About this property
Oceanfront, Amazing Location! On Pristine White Sand Beach w/Coral Reef Offshore
Nestled in the dunes along a pristine white sand beach, SEA BISCUIT is a beachfront cottage that was crafted over 50 years ago by a local boatbuilding family. A true relic of the island's craftsmen, the wooden cottage provides a place to enjoy where sea, sky, sand, and coral reefs come together. See our website, SeaBiscuitBahamas.com , for helpful lists, maps, and more information about SEA BISCUIT, Man O War Cay, and the Abaco region of the Bahamas.
Whether you want to explore or relax, SEA BISCUIT is perfectly located for your Bahamas beach vacation. From sandcastle building to beach combing, and from kayaking to snorkeling among the coral reefs, there are endless options for those who love the sea. Relax with a book in a beachside hammock, enjoy your coffee on the deck at sunrise, or take a nighttime stroll in the sand and under the stars. Leave the windows open and fall asleep to the sound of the surf on the shore. If the sea is your refuge, you will be restored at SEA BISCUIT.
SEA BISCUIT BEACH HOUSE sleeps 6. There are 2 traditional bedrooms, both with king size beds, and there is an open loft bedroom with 3 twin beds. (The loft is only accessed by a ship's ladder, so it is not suitable for young children.) There is a full bathroom located between the main bedrooms. There is a second bathroom located in the downstairs workshop that can be also be used, and its small shower is perfect for rinsing off after beach or boating adventures. SEA BISCUIT has a simple, efficient kitchen which is connected to the dining area and family room. A second beach side dining option is located on the elevated back deck and offers dazzling views of the sky, sea and shore. The family room has a smart TV which you can use to stream your favorite show (Netflix, Hulu, etc.) or watch one of your favorites from the house DVD collection. There are games in the cupboards for family game night, and a grill out back for cooking your catch of the day. 2 Sea Kayaks are available at the house for guests to use. Air conditioning, high speed internet, and large capacity washer and dryer are available for guests. Beach toys, beach chairs, umbrellas and some snorkel gear are also included. A private mooring buoy in Eastern Harbour can be used by guests, as well as the Community Docks (first come first serve), and if needed, additional dock space may be available to rent (from others).
Currently, there is a 10% discount for monthly stays.
Extended family groups may want to consider renting "Beach Happy" which is located on the adjacent property (to the west). "Beach Happy" sleeps 12 and is a beautiful home with wrap around porches, 4 bedrooms, solar power, and a gourmet kitchen.
Sea Biscuit and Beach Happy are located on Man O War Cay, Abaco Bahamas. Man O War was settled by British Loyalists who left the American colonies after the U.S. Revolutionary War, and also the Eleutheran Adventurers who sought religious freedom and settled in the Bahamas during the 1600's. The European settlers were preceded by the Bahamian Lucayans who, archelogical evidence indicates, inhabited the Abacos as early as 700 AD. The earliest residents farmed and fished; and later occupants did the same and some were wreckers who salvaged vessels that were shipwrecked on the reefs. In the 1800's the island became well known for its boatbuilding and the renown Albury Brother's boats are still built on the island today. During your stay, you can visit the Albury's Sail Shop, Joe's Studio, and the Man O War Heritage Museum and Coffee Shop. The Man O War Marina Village is open for business with boat fuel and gift shop and a restaurant coming soon. Visitors can rent a golf cart to explore the island, or a boat to visit other islands and beaches. The Low Place is ideal for snorkeling and swimming, Fowl Cays National Park has amazing reefs for offshore diving and snorkeling, and Tahiti Beach is highly recommended for if you want to experience an amazing cast-away tropical sand bar paradise. Also recommended: climb the Hope Town lighthouse (built in 1862) and visit the Wyannie Malone Historical Museum. Take your boat to Firefly Sunset Resort and Abaco Inn on Elbow Key for great food, beautiful views, and a fun, island ambiance.
Information and maps for favorite things to do in and around Man O War are available for guests. Please let us know if you would like more information about travel logistics, boat rental recommendations, and Sea Biscuit amenities.
If you are interested in renting a boat, we highly recommend you do so as soon as possible upon making your reservation since boat rental demand often surpasses supply. (We recommend Sojer Cart Rental.) Demand for rental golf carts can also exceed supply, so we advise guests to reserve a cart early in order to ensure availability.

About the host
Hosted by Sandy Cooper

The Cooper family loves Man O War and is super excited to have a home on one of its most beautiful beaches. We are happy to share the location and our comfortable beachfront cottage with other families. We hope that they will make their own lifelong memories and vacation traditions in this special place as we have. About the Coopers: Charlie works for United Airlines and flies the 777 internationally; Mike works for the State of Florida as a forester helping to restore and manage 2 large preserves in South Florida; Emily works for the American Heart Association educating youth for healthy outcomes; Tucker (who is almost 2) is learning to swim and has 5 chickens; Zac is a senior at The University of Florida and is a Plant Science major with interest in sustainable agriculture; Jesse is a second year law student at University of Richmond with an interest in Environmental Law; and Sandy lends support services to the rest of the family and helps manage 2 vacation rentals: Sea Biscuit on Man O War and Gumbo Limbo on North Captiva Island in Florida. (We formerly owned, operated and built the North Captiva vacation property Sea Urchins Beach House.)
Why they chose this property
Our 3 children grew up with yearly vacations on Man O War so the island is a big part of our family story. We love the beautiful beaches of Man O War, the amazingly clear water, the coral reefs offshore and the abundance of sea creatures, the friendly locals whose families have lived on the island for generations, the uncrowded beaches (more often than not, you will have the beach all to yourself!), and the general feelings of peace and security we experience on the island. We love having Sea Biscuit as our home base, and when we venture to other Abaco islands for outings and adventures, we are always grateful to return at the end of the day to Man O War.
Sea Biscuit Beach House is special because it is nestled in the dunes at the edge of the sea and it was crafted over 50 years ago by descendants of island shipbuilders (William Albury and his son Bill) . The cottage has withstood numerous storms including devastating Hurricane Dorian. It’s endurance is a testimony to the fine shipbuilders’ craft and the protection offered by the dune and its vegetation.
The Coopers are only the third family to own the cottage and it is now offered for the first time as a vacation rental. Having built and managed other vacation properties (Sea Urchins on North Captiva Island, Florida) we know that there are many benefits to having other families as guests. It is our hope that your family will make many lifelong memories at Sea Biscuit and on Man O War. It is our wish that you will be restored at this special cottage by the sea.
A portion of each rental is donated to “Friends of the Environment “ who works to preserve Abaco’s unique environment, and the fund to refurbish the historic Man O War Public Library.
