We had a wonderful stay at this property. Did not know that 2 of the listed beds would be trundle beds. Otherwise property listing was accurate and host was very responsive when we needed assist making the place cooler. Plenty of space for everyone and had mostly needed amenities.
We had a great stay! We were looking for a place for several family members to stay overnight, and a place with enough space for a somewhat larger group to gather for a college graduation party. This place was perfect for both! Everyone was impressed with the space, and kept asking us how we found such a gem. It's convenient to Winona and La Crosse. Our host was responsive to questions and communicated well. Definitely recommend!
We absolutely enjoyed our stay. The vrbo was clean, safe, and cozy! All the amenities were available! Our host responded immediately with kindness and suggestions for restaurants nearby when i asked.
Clean, cute and comfortable! Wouldn’t recommend for elderly only because of all the steps, could have more knives in kitchen (only 3 and we had 8 adults) and water pressure in bathrooms were low but not that we had to have someone come out to fix. It was an easy drive from La Crosse, owners were quick to respond and friendly!
What a fantastic place to stay a few days. The owners obviously have put a lot of thought and care into this building. It is fun, kinda fancy, and a truly enjoyable place to stay. The location is convenient to both Winona and La Crosse, but out of the way enough for a quiet, relaxing stay. Great game room. You can be awed by the fresh, bright and stylish decor but it is the little details that amaze. The perfect getaway.
Easy communication and access from the major highways for people gathering from ND, SD, MN, and WI. Appliances and fixtures were modern within the rustic, re-modeled barn. Heating was perfect on cold days.
The only hitch was weather/plumbing related as the 2nd bathroom toilet was not useable due to frozen pipes. Which meant the other sinks were also running with very little water pressure (so as to not freeze pipes). Made it a bit difficult for the gathering, though we still had great pressure for showers. I'm sure that kink will get worked out for future occupants.
I would absolutely stay here again after verifying that 2 bathrooms were 100% useable.
Plenty of space for our large group. This was our 3rd trip to the Barn and have never been disappointed!

Nice, clean renovated barn with tedious stairs
The rental was clean, had a fully stocked kitchen, and the beds were comfortable, The property description needs to state that the main living/kitchen area is up a rather steep set of stairs & that there are no bathrooms on that level. Anyone in your group that considers this VRBO and considers using the loft sleeping area should know that because they have to go down the spiral stairs from the loft & then go down that set of stairs to use the bathroom on the lowest level. We chose not to use the loft bedroom because of that inconvience. Also, our group was rather put off by the owner request to start a load of towels in the washer before we left. We felt that we were on vacation and shouldn't have to do laundry, particularly since we were paid a cleaning fee.
The lack of water preasure in the kitchen makes it hard to do much of anything, luckily most of the meals were prepped ahead, but twice as much time had to be spent on cleaning up, which is a disappointing way to spend a fun weekend away. All the people who slept in not the king bed were a bit disappointed in mattress quality, especially the twin beds and trundles. The king bed had to deal with the beetles though. Not a ton that could be done about the Asian beetles, but the combination of quantity and them swarming the chandelier above the only table meant they were constantly dropping down onto us.
We gathered for our family Christmas in this home and it was fabulous! The home is gorgeous. We had everything we wanted/needed. Jaimie the host was great. Easy to communicate with and prompt with response.
Great stay. Very unique barn style property. Fun place in a cute little town on the Mississippi River. Everything you need. Large open living room and kitchen. We had 10 total and had plenty of room.
Wow, what an absolutely amazing place. The pictures do not do justice. Not because they are bad pictures.... just this place is so cool!!! We came for my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary to spend some quality family time together and blue did not disappoint. So many places just to chill and the kitchen was great to make family dinners.
Our young adult kids loved the game room. The electronic pinball machine was actually quite addicting. Everything was clean; the tv room is set up very nice for watching a movie and they have the best bean bag (love sac brand).
We took day trips to La Cross and hit a winery. Tip for any people who work out. The anytime fitness down the road sells day passes and we used that. Great place, great host. So charming!!!
We really enjoyed the stay at Big Blue. Interior of the place was exactly per the pics. Sleeping 12+ people there may be tough with only two bathrooms. Bunk beds are on the small side (normal), but they worked for our needs. Kitchen was very nice, no issues whatsoever. Bathrooms were nice and clean. Seating in the general area upstairs was adequate. Couple recliners would be a nice add. We enjoyed the outside sitting area. Would be nice to have a deck out back. Access to HWY 90 was super simple. Our host Jaimie answered all of our questions. We loved our stay and will most certainly check this out again in the future.
Enjoyed our stay! Home owner was great about getting back to me. Issue with hot water and water pressure, but owner helped us out. 2nd stay at this property - we love it!
Place looked like the pictures. We enjoyed our time together. Fantastic table to gather around. Major stores for thing you may need are only 10 minutes away. Quick replies from owner on all requests or questions. We had the same water pressure issues as others listed, but a quick rinse of the faucet filters cleaned it right up. And as others noted, there is no bathroom on the floor with the kitchen/gathering space. Overall it was a great find for our family.
