Do not rent from this host!
Even after reading the questionable reviews, we decided to take a chance on this property. Shame on us! We did chuckle about a couple things; the grill didn't work so Cheryl left us a smoker with propane to use - but it used wood not propane; the bed was smaller than listed and not very comfortable, but we asked for rustic, so we didn't complain; the air freshener was too strong for such a small area, we just unplugged it. It was all part of the rustic experience. The next morning when we couldn’t use the stove to make coffee or breakfast it became a problem. We contacted Cheryl who sighed heavily and told us we needed to use the clicker to light the stove. After going out for breakfast and spending time at the lake, we were ready for a shower and dinner but there was no hot water. We were no longer amused! We contacted Cheryl again (she was 2 hrs away and not on site) and left a day early. Cheryl texted me 24 hours later to accuse us of turning off the propane to the cottage, trying to 'pull something on her' and she had to pay for a weekend call to the electrician. I became insulted and angry and asked for a refund. I worked via VRBO who tried to contact Cheryl on several occasions. She completely ghosted both VRBO and me. We have used VRBO for several years and never had any trouble with any property or owner and had good reviews about us. I was completely frustrated and unhappy with this host and disappointed in our weekend outing.

As advertised and perfect for me.
Small, rustic cabin with close access to lake. Perfect for a fishing/hunting weekend. I actually took the trip for a creepy solo getaway specifically for Friday the 13th weekend and I loved it. Host was awesome and always responded to my messages and went out of her way to make the stay even more fun and spooky for me. Would definitely stay again but definitely not for everyone, as it is very rustic and best suited for smaller groups or solo.

Beautiful property, needs TLC
Booked even though had mixed reviews, we understood was still in renovation process, even so grounds could be much better maintained. Beautiful scenery- but toppled lawn chairs, buckets, and rakes strewn about on shore line very distracting. Even if things were put in organized piles, would be more tolerable. The Owner was next door and very helpful with internet access and assisting with vehicle problem. The cabin was comfy and well equipped, with picturesque views from the windows. Weather did not allow use of some of best property features-firepits-canoeing and fishing.

Solid stay
Good place to stay. The cabin could use some more curtains as the location is around people

Amazing stay!!
This was the perfect get away. Home was perfectly clean. Everything and I mean everything was provided. Even a fire pit lighter. Our two pooches loved the lake and the property. Quiet and peaceful with wonderful neighbors. We will be back. The lake is literally a block away. I am booking my next stay for November. Thank you for sharing your property with us!

Hi! Love the up north vacation living so much I moved up 5 years ago to enjoy it full time. I'm in the home next door, I respect your privacy, I do have time for a quick chat, a few questions, help get the bonfire going. Archery and kayak instructor as well, most of the weekend I'll be at my job at the resort. Kayaking, skiing, and campfires are just the best and so many opportunities plus hiking, biking, atv'g, festivals, golf and more. Glad to have you up to enjoy the lake & woods as well!

Why they chose this property

Serene lake has a scattering of log homes and cabins. You'll wake to songbirds, relax by the lake and sleep after the sunsets and bonfire.

What makes this property unique

Private cabin has vintage charm and a whole acre of open areas and mature woods.
