The cabin is exactly as pictured, fully loaded with all amenities you would need, and in a beautiful location. The views are incredible! It’s perfect for kids with tons of games in the basement. Every detail is thought out and our stay was so comfortable. I would definitely stay here again if coming back to the area.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Lazy River house! It was conveniently located to the cute shops and restaurants in downtown Luray. The home itself immaculately maintained and is outfitted with anything you may need during your stay. The rooms were clean, spacious, and comfortable. The basement was a fun spot to hang out, and the views from all around the home are spectacular. While it unfortunately rained throughout our stay, we had plenty of room to play games, watch movies, and it was such a cozy and welcoming spot to spend a long weekend, even if was raining. The hosts are beyond welcoming, generous, and responsive. My daughter left a piece of luggage behind and the hosts did not hesitate to find a way to ship it back to her, even on a holiday! Jennie truly cares about her guests. I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to explore Luray!
This cabin had everything we needed! Lots of water toys for the river, grills for dinner, games for evening! The views of the river and mountains and wildlife were so peaceful. We enjoyed lots of coffee and drinks on the deck and the front porch. Would love to stay here again!
The place was great, the view was fantastic. Our family had a great time experiencing the river - fishing, kayaking, swimming. Short drive to charming downtown Luray.
Furnishings comfortable. Kitchen with everything needed. Nice patio furniture & comfortable porch. Clean. Proximity to the river and access. Would definitely book again.
We had an amazing stay at the property. Very peaceful and relaxing. Views were amazing. Hosts were very helpful and quick to respond to any questions we had. We will definitely look forward to staying there in the future.

Thank you Derrick and guests for being 5 star! I was astonished at the level of cleanliness the house was left. I appreciate how well you cared for my home during your stay. You are welcome back in the future!!! Fabulous guests😀❤️
We were attending a wedding in the area and needed accommodations nearby. Jennie was very helpful providing the information needed to make our decision. The house and surrounding area was beautiful.
Jennie is as lightning quick with her responses to questions, and super thoughtful in all aspects- communications, proving little s’mores kits as a treat, having all the toys needed for fun on the river. By far our best VRBO experience… so pleased to have spent an extended vacation in their home
The house is in a great location. Just secluded enough to enjoy the beautiful nature but only 15min from Luray for dining and things to do. The house was beautiful, clean, and welcoming. The teenagers loved the game room in the basement and the deck off the master bedroom had amazing views! The hosts were so easy to communicate with and very responsive! Lots of nice touches like s’mores kits, drink tickets for local distillery and fresh flowers! We will definitely be back!
Everything was clean and well thought out. Kitchen was beautifully stocked. The house and yard were peaceful and lovely. Lots of activities inside and out to keep us happy. A family of deer ate right off the deck every morning and evening. The owners were kind and responsive and we would definitely recommend!
Fun Fun Fun. Lots to do rain or shine!! Extra bonus was the ability to drive down (4 wd) to the river otherwise, its a good workout walking back up. Only request would be directions for washer/dryer use. The price is right on this property - it's a bargain!
This house is exceptionally well-stocked and furnished. The kitchen has everything you need to cook for a large group. It has plenty of beds, folding lawn chairs and a basement loaded with games in case you get a rainy day. Everything is in great working order. Would highly recommend this to a group of adults or families looking for a fun weekend in the outdoors.
We brought our 7 kids to the Luray area for a long weekend "unplugged". Rust Hook was SO welcoming. Plenty of space for our big family. The coffee & snacks & linens were so thoughtful. The house is very clean & well maintained. Beds are comfy. The views are stunning. Our favorite part was having canoes, kayaks & life vests available for all of us to explore the Shenandoah River together!! A close second was the smore kits & provided firewood. As the planner of our family, I truly appreciated so many details covered so I was able to enjoy our time unwinding. We had a few questions during our stay and Jennie was so friendly & quick to respond. I highly recommend this location for anyone looking for a comfy "home base" while exploring Shenandoah!
Wonderful house and location. Beautiful views on all sides. We had 9 people and everyone was comfortable and there was plenty of room to be together as well as separately and based on age. 2 large decks and a large porch provide lots of great space and views. The teenagers were very happy to have a basement full of entertainment and games for their age. The beds and the accommodations were very comfortable. There are a lot of windows and natural light. Hardwood floors is a big plus. The kitchen was very well stocked. It also has two fire pits with enough Adirondack style chairs and comfortable folding chairs. The inner tubes, inflatable tubes, and kayaks/canoes was a huge plus with great area by the river. Yes, there is a steep hill for going back up from the river, but a 4-wheel car makes it easy. We had Subaru outback and Toyota Highlander, but most people can go up the hill with a little bit of time. The river was absolutely amazing to float, swim, kayak in. And then there is Luray town and caverns, hiking trails, mountains, breweries, and many other activities.
Property was nice, bit of walk to river, for little ones. Home was clean, little dated, but it is a river house. Kitchen was well supplied with utensils! The tubes provided did not have netting, thus do not work for smaller kids, they fall out. Kayak was not there, so used canoes, one took on water, useable, not comfortable. All in all nice, but cost to stay, proximity to river, and aged interior design, we would not come back. Do think perfect for family with older children, as basement is well equipped with games we did not utilize, and would make for a fun party room.

Thank you for your feedback. We take pride in keeping our listing up-to-date to show accurate pIctures of our home’s decor, amenities and to show the homes placement on mountain. The listing describes mountain views with river frontage and mentions a primitive access road to use for those who may need to use their AWD vehicle. Our home sits on 3 acres of land and is perched up top the mountain with river frontage down below. It’s the best of both worlds. We do have the regular tubes for floating the river and 2 canoes. A replacement Kayak was ordered. We were unaware of any issues with one of the canoes taking on water and is a first of hearing of the problem. We will definitely look into it.
This was our first multi family vacation. 3 generations. My husband had wanted to fish. Due to recent back issues that are very severe he was unable to navigate to the waters edge. It was a very steep access road and our car was not able to drive down it. He never was able to get down their. We are both in our 60’s. I did make it down myself but couldn’t return again. My Grandkids and Daughter/Son in law were able to enjoy the fishing, kayaking and paddle boarding. The game room downstairs was a real hit as well. I enjoyed feeding the birds, sitting on the porch, and watching for deer. The only complaint I have was the grass was so high. Both property’s on either side were mowed but it appeared ours had not. It rained a few days while we stayed and each time I took the dog out I got my feet soaked in high grass. All and all we had a great family time. I was grateful I could bring my 16 1/2 year old Dachaund for this trip as well. Jenni and Hap were very helpful and very prompt with returning all messages. This was our first VRBO vacation. It won’t be our last.
My wife and 3 kids (12,16,18) had a fantastic stay!
Check-in - Couldn't have been any easier.
Cleanliness - Everything perfectly clean!
House - One floor with 3 bedrooms and plenty of room for the 5 of us. Enjoyed movie nights in the living room. Very comfortable couches and recliners. Nice TV, DVD player, and access to streaming platforms. Game room in the basement was lots of fun! Enjoyed playing pool, shuffle board, and foosball. Bedrooms clean and spacious, each with its own TV as well.
Views - Unbelievable views no matter what way you looked! We loved sitting on the front porch in the morning having our coffee/tea and looking out over the mountains. Also a fantastic view from the deck off of the main bedroom.
Amenities - We've stayed at multiple lake/river houses and this had by far the most amenities. I won't list everything, just take a look at at the description. Again, just had EVERYTHING!!
Location - Private neighborhood that was VERY quiet.
Neighbors were SO nice! Told them we were renting a house there and they told us some paths to walk for neighborhood use only. Very close to Skyline Drive and Luray Caverns.
Fishing - Good fishing from the dock, I found better fishing taking the canoe down river a bit to the shallow area. Live Bait shop about 15 minutes away.
As the description says,it's a downhill walk to the river and a tiring walk back up. Either bring an AWD/4WD vehicle or understand that you need to be physically able to walk back up
This property is absolutely beautiful. You can get right in the river from the property and tube down quite a ways. Teens had a blast in the game room and there are 3 bathrooms, which is AMAZING!
We arrived 30 min early and the place was just as I expected The view was amazing.
I would recommend this property to anyone who likes the peace and quiet of the outdoors ver relaxing atmosphere the property owner was very prompt when responding to us overall awesome experience 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🌺🦋🦋🦋
This house was the perfect spot for a short family vacation! House was comfortable, clean, and had an extremely well stocked kitchen. We enjoyed taking the canoe out on the river, and seeing deer and bunnies from the house. The game room was a great bonus as well, offering screen free indoor fun when it rained. A perfect stay all around, thank you!
Loved our stay. House was beautiful. Had all we needed and more. Nice lazy river access. Fish were biting too..
