5th-grade science). We own 2 short-term rental properties in Cloudcroft, New Mexico — this one that sleeps 15 guests (Mystic Forest Lodge) and one that sleeps 6 to 8 (Mystic Mountain Lodge). We love people and we love making people feel at home.
Emily: I am a retired science teacher living in Texas. I have an Etsy business that keeps me busy (etsy.com/shop/EmsItalianGems)! My husband, Michael, and I love to travel and stay in short-term rentals. Though we are both retired, we are kept quite busy hosting our wonderful guests at Mystic Forest Lodge and Mystic Mountain Lodge. We are really enjoying this new adventure!

Why they chose this property
We were looking for a cabin in the quaint little village of Cloudcroft when we discovered this chalet. We wanted a place of our own in the beauty of these mountains, as well as the access from the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex and to the Grand Canyon and beyond. This chalet was the perfect fit for our frequent escapes to Cloudcroft as well as trips through Cloudcroft to other places. And it made a perfect vacation rental to help support us in our adventures. Similar to our other mountain cabin in the area, Mystic Mountain Lodge, the majesty of the wildlife around the chalet, the mystique of the wind blowing through the forest, the intrigue of the clouds flying too low and getting caught in the trees, the beauty of the sunrise filtering through the woods on crisp mornings, and the awesomeness of the Milky Way stretching overhead at night with billions of stars gleaming in unmatched brightness against the darkest sky, inspires a sense of mystery, awe and fascination. This is why we had to name our new home Mystic Forest Lodge.
What makes this property unique
A somewhat remote, yet very accessible location very near to the village of Cloudcroft, Mystic Forest Lodge offers very spacious accommodations for up to 15 guests (remember, infants are precious guests, too), and plenty to do with family meals, pool, movies and games. When you are finished exploring Cloudcroft, White Sands National Moment, or the more than 80 trails through these beautiful mountains, and the night has just gotten so dark, you can come settle in for family night with movies and games, or just relax outside on two large decks with your loved ones.
