Guests frequently comment about how exceptionally clean and well-maintained the home is, and this is a result of the host’s investment in and appreciation of the home.

The interior of the home is painted in a light and bright, modern white, not reflected in all of the photos. A mosaic tile backsplash has been added to the kitchen. On-site entertainment/relaxation opportunities include: outdoor fire pit, corn hole boards, board games for all ages, children’s toys, family friendly VCR tapes, family friendly DVDs, access to TV programming on smart TVs, two decks with comfortable seating, outdoor grilling on Weber grill, two creeks, and frisbee golf goal.
Deer Trail Lodge is located at 4330 elevation, where cool temps are guaranteed throughout the day in the summer, with temperatures averaging in the 70°s (rarely gets to 80°) and snowfall is welcomed in the winter. In the fall, guests enjoy a blanket of fall color across the local mountain range in October or early November. While you relax at the fire pit for a night of clear sky star viewing and s'mores, your furry friend can enjoy fetching a ball in the flat, grassed yard.

PET RESTRICTIONS: Guests can bring two small dogs under 25 lbs. each or one medium sized dog under 50 lbs. WITH NO pet fee! Mountain trip
We arrive late at night, so it was a little bit difficult to find the property but directions were very good. Property was very nice with streams on each side which was very delightful. Deer came by one day. We are big fans of the surrounding area so this was a chance to spend a few days there. Thanks for the good experience.

Everything you need - and more!
What a wonderful home! This is not just a rental house, but truly a home. Lora has this place set-up for comfort and ease, making the vacation all the more special. And her communication with me ahead of and during the trip was fantastic. It’s stocked with everything you need, they’ve labeled everything and have instructions on how to find and use so many things around the house. Not to mention, even all that you need for the furry friends! The house is tucked back into Beech on a dirt road so it’s a bit remote but it has the BEST backyard, especially for kids and dogs! Mountain homes don’t usually come with this luxury, but it made the trip - awesome fire pit, landscaping and creeks in either side of the property. Truly a wonderful rental experience!

Perfect in every way
To begin with, this cabin is exactly as pictured, however, pictures do not convey the feeling of welcome when you walk thru the door. From the updated furnishings, the well stocked kitchen, baths and bedrooms, to the local artisan artwork and crafts that are carefully placed throughout, not one detail has been overlooked for the comfort and enjoyment of the guests. Even the dog had everything he needed and more!! The view of wildlife from the elevated deck was amazing. We were fortunate to see a large bear amble down the road in the middle of the day in complete safety We also had visits from many deer, turkeys and groundhogs. We enjoyed a fire in the big backyard fire pit area in comfortable Adirondack chairs. Our group of friends enjoyed sitting on the porch listening to the creek so much we only left for a few hours each day to visit Beech Mountain’s restaurants and shops, Coffey Lake Park, Banner Elk and the Bark Park which were all close by. From the moment we received the reservation confirmation to the day of departure, the owner was always available to answer every question or concern we had. She provided information we didn’t know we needed, but it turned out to be valuable in navigating our way to the cabin and throughout the Beech Mountain and Banner Elk areas. We highly recommend this cabin and are all ready planning a return visit for sometime this Fall! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us, Lora!

About the host

Hosted by Lora Williams

Host profile image
Our family has been traveling with VRBO since 1995, but we have been renting private vacation homes as early as our honeymoon in May of 1988. Since that time we have learned what makes a vacation home "return worthy", and we have tried to apply this experience to launching Deer Trail Lodge as a five-star worthy vacation home experience. We enjoy travel to Beech Mountain regularly, and during our vacations there we ensure that the home is ready to deliver a five-star guest experience. We have created a detailed area travel guide that guests are given access to after booking.

As a result of policy changes with VRBO related to cancellations, we are now requiring contact with prospective guests prior to booking to confirm that there is 100% compatibility between the property and the guest needs. We expect that this will enhance the travel experience with our property.

Why they chose this property

We choose Deer Trail Lodge for the uniqueness of Beech Mountain, with abundance of local attractions such as Tweetsie Railroad, Grandfather Mountain, The Blowing Rock, The Land of Oz, Beech Mountain Resort for mountain biking and skiing, The Highland Games, and Moses Cone. We graduated from ASU in 1989, and our family has has enjoyed this area of North Carolina for years. Living only four hours from Beech Mountain, we are close enough to allow for frequent trips to Beech Mountain. We enjoy the mountains year-round!

What makes this property unique

Beech Mountain, nestled in the Pisgah National Forest, is a remarkable place to visit as North Carolina's highest incorporated town. Our property is visited daily be a literal "trail of deer' and even an occasional bear! For us, the home provides a serene and peaceful place to exit the hustle and bustle of the world.
