The Wild Winds is a winter wonderland! Stay in this rustic, cozy log home at the Wild Winds that we call the “Junior” cabin (built in the 1950’s). Snowmobile trails start at the top of our driveway. Cross-country ski on our 70 acres of private trails, or visit groomed county trails only a couple of miles away. Ski downhill courses such as Treetops or Boyne Mountain, each only about half an hour away. Or simply enjoy the pristine beauty of our acres of pine forest in their winter frosting!
There is room to park a trailer here.
“Junior’ cabin has 2 all-season bedrooms and a 3-season back bedroom and sleeps 7-11, and it has a fireplace!
Our other vacation cabin is called “Honeymoon” (VRBO 298533) The log homes are right on Wequas Lake, and our beautiful private lake is just a short walk into the woods.
Both homes come equipped with satellite TV, washer, dryer, full kitchen and 1 bath. FREE Hi-SPEED INTERNET. The price is the same for either log home. In July and August we rent by the week (Saturday to Saturday) There is $100 cleaning fee, and well-behaved dogs are permitted for an additional fee.
There are a total of four homes at the Wild Winds; the Lodge (where my niece lives), the Dorm (my house) and two vacation log homes.
Thinking ahead to other seasons?
The Wild Winds is a nature lover’s paradise all year round. We offer many trails for hiking and/or biking. Enjoy fishing, boating and relaxing on the lake and beach, just steps from your rustic cabin. Or spend time at our private pond (actually a small lake) nestled in the woods, for swimming and canoeing. Or for a little more excitement the Wild Winds is only 7-8 Miles from world class golfing, shopping, restaurants and other sporting lakes. If you like to take short day trips you could go to Petoskey to see beautiful Lake Michigan, or spend your day at Mackinac Island.

We stayed there for 2 nights. The back room had many mini holes in the ceiling. The room was cold;Kids found spiders on bed; mice poop in the drawers; kitchen was so unorganized. There were limited areas for dogs going out potty.

The mouse poop was my fault. I eradicated all the mice before guests arrived, but I forgot to check one cupboard for droppings. I am sorry that put a damper on your visit.
Really loved this get away. Great, right on the lake with an in house fireplace. It was perfect for the wife and our dog.

I'm sorry I had to leave early to visit my brother in the hospital, so I was not there to tell you where the life jackets are kept or help you with the fireplace. But I'm glad you had a nice stay otherwise.
Fishing was decent given the weather we had(very windy). Great vibes all around, cabin was nice and spacious, Rokkos brother TJ was a great guy and a big help with any questions.
Perfect stay at a great cabin. Nights were quiet and peaceful. Lake view off the back porch was relaxing. Rocco and TJ were perfect hosts Look forward to our next stay.
Went snowmobiling for a long weekend. Hosts were great people to deal with. Super close access to trails. If you love the woodsy, outdoors - you'll love this.
Overall really good experience!
Our stay was both really peaceful and invigorating to be immersed in so much nature. I loved the hiking trails on the property and rowing on the lake. The local area has a lot of outdoor activities to offer and Rokko's cabin was a great place to stay.

A peaceful spot in nature--that's what the Wild Winds has to offer! Come back soon!
Great location. We spent a fun week at this lakeside cabin. We enjoyed the water, the fishing, and the trails. The owner and his family were very nice. The cabin did have a lot of spiders, which our girls didn't like.
I am glad you had a peaceful getaway! (The roof leaks have been located and repaired!)

Owners greeted us on arrival, very friendly people
We stayed over the New Year. Beautiful place to stay. Great view of the lake. The owner gave us very easy directions to follow to get there. Very quiet and cozy place to stay. Not to mention New Year's Eve it snowed maybe over 5 inches which was amazing.

The "Wild Winds" is a beautiful place in the winter, serene and pristine. Some days it feels like you're in a giant snow globe. You can indulge in snow sports, like skiing or snowmobiling, or just sit around the fireplace.
But don't forget spring, summer or fall...
Hope you come back soon!
Even though it rained pretty much my entire stay, I still had a great time. It was very relaxing and peaceful.

Comfy place to relax
We enjoyed relaxing in front of a fire for the weekend, with a few walks on the property. The cabin had all of the basic necessities, and a lot of firewood! Also, beautiful lake view.

I enjoyed having your family visit; come back soon. I also appreciate your ideas on updates!
This worked well for us. We came up north for a skiing weekend, and Rokko's place worked well. Gaylord was close enough to run in for meals, and the cabin was a good fit for what we wanted.

This was a great fit: we are close to several ski resorts, as well as cross-country ski venues, and we are only minutes from the town of Gaylord, yet tucked into a beautiful, quiet spot in the woods!
