A nice location near many parks and lake beaches. Modern decor, appliances and fixtures. The driveway REALLY is NOT hospitable. The kitchen is missing things like measuring tools/serving spoons/serving bowls. A safety note: the stairs both going from the kitchen to the bedrooms and to the sunken dining area are not spaced proportionally and could be a hazard for some.

The property was lovely. There were extra towels and very well stocked kitchen supplies. My only complaint was the overwhelming odor after someone used the fireplace. I wish there was something to neutralize the smokey odor. Also it would be nice to have a tv in the bedrooms. At least a tv in the master bedroom. I would stay here again.

Great stay

We enjoyed our stay however, the listing states all the beds are king sized and only 2 are. The other 2 are queen. Also (note for host) we forgot a pair of sunglasses and would like to have them mailed back if they are found, could you contact me if possible.

Wonderful place to stay!

This was a great place… and we use VRBO often! The owners provided a lot of little things that typically were overlooked, like creamer, coffee, soap, TP, and so much more. The house had a unique set up with three bedrooms up stairs and the master on the ground floor. It was perfectly clean and nicely appointed. Thank you for a great stay! We will be back!

Beautiful accommodations for large family/ friends but needs a few more improvements

Overall we had a nice stay but there are a few things that future guests should be aware of and some improvements I feel are needed to make the stay more comfortable. Pros: The house was very clean. Beds are very comfortable!! Rooms are a good size and the living room had a cozy fireplace with blankets for many to enjoy. Updates to the kitchen and bathrooms were modern and nice. Kitchen has many pots and pans and cooking utensils stocked and there is a K cup coffee maker and a regular one available. Cons: The driveway needs paved. The rocks/thick gravel were difficult to navigate and for us and for our family when we had to drive up. We ordered pizza one night and met the guy at the bottom of the hill to spare him from driving up. There are no towel racks in the main bathroom. We had 5 people using that bathroom and there no where to hang their towels and to know who had which towel. Plenty of wall room to install some. Lastly, the downstairs bedroom was way colder than the rest of the house by about 10 degrees. I sugguest a space heater for downstairs to account for the temperature difference so the rest of the house isn't sweating.

Master bedroom bathroom door was locked and had to use bathroom downstairs. Kitchen cabinets were zip tied. No amenities like sample size toiletries. No toilet paper or individual laundry detergent. These items are small but make the tenant feel like the owners care. The gravel driveway is scary. A bedroom as soon as you walk into the house is insane. And the stench coming from the laundry room/bathroom area was horrible. Needs work.

This is a nice location. I do not feel that the house layout is accurately explained. The front door opens to a bedroom the only one with a bathroom in it. The second bathroom is on a lower level and the secondary bedrooms are in the top level. My mother was supposed to come with us but due to health issues was unable. If she had come the lack of a bathroom on the top level with the 3 bedrooms would have a been a horrible issue. Too many stairs for elderly. Also there are no towel hooks in the bathrooms and the main bathroom while beautiful needs a shower curtain or glass doors as the water just comes out onto the floor. We appreciated the coffee in the kitchen and it is well appointed for cooking ahd entertaining. For my husband and I alone it was sufficient but would have been difficult in a larger group or with elderly and young children.

Cons: lack of closet space, a hook or too would have been great in all bedrooms. Lamps would have been nice, lack of toilet paper, not enough towels. Pros: very comfortable, beds great, (2 kings and 2 queens) nice modern appliances and top notch. Peaceful setting with generous outdoor seating.

If you are looking for a home that will fit a group of 8, look no further. This home was just the right size for our group of six adults and two children (9 yr olds). Two of the rooms had king beds and the other two were queen beds. Couches were really comfortable and cozy. The washer and dryer was a life saver! We came to New York to visit a Patterson, Wallkill, and Warwick for some tours. Overall, I highly recommend this place.

Perfect spot for a get together with friends... kitchen, dining room and living room all connected so you're always together and not missing out on the fun. Comfy couches and plenty of space for large board games.

This is a very nice home with a well equipped kitchen. The living room and dining areas are spacious. We could have used more closet space but it wasn’t that much of an issue. The driveway could use grading but had ample parking.

Beautiful house!

Beautiful house! Greatly enjoyed our stay! Lovely interior decor. Top of the line appliances. Have your morning coffee outside (weather permitting). Super comfortable furniture and beds. Lots of amenities. Corrections/additions to listing: Lists four king sized beds, but actually there are two king and two queen sized beds. Bedding and towels are both provided. But truly impossible to make it up this driveway without AWD or 4WD! Ruts were beginning to develop under the gravel on the way up, and the gravel is quite thick up where you park your vehicle. Have already recommended this listing to others, but only if they have 4WD or AWD. If the driveway were paved, there would be no drawbacks at all!!!

Home was well maintained and had all we needed for a very comfortable stay. Driveway was gravel and difficult to manage even with 4WD vehicles.

Great Location!

We were very happy with this VRBO. There is no hangers for your towels. That is the only negative thing about this place. The beds are very comfortable! And location was perfect for our group.

Just right

The house was just as pictured. Past reviews were helpful. Knowing about the driveway in advance was helpful. It is an odd floorplan, but it worked out fine for us. The kitchen is lovely and had everything we needed. We were in the area for the Stormville antique show. The house is in a great location, central to many great attractions.

Hillside retreat

All of us enjoyed our stay here. Kids loved roaming the house, adults appreciated comfy seating and very usefull and appealing kitchen. All rooms are plenty big. Yard is amazing this time of year (July) with loads of hydrangea. While there are steps up to the house, they are generously wide making it an easy climb. Due to high temps we only used the outdoor patio once, but there is plenty of room there. Most of the driveway is on a slope, but large enough for several vehicles and for turning around. And although it is steep our fully loaded front drive minivan made it up. Traction control did help. We were coming up the road, and went slow and swung wide to make the turn into the drive. We would definitely stay here again. The host was very responsive with minor problem we had with WIFI.

The stay

The house is quite interesting in layout. We had fun. The appliances are top notch. The beds were comfortable. And now for the infamous Driveway and yard. The driveway and no yard makes being outside worth going to a park. Absolutely no way to enjoy the outside without proper shoes. The drive way for husbands is nothing but fun. However, everyone else will feel like they are taking driving 101; now what is low gear, and do I turn the wheel left or right when parking on a steep slope. All kidding aside, the driveway is vertical and gravel. I thought I saw Sisyphus. Have fun. It’s worth it.

Location, location Location

This house has an ideal location to see lots of local sites of interest in the Hyde Park and Poughkeepsie area. Easy trip from there to West Point, Hyde Park and the Culinary Institute from the location, and great restaurant, Tiramasu, is very close. The house is immaculate! The beds were very comfortable, linens were provided, the bathrooms were spacious and the five of us had plenty of room for our toiletries. The house has steps to its multiple levels for all essential rooms, not accessible. We only cooked breakfast in the house, but there were sufficient pans, toaster, and microwave available. It would help if there were directions provided for using the appliances, thermostat, and tv, all appliances are very high end and instructions would help in using the touchpads. It would be great to have checking out instructions I posted somewhere in the kitchen. You will need a four wheel drive vehicle to make it up the very steep driveway, it took us several tries even with it. I have rented many VRBO homes, this is a very nice one, we were not disappointed. I thank our hosts for working with us during our stay, it was a wonderful trip for us.

Uphill battle

It's a very nice place but as others have noted, the driveway is not for the faint of heart. Wet, slick leaves hampered the drive uphill unless you have AWD, which we do not. Drip coffeemaker was moldy because grounds hadn't been removed. Surprised there was no grill. And the property may encompass four acres but they are not user friendly acres. Plenty to do in the area, however, and the place is pretty and comfortable.
